Syria welcomes Russia's offer to put its chemical weapons under Int'l control

Ok, now we'll see if this really is about chemical weapons, or if that was just an excuse. The next days will tell. If the US government refused this quasi-capitulation from Assad, it would be proof that the chemical weapons were indeed just an excuse.

Totally eliminating Assad's chemical weapon's arsenal would in fact be a big victory for the US and civilization.

If Assad is willing to give up his chemical weapons, chalk up another victory for Obama. I think, based on his more or less positive response Obama knows that. Russia just handed him a foreign policy WMD victory, which everyone will compare with the Bush WMD fiasco in Iraq.

Yep. Sometimes bombing people isn't the best course of action. Something conservative still haven't learned.

Apparently it's not just a conservative problem anymore.

Perhaps, but there are plenty of technical reasons to reject this offer. If Russia is the one doing the collecting, there's a good chance they're going to conveniently skip some. Furthermore, how are we suppose to do a full inventory in the middle of a civil war? This looks like a play for time between Syria and Russia.

You know how it look like.

Like Putin is directing Obama's agenda.

He is. He saw that Obama couldn't so he took advantage.

Now, Putin has increased influence in Iran, Syria, Iraq. And countries like Egypt and Jordan will probably start looking at Russia to take the lead. This probably won't have a good ending to it. But it's what the world gets when we elect a community agitator President. He makes things worse, for everybody.
