School bans most balls during recess: Smart move or going too far?

So what? I am not talking about any gay person. I am not referring to any gay person. If they want to be offended well it's on them. This does not change the fact you made a personal attack, period.

And they could break a leg playing on the monkey bars. Or break an arm playing teather ball. Kids are going to get hurt at some point. It is part of growing up. Taking prescausions are one thing, taking away games because someone might get hurt at some point? Why don't we have them sit around and sing songs for recess.

Schools here are not the same. Never have been and never will be. You don't seem to understand this.

First lesson of being a parent "kids get hurt" it happens.

Kids do get hurt and that's fine but as a parent I wouldn't be happy if my kid got hurt because of a game he wasn't even part of. Not all schools have large playing areas and a ball game can take up most of that playing area. When my my oldest went to school in New England they had a very small playground and the grass was out of bounds in the winter/ fall because of the mud which meant they were restricted to the playground and the tarmacked area. If they were to play football (soccer), baseball, dodgeball etc it would of taken up a lot of space forcing the kids who didn't want to play or were afraid of being hit by the ball out of this area. So the school restricted ball games in the winter and the kids found other things to amuse themselves with. After school my son played football with his friends, played on a team at the weekend and the world didn't end.

This type of "regulation" is a prime example and reason why real men aren't interested in a career in education any longer. There is no longer any "physical" component to education and no need for "men" as role models of strength, character, discipline, life coaching, and team building. It's all apron-string, dependency training for life in a liberal world where a higher power cares and provides for you.

No one expects you to. You however have to realise it can and does happen.

Our public schools for the most part have large playing area's. Again as I have been trying to say England can't compare to the US. It is smaller, more cramped and has a much smaller population of what? 53,000,000? The US has a population of 300,000,000.

A reasonable comparison in this situation cannot be made.

I said New Engand....Sorry can't debate with someone who constantly neglects to read the posts. Good day.

1.ok it was offensive because you used the word gay in a negative way and i'm sure gay posters on here would take offence.
2. Why is that moronic? An 11 year old me could easily break your nose with a football.
3. What is it exactly I don't understand about schools?

First life lesson for the kids " you can't always do what you want where you want"

What are ****ing kidding me? This thinking couldn't be more stupid and unsubstantiated.

Wait I miss one word and now it's consistently? That's a cop out. You got no legs here.

Your hyperbolic nonsense is still just that. It's because of people with that mindset that are bringing our schools down to where they are.

Thanks for that.

You'll need to source that.

Why? Do you deny that more people doesn't increase the chance of something happening?

First of all, it seems that you believe that only or mainly conservatives or religious people homeschool. This isn't really true. While many people do homeschool their children for religious reasons, it isn't always because the parents are religious. It could be that the parents are concerned about the religious influence on a school within a certain area. Or they could have beliefs that are so far away from the norm, that they prefer to homeschool rather than conflict with the school while maintaining their own beliefs.

Second, all sorts of people sue other people for stupid reasons. It isn't just "liberals", despite popular conservative belief.

This is the generation we are bringing up now? Head to a play ground but keep your nose in your iPhone. Dont look around and for sure dont engage in any physical activity.
And if you get hit by a ball, run to mommy and daddy so they can sue the school district.
Circling the drain people, circling the drain.

Your statist tendencies are duly noted. Let's move on.

Apparently they don't want the boys to have balls of any kind when they leave school, because masculinity is a threat to the Collectivist Vision.

Only 2 weeks ago there was another similar article and it was a joke this one now seems like its really happening.

Did any of you read the article, or just jump to conclusions?

My responce was to some of the other posters and their "play ground experience".
So what is your point?
My point is...did you read the article, or just jump to conclusions?

Did any of you read the article, or just jump to conclusions?

Ya, I read the article... And while there is a "justification", this is just another piece in a long trend.

Put it this way, when I was in high school, the school I was going to had a shooting range in the basement, kids (only a few years before I got there) would bring their rifles to school for target practice...

