Government Wants to Ban Certain Tattoos and Piercings, Bill Passes in Senate

Government Wants to Ban Certain Tattoos and Piercings, Bill Passes in Senate | Alternative

It's the Arkansas Senate, not the US Senate. Good job keeping the government out of our private lives!
Not to worry, rocket. They will submit a comprehensive 12,000 page bill explaining what kind of tattoos one can have, and what size. Of course, there will be other common sense items in there as well, but we won't be able to find out what those are until the bill gets passed.

Looking for the text of the Senate bill. Will post when I find it, nevermind found it (all within the edit period!)

Seems pretty in line with what the south wants; if its what the people want (if it goes to a public election) then it should pass otherwise it shouldn't just be legislated.

Based on the text of the bill, it won't survive Judicial review. It's clearly unconstitutional. Tattoos have long been ruled free speech and trying to outlaw them isn't going to happen.

Furthermore, merely because the people want something does not mean we should legislate it. The Nazi Party convinced the German people to ghettoize the Jews. That's an extreme case but the notion that if they want it, we should let it happen is a bad stance to take.

Banning body modifications would just lead to back alley modifications. Why do they want to kill people?

True, but that doesn't equate to outright bans by the people in question.

If a person wants to muck up their body with tattoos and piercings, more power to 'em! I couldn't care less, and I don't know why anyone else would. It really pisses me off when people are so "concerned" with what other people are doing with their bodies or in their bedrooms instead of being concerned about the actual problems we have in this country.

I feel the same way about plastic surgery. It doesn't mean we don't have an interest in making sure such procedures are rendered in competent and clean methods

Sure, but don't we already have regulations in place for such things?

No. Any fool with an interest can start branding people, performing eye tattoos, or dermal implants

I think they have to be licensed in most states. Of course it probably varies from state to state like anything else though, and it should be up to individual states IMO.
