Miss Teen USA claims bedroom webcam was "hacked", secretly recorded

Youd be surprised just how kinky and pervy some of the most innocent looking girls are. :p I think I can see a bit of freak hiding in her. They have a private session with the wrong guy and next thing you know they are being coerced into more nakedness. Every once in a while youll see a pissed off girl say "DONT GO PRIVATE with this guy he recoreds" in main chat and its usually the last girl you would expect who pretended to be super innocent. Because all the slutty girls just give it away recording or not.

yes we cant make sure she is innocent but maybe because l am not a man l cant see it :2razz:

We're not missing much by them not being fully leaked right now. I've seen her. B cup at absolute best. In this day of internet porn, mosquito bites don't raise the flagpole.

Apparently, this app let's you take pictures with your web cam remotely w/o alerting anyone

Webcam C510 indicator LED light - Logitech Forums

here's a claim that a registry hack will deactivate the light
Re: Can I turn off red LED - Logitech Forums

I am not so sure that it's impossible for the camera to receive images w/o the indicator light firing up.

Ah, so it was you! :)

Didn't this happen with some other girl awhile back? Don't remember the details, but the accusations were the same.

I used to have a computer with a webcam and there was no way it would be on and I not know it, as the light would continually blink.

Bad publicity is better than no publicity as they say.

Don't be so sure.

There are smartphone apps where the video camera records but there is no way to tell.

She was hacked months before the contest, reported it and the Feebs are investigating. It's odd that the first place some posters' minds go to is that she is the perv. If you don't know that hacking webcams happens all the time you're in for a rude awakening some day.

Use electrical tape over your laptop cam and then for cam traffic you want, use a plug and play USB separate cam. Unplug it physically when done.

Actually hackers would pay big money to be able to hack a camera and not have the light come on. Unfortunately either the person is lying or she is as it is impossible to disable the light on most models.

Most likely the person trying to extort money is lying.

Logitech makes a lot of webcams.

How to Secure Your Webcam

How can you be sure that no one is watching you without your permission?

Many webcams on notebook computers have indicator lights on them that let you know when your camera is actively capturing video. It may be possible (on some cameras) to disable the activity light through software hacks or modifying configuration settings. So, just because you don't see an activity light on doesn't mean that your webcam isn't still capturing video.

Although many web cameras offer a telltale LED light which indicates whether it is active, Fairfax found many security experts didn't trust that it would operate correctly if a hacker compromised their machine. After all, hackers have found ways to disable some webcam lights.

Remove the check from the LED On check box to turn off the status LED on the front of your webcam.

Look for the camera's operation light coming on when you're not using it; this is by no means a failsafe -- recent research suggests hackers using special web camera programs may be able to switch off the light.

I wouldn't count on the light being a sure indicator.

Its amazing what some people will believe in. Just because a stop-sign says STOP doesnt mean you wont get hit if you walk in front of a car.

It seems to me that an obvious feature that every computer-hosted camera ought to have is a switch which, with one motion, electrically-disconnects the camera, and at the same time covers it with an opaque covering, so that you can turn it off and know, with complete confidence, that no amount of hacking will cause it to send unauthorized pictures anywhere. I have to wonder why such a feature is not standard on all such cameras.

Or... you know... just put a piece of tape over the lens or turn it away from yourself.... whatever.

I don't have a webcam on my PC at home but the Logitech webcam on my office PC - we do a lot of video conferencing where I work - has such a cover.