There's other solutions that could have been made.

Your dodge is duly noted as well.

There's no dodge, I've discussed this with you and you know where I stand. And for the record, you have fail to prove any of your assertions about law suits. Failed, and until you do otherwise there's nothing more to discuss.

So...you have no idea how long this policy will be, the kids are still playing with the harder balls during gym class and the policy was only implemented once construction was going on at the school...but you're going to stick to your original position.

Wow...the only thing which would make this better would be a personal anecdote which could never be substantiated to illustrate the difference between how you had it and how it happens today...

Put it this way, when I was in high school
Ahh, good! There it is.

There's other solutions that could have been made.
Name them.

You mean the assertion that more people in a group means a greater chance of lawsuits, no matter the group? It is mathematics, statistics.

Or maybe the one that said not all homeschoolers are religiously oriented in their decision to homeschool? (If you didn't mean this, then feel free to expand on what you meant by knowing homeschoolers.)

Home-schooling demographics change, expand

But it still comes down to statistics. If more people homeschool, then that would mean there is a higher chance that a homeschooling parent will sue someone over something related to their child. Perhaps it would be playground equipment in the neighborhood or access to it or some other area normally only available after school hours. Maybe it would be suing someone for trying to discriminate against them for homeschooling their child.

Holy **** your mom is my mom! This woman could give a crap about her own kids but her precious grandchildren are like fine china. Recently I took my daughter and nephew with her to a farmer market and the kids got balloon animals. Well my crazy nephew was messing with his, after I told him to stop, and it popped and he started crying so I told him to suck it up and stop and my mom said and I quote "a balloon popping is traumatizing for a child" a god damn balloon popping!!!!! I am never gonna let her live that down, that is some of the stupidest **** I've ever heard.

I give my mom no end to the abuse now. She even punished my father for yelling at the little prince when he did something wrong. This is not the woman that raised me. My sister who hated my mother when she was growing up is all fine with this now. I remind myself it is not my kid, and i let them know if they send the little prince over to me to care for a while I am going to teach him about the word no. he can cry until his eyeballs pop out. Every time he cries grandma has to come running over to see what is wrong. I had a friggen log fall on my head in the yard and was knocked out for two hours and my mom never even knew it happened. The little prince has a bug bite and OMG it is the end of the world. What is worse is he knows it is ridiculous because when me and grandpa get him for a while that stuff stops.

Oh, and though I complain about my sister raising her kid she has absolutely no problem in me being around him in drag and has explained things like homosexuals and trans people to him and even has him call me by my female name. So I bitch about some things but she has had some big issues with who I am and i am amazed she has never had a problem with me and her kid. It is probably why i just grin and bear it because it is not my kid and she is not being the selfish bitch I know she can be. Still it bugs the hell out of me and mom gets it. I have gotten that pissed off grizzly grandma look so many times but screw it. Now my sister has married a good guy who gives the little prince the business and he deals with it just fine. God damned bitch finds this guy with a high end job working for At&T down in florida doing support for their 4g. They got the money and the family has money too so we have a little mittens romnifeller running around. I sure hope he has a skill or something because no one pushes this kid to compete in anything.

But listen to me bitch like I know how to raise a kid. I won't have one because I know i would snap the little goobers head off one day for being a dumbass. So I probably don't know **** anyway.

I'll probably be more successful than most of those people. You don't need sports it is bad parenting to stop your kid form playing a sport because you think it is unsafe not because the kid hates sports like I do.
And a lot of kids hate math too. Sports are a very important part of education. Especially team sports like football. They teach teamwork, which is a very important skill to have when you enter the workforce.

I do know that football players are all sissies(?).
 Say hello to your new home, whimpy!

And the left wing wussification of America continues. When I was in HS we played "kill the man with the ball" in the gym on rainy days for PE class. It was played with basket balls and you aimed for the head, those were the days!

The area is a republican stronghold. :lamo

Too bad people actually need math you are not going to be part of the workforce without math. Go play rugby.
