Just in case any of you are wondering who is actually responsible for the continuing on-going Govt. shut down, it's the guy who was offered literally everything he wanted, but for a shorter time, with the request that he pretty-please be willing to negotiate in the meantime on something - anything, and still said no ; because he thinks that the longer more people are in pain, the better off he does politically.

President Obama used his weekly radio address to reject the latest offer from House Republicans to end the fiscal stalemate. The outline of their proposal was released Friday and would have reopened government through December and lifted the debt ceiling for six weeks...

On Friday, Senate Republicans floated the outlines of their own plan to end the standoff. Their proposal would lift the debt ceiling through the end of January and reopen the government for six months. The dueling proposals put Obama in the enviable position of choosing between his opponents. He can reject one proposal and still look Presidential by negotiating on a competing offer. Obama said Friday he would look for the "best deal."
On Saturday, the House Republicans are meeting to finalize the details of the plan they released Friday. Obama's rejection of even the outlines of that plan makes the next moves by the House uncertain. The Senate, meanwhile, moves back to center-stage of the debate with a vote Saturday afternoon on a one-year increase in the debt ceiling. ...

There you have it. The next time anyone in the Administration complains about the shutdown or coming debt limit, remind them that they value it less than the opportunity to perhaps divide some of their political opposition.

I'm not wondering who shut down the government. I know it is some ideological nut wads who take Ayn Rand to heart. Whoa six whole weeks in a nation that has been around 200+ years.

It doesn't even end the government shutdown and you still somehow think it contains everything Obama wanted.

Why is that?

Wait. Nevermind. You don't think that. ****ing Breitbard told you that.

Yeah, they offered to raise the debt limit, but not to open the government. The GOP are children.

If you don't wonder, one must question what informs what you consider to be your "thinking," and how exactly that you "know" what you imagine to be true.

No, ultimately it's the Electorate's queer notion that Arithmetic can be altered by silly slogans such as "hope'n'chage," and other self-cannibalistic swill that have led us to a place where we've filled Congress and the White House with people detached from Reality. By the way, since Ayn Rand has proven to be a much better prophet than say, Kinsey or Marx, you might want to take a little does of Reality yourself and adjust your thinking.

This farce might be the end of the Republican party. Most Americans are starting to see the break with reality.

i question anyone who thinks altruism is a economic sin.

Ayn Rand readers legitimately believe the world will be a better place once everybody is an asshole.

That is not vey lucid on your part. And we are talking about the same chain smoking Ayn Rand who spoke of smoking and Social Security and then wound up taking advantage of Social Security when she was dying of lung cancer due to smoking.

Yes. She was still, by far, the best of the prophets I mentioned, and would have been so had she turned into a bank robbing Hare Krishna.

Again, the Left operates in denial of arithmetic, and its schemes are therefore inherently doomed.

Okay what prophecy did she come up with?

Obama has a 37% approval rating.

And the Right operates in the elementary arena of arithmetic, not realizing the complicated real world takes at the very least advanced algebra.

So? People who think that Arithmetic isn't utterly ruthless, as the Left must, can't deal with algebra either, much less calculus. As we see, they can't even balance our budget.

Why, the idea of an ever more incompetent State, seizing ever more power, demanding ever more sacrifices from and control over our most productive neighbors, in order to appear to fulfill vapid promises to our most indolent and covetous neighbors, thereby ensuring greatly rising numbers of the later, and ever diminishing numbers of the former. Wasn't that obvious?

I'm so sorry that your mental state causes you to see persona and related personal traits to arithmetic... oh, wait Arithmetic, I forgot you've personified it, I'll try to remember to capitalize it in the future so as to not upset your apparently frail hold on reality.

Nope, because people are becoming more free to live their lives as they are. Be they gay, black white purple or what ever equality under the law is coming to fruition.

In other words, you are unwilling to examine the transparent fact that a nation with programs based in fantasies and a $17,000,000,000,000 debt is operating under ignorance or denial of Arithmetic.

I see no evidence that my previous remark shouldn't stand and/or be repeated. Household budgets aren't simple arithmetic, corporations aren't, and yet you naively think the largest government with the longest and most deadly reach on the planet should reduce it's economic intelligence to the level of an elementary school student, apparently such as yourself. Hence I restate, your grip on reality must be frail, regardless of that mean ol' nasty ruthless Arithmetic that haunts you.

nothing is worse than those who take credit for charity they have forced out of others.

the dems pander to the needy by making others foot the bill

Well isn't that just peachy? It's also a silly outlook. Who makes your steel these days? Your electronics? Your shoes? We used to be a production oriented society which produced major quantities of such things. Now, with wages manipulated by foolish officials and regulations vomited forth in mountains by faceless bureaucrats, the Productives have largely fled these shores, just as Ayn Rand predicted.

People can dart about like butterflies singing peons to their freedoms, real and imaginary, sublime and perverse, until that not too distant future in which they discover that they are wholly owned by our creditors, or by hostiles that we haven't the power or will to resist.

One must look, that one might see.

No. I assert, quite rationally, that any entity that denies the nature of arithmetic is incompetent to approach more complex mathematics. We have a suicidal level of debt, and our arithmetically challenged pols wish to expand it far further. Barring deliberate malice, they can be capable of such acts only because they fail to grasp the most fundamental aspects of arithmetic.

Seriously, what possible use can appeals to higher math be when one fails to grasp that if Johnny has $10, one cannot steal $12 from him in order to pay off one's friends? This sort of realization is alien to the Federal Government.
