Michelle Obama’s Princeton classmate is executive at company that built Obamacare web

Re: Michelle Obama’s Princeton classmate is executive at company that built Obamacare

600 million to create a website? Does it really cost that much to create a high traffic website? What am I missing, that just blows me away.

Re: Michelle Obama’s Princeton classmate is executive at company that built Obamacare

It's an American company, subsidiary of a Canadian company; the work went to Americans, and the office is in America.

Not what I heard but I could have heard wrong. You have any way to verify this?

Re: Michelle Obama’s Princeton classmate is executive at company that built Obamacare

They didn't deliver a working website for the 55 million dollars they were paid to do it.

If you bought a computer from Dell and it wouldn't turn on, would you also blame the government? :lamo

No, I wouldn't, but I wouldn't blame Dell either if I told Dell to put a whole bunch of crap in the computer that made it inoperable.

Re: Michelle Obama’s Princeton classmate is executive at company that built Obamacare

So this thread is about how a lot of successful people went to Princeton?

Oh, no, it's really about making unsupported allegations that somehow Mrs. Obama overcome all the bidding processes we have for government contracts and gave a Princeton classmate the job.

Conservatives are that desperate and foolish looking.

Let's file this in the rightwing "I hate the black first lady" meme cabinet

Your house must be pretty full with all of your "meme"orabilia crap.

Pssst: the $600M figure is a rightwing talking point. Debunked. False.

Re: Michelle Obama’s Princeton classmate is executive at company that built Obamacare

I love that American has tried to emphasized the point that this is cronyism because they are both black and may (I use that word very carefully in this case) have known each other 30 years go. Talk about a leap of mother****ing faith.

That's what black people do, according to the tea party. They have secret handshakes.

Did you know that I remember every black person that I saw on a plane with me when I flew to France 3 years ago?

Re: Michelle Obama’s Princeton classmate is executive at company that built Obamacare

I think this thread probably falls under the "Affirmative Action President" meme the rightwingers love trotting out. There's a whole rightwing industry spewing out this stuff, about how Obama and of course Mrs. Obama only got anywhere in life because of affirmative action, without which they would be working in a fast food restaurant (because they're black, you know and black people never excel on their own merit according to the tea party). The OP is extending the talking point to black acquaintances of Mrs Obama from 30 years back. Here's how the "Affirmative Action President" meme works.

It is a strategy that conservatives learned from the Clinton years. Throw **** against the wall, hope it sticks. When doesn't stick, just use it the next time as part of a list of all the scandals the administration has been part of. Rinse, repeat, and pretty soon every one (with every one being all the conservatives who want to believe) starts believing that the administration is scandal ridden. It is creating a narrative. Facts do not need to apply. You can see it in posts here as people keep bringing in other "scandals" and use that as why this is believable.

There is a reason why the biggest demographic that republicans are actually gaining in is high school and less educated white people. Most other people actually can see through this kind of thing, and most other demographics republicans are losing ground in.

Good job linking to a site that makes Beck and Limbaugh look understated and fact based. It is **** like that that people use against the rest of us. Leave the stupid "blogosphere" "tell us what to think" type links at home, you will fare better.

This is the list of "scandals" brought up so far...

Obama's great uncle.
Benghazi.
NSA.
IRS.
The website.

They're trying DESPERATELY to try to get something to stick. It's really a good thing nothing is. Few people would argue Obama has been a 'great' president, but he hasn't been the monster Tea Party Savages are hoping he is. If anything, he's kept most of the policies of his predecessors in place. He's Bush lite with more liberal qualities.

They brought up Solyandra and LightSquared too. This kind of thing makes them look really desperate. They don't have anything that has worked yet, and fact checking keeps debunking all the talking points they want to use about ACA, but by god, something has to stick.

I'm sure the next "scandal" will be the one that gets Obama impeached though.

Remember, Clinton was impeached for obstruction of justice, so surely he must have been guilty...

No. It didn't cost that much.

That number is straight-up false, but that hasn't stopped the right-wing media empire and even their elected representatives from repeating it!

No, I wouldn't, but I wouldn't blame Dell either if I told Dell to put a whole bunch of crap in the computer that made it inoperable.

And what crap do you think the administration asked for that made the website inoperable? The ability to create accounts and set up security questions is some revolutionary new concept?

Yet they keep repeating it, and will continue to do so, even on this thread. It's how the rightwing noise machine works.

The funny thing is, in a couple months the website will be working fine and they'll have moved onto their next bizarre pseudo-issue. I predict it will involve pet food and a conspiracy to "feminize" America's fire departments.

Re: Michelle Obama’s Princeton classmate is executive at company that built Obamacare

Wow, it's almost as if the Ivy League routinely churns out top-level executives who tend to obtain lucrative government contracts.

Re: Michelle Obama’s Princeton classmate is executive at company that built Obamacare

And I still want to know how that contract was awarded. Multiple sources claim that this was a no-bid contract; HHS says this isn't so. Who's correct? Where's the RFP, and where was it published?

Well well well, look who's listed in the same graduating class. Does anyone remember what the Left said about Cheney and Halliburton?

Wow. Kudos to you, that's a smoking gun and no mistake.

affirmative action birds of a feather
do business together?

tell me it ain't so.

Re: Michelle Obama’s Princeton classmate is executive at company that built Obamacare

I'm pretty sure that Princeton's Graduate Alumni Association is mostly white.

and if there was not affirmative action, even more so. Michelle Obama claimed her mediocre HS record (compared to the white and Asian students) was overlooked because she was a LEGACY at Princeton (her brother was a graduate)

When her brother went to Princton two years earlier it was probably around 7% to 10% black students at Princeton. From the late 70's to mid 80's most the brilliant students chose and were accepted at Harvard, whereas Princeton was trying to shake it's anti-semitic and anti-minority reputation and preferred well rounded minorties over specialized academic students. Its true, Michelle Robinson was not a remarkable student at Princeton. She did however go on to earn a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from Harvard Law School in 1988. After graduting from Harvard, Michelle went on to become a successful professional in her own right. However, her real claim to national notority is largely based on her husband becoming the POTUS. Meanwhile, Michelle Obama seems to have put her own career and ambitions on hold in order to support her husband. Its an age old tale...behind most successful men is a stong woman.

All irrelevant stuff, and you've established nothing, because they are friends in the black alumni association there.
