Why has the Senate failed to produce a budget beyond a CR for over four years?
 
You should read Sen. Coburn's back-in-black plan from July of 2011. At least the outline, which is clear enough.
It is an easy Google. If Dr. Coburn can win me over, he should be able to win nonTEAtards.
Also, as a retired teacher whose birthday is on Sandy Hook which I'm dreading this year, #60, I'm all in on concealed-carry in schools and have found dozens of schools with a CC program just by Google.

Sen. Coburn has the only comprehensive program I've seen and he's not exactly a moderate Republican.

Please don't make me say that you can't take yes for an answer. I take **** every day for my CC stance here in Illinois.
I support a plan to save our public pensions that has ****ed everyone off on "my side". I clearly "get it" with Sen. Coburn's balanced budget plan. I support my Repub Congressman for his work with Veterans and defend him for wanting to take out ASSad. I'm actually quite sick of defending myself as not a loon on one side or the other, because the goalposts will be moved.

The Senate passed a Budget in March and it was promptly buried in the House. Boner refused conference.
Does that answer your question? Reid is not into infantile, futile behavior like Boner. He knew it was a waste of time all along.

Correct me if I am wrong, the Senate had a budget plan, the House had a budget plan, neither could reconcile, so back to the old CR. The CR is what was passed and signed by Obama. A CR basically has the govt spending like they did in the past.
That has congress has operated for many years.
 
The Senate passed a budget. The House passed their budget. There was ZERO reconciliation because the House refused 18 times to go to conference. I want this to end as much as you do I hope, but not with the proverbial gun to my head.

Look, I am not going to get into the tit for tat. Both sides for years have not worked well in formulating budgets. Hence the CR.
I could come back and say well the House, which really is where budgets should start, passed a budget, which the Senate trashed.
So what is your point of yea the Senate passed a bill. So what, Until both houses can agree, its not a budget.

is far as Reid, Pelosi.........they are carrier politicians just like the other side has.

Do you understand how a budget is developed by the Feds? It doesn't matter if the House passes a budget if the Senate fails to confirm the budget. It doesn't mean a thing if the Senate passes a budget if the House doesn't concern with it. It doesn't matter if the house and senate pass a budget if the President doesn't sign it or if vetoed and Congress can't overide the veto.

So yes I know the Senate passed a budget. But did the Senate get the House to approve it? Did the budget go to the President,
the answer is NO on both. Same as the House passed a budget which the Senate rejected. President never so the budget.

In general, the President submits a budget to the House. The house modifies or accepts it. Sends it to the Senate, The Senate modifies or accepts. it may get sent back to the House

If the House and the Senate budget plans are the same and approved by both, it goes to the President for signature.

You made a strong point that the Senate hadn't passed a budget for 5 years. We simply responded that you were wrong. We want to talk. Until you at least see the outline of Sen. Coburn's plan (R-OK), IMO you haven't seen the best out there.

Why did the House refuse conciliation conference 18 times. This is why we don't have a budget and it is on Paul Ryan for refusing to allow it.

Fine then you can't say the House did any different can you? Which House budget got to Obama's desk? The current House has sent fewer bills to the Presidents desk than any other before it. They have become virtually a one branch govt. and have acted totally on their own as if the rest of Govt. didn't even exist. It is unprecedented and despicable in every way. It is as un-American as I have ever seen in a body of the Govt. and is surely creating uneasiness around the world about the sanity of our elected officials.

Yes, for me the second election was pretty a referendum on Obamacare....and the economy....and women's rights....and not neccessarily in that order. Romney lost and Obama won.

There is plenty to talk about. This is the way they chose, so that's how it goes. Where are you getting this figure?

The 18% represents the people in the districts the T's in the House come from. Obama has promised to negotiate on the budget as soon as the govt. is open and the debt ceiling is raised. That is what will happen and no talks will take place until then.

Well, it seems a lot more than 18% of the House voted for the bills the dems rejected, so, that really isn't an honest answer. Obama made a lot of promises which he failed to deliver on and in fact did the exact opposite hence my unparallelled disgust. Give the GOP the individual mandate waiver and this all goes away for now. Which it should.

The Debt ceiling should not be apart of this, I don't know who has been keeping that as a strategy but it has always been moronic.
 
Even mike2810 gave it up in post 211. I suppose the House didn't ignore 18 Senate calls for a joint conference either.

On Saturday, September 28, 2013, the House passed another measure to keep the government running, delay the president's health care law for one year, and permanently repeal Obamacare's tax on pacemakers and children's hearing aids.

Senate Democrats rejected the measure on a party-line vote.

(The House also passed the Pay Our Military Act, which ensures our troops are paid during a government shutdown. Thankfully, that measure was adopted by the Senate and signed by President Obama.)

On Monday, September 30, 2013, the House passed yet another measure to keep the government running and ensure fairness for all Americans under the president's health care law. President Obama delayed the law's mandates on big businesses and insurance companies; this bill would delay the law for everyone.

The government is shutdown because some people in the GOP refuse to accept the fact that most Americans rejected their ideas last November and sent President Obama back to the White House.

The GOP will pay a price for this, wait and see.
