RIP, Jennifer Alfonso

Thats why I said "story is". But seriously, a woman with a knife? You cant shuck and jive long enough to over power her?
IF not, thats why I always give the advice of "never marry a woman that looks like they can take you in a bar fight".

To be fair, I saw an episode of Cops once where a very LARGE woman had hog tied her husband with telephone cords, IIRC. When the police arrived, she was sitting on him, and she said she did it because he was drunk. :lamo So I guess it would depend on how big and strong the woman happens to be.

Curious, would you expect a woman who's husband came at her with a knife to "shuck and jive"? Or would she be justified in shooting her would be assailant? If someone comes at you with a knife, I think you're perfectly justified in using lethal force to defend yourself no matter what genitalia the assailant happens to have. Spousal abuse mostly happens to women, but it does happen to men - more than most people think. Victims of spousal abuse are deserving of our support and abusive spouses are scum, no matter what sex they happen to be.

All that said, his story seems iffy at best.

This was Medina's account to Miami Dade police:

He and his wife argued. He pulled a gun on her. She threatened to leave him. He put the gun away and followed her. She unloaded a volley of punches on him. He fetched the gun again. She pulled a knife. He wrestled it out of her hands. She punched him again.

Then he shot her "multiple times."

If he can prove a patter of past abuse, the jury might buy a battered spouse syndrome defense. But given that men are less likely to report spousal abuse, that might be difficult for him. Or he might be lying through his teeth. As always, its hard to say given the few facts that are initiall reported.

a claim to self defense or some other type of defense based on spousal abuse would likely run into the same issues of inherent jury bias

I would expect a grown man to out wit a chick with a blade. Yep.

I don't get what the **** some people have to post this **** on facebook and twitter for.

People are ****ing stupid.

Another way this is done is when people tweet during horrific events.

As an example, there was a shooting in a Toronto mall, while the shots were being fired people were tweeting about it under the tables in the food court where it went down.

****ing stupid.
