Bush: Don't criticize Obama for golf

Amen sister. It's apparently one of those sports that once you try it, you're hooked. I don't need anymore obsessions.

My grandfather used to watch it all the time, as I would fall asleep.

1) I don't have a problem with Presidents playing golf. It just "looks" bad when the country is suffering, but it doesn't do any real harm.

2) All this talk about "vacation" is ridiculous. Presidents don't have "vacation". They just have work in a different setting than Washington or the White House. The only vacation they have is when they have a few minutes or God forbid an hour of personal time aside from sleeping.

BTW, Bush is a class act. Whether you liked him or not, the guy is sincere and does care.

Yeah, the kvetching about Presidential "vacations" is just silly. More uber-partisan crap.

I still think they shouldn't take these fancy vacations that they take sometimes though, especially when we're in a recession. It's at least annoying to the average person I think.

Depends on what they're doing and where they're going. If they're going to their home, or ranch, or whatever, I'm fine with that.

Right, I'm sure they never splurge. ;) Martha's Vineyard seems to be a popular destination for presidents. Believe me when I tell you that it's not cheap. If they use their own money, I don't care where they go.

Nope. Not by a long shot. Even with plenty of legitimate points of criticism, people still have to grasp at the bottom of the barrel for cheap shots. That's the kind of society we live in, that's the legacy we're leaving behind for our children.

Christ, we haven't even gotten past the utterly moronic "teleprompter" gags, which even more than golf are the gold standard for Republican idiocy.

EARTH TO EVERYONE: Virtually every public speaker with access to a teleprompter will use one. The ones who don't a truly gifted at public speaking. And the random internet morons who rag on Obama for using one would probably piss themselves if they had to give a SOTU.

This was just up until Aug 19 2010.....now you know for a fact that he has taken more from this point on. Which also doesn't change the fact on the costs to the American people.

How does Obama vacation days compare to Bush vacation days?

Answer:

This is Mr. Obama's 9th vacation since taking office. As of August 19, 2010, he has spent all or part of 38 days on "vacation" away from the White House. He has also made 14 visits to Camp David spanning all or part of 32 days. It brings his total time away to all or part of 70 days.
It's less than the "vacation" time taken during the same period by his immediate predecessor.

As of this point in his 1st term, Mr. Bush had made 14 visits to his Texas ranch spanning all or part of 102 days. He also made 40 visits to Camp David spanning all or part of 123 days. His "vacation" total at this point in his presidency was all or part of 225 days away.....snip~

How does Obama vacation days compare to Bush vacation days

Now back to the Clincher.....Bush's was a total for 8 yrs. Obama's total is for 4 years so far. Has Obama been there yet for 8 years. Kinda hard to get around that fact.....huh? ;)

Your facts are WRONG! Wiki. answers can be anthything you want them to be! Not a good source. Try again.

Still haven't figured out Bushs totals are for 8 years and Obama hasn't been there for 8 years yet......huh?

Go ahead and look up any answers. Got a link to prove it wrong?

My only real beef with Obama's vacation is his Christmases in Hawaii. Just disrupts a lot of people's holidays with their families. Think spending Xmas in DC should be a Presidential tradition for that reason alone.

You totally ignore the fact that Bush took twice as many vacation days in his first 5 years in office.

I suppose when you start with the unsupported belief that all conservatives and Republicans agree with Bush on everything it would seem like Bush's opinion would hold some sway.

In the end the OP is no more sensible than a conservative posting the same article with the question "Does this mean an end for a call to try Bush as a War Criminal?"

It shows how much class Bush has.

Never said otherwise, but Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford were nice guys too. Nice guys seem to make useless Presidents.

Barack Obama won all 3 debates with John McCain. He won 2 out of 3 with Mitt Romney. He didn't need a teleprompter to do that.

Ronald Reagan used a teleprompter.

The last President who didn't regularly use a teleprompter was... wait for it... Richard Nixon. Is that a President to which you want to draw a favorable comparison? Nixon used to look down at his typed text, then back up at the camera, down, up, down, up, and in so doing make him look even shiftier than he already was.

They were also the only Presidents in my lifetime who were, unquestionably, honest. And how did we thank these honest public servants? We voted each of them out the next chance we got.

Being an SOB is also a job requirement for being Mayor of New York. John Lindsay, Abe Beame and David Dinkins were nice guys, and they failed; Ed Koch and Rudy Giuliani were SOBs, and they had a bit more success. Then again, Mike Bloomberg has failed spectacularly, and he's no nice guy.

Personally, I don't care if they're honest as long as they're effective at their jobs. Bill Clinton, for example, was a terrible excuse for a human being but a very effective President. I don't care who you ****, just do your job right!

Being nice and being classy aren't always the same thing. Obama isn't classy, nor a good president.

Or, as Bill Maher put it, "They think that if he cheats on his wife, he'll be like, 'Sorry, I gotta go fix the DUTCH budget deficit now!'"

Best President since... well, Clinton. But how hard was that? All he had to do was accept the truth that conservatism doesn't work, and actually care about finding bin Laden.

Classy? Classier than any President since... since... somebody wanna help me out here? At least JFK kept his unclassy moments out of the public eye.
