Obama Protesters Sing 'Bye Bye Black Sheep,' in AZ [W:161]

Well, that can be. But do you know how every black American feels? Polls prove that a lot of black Americans do feel discriminated against.

48% don't and 1% aren't sure. Those are scary numbers for the Leftists.

Re: Obama Protesters Sing 'Bye Bye Black Sheep,' in AZ

Again, you're proving me point. Republicans have nothing to fear from minorities. What Libbos have to fear, is that minorities figure out that the Democrats are doing more to keep them in the poor house than to keep them out of the poor house.

Then why are the republicans trying so hard to make it as hard as possible for minorities to vote? I don't see liberals trying to disenfranchise minorities?

Republicans are the ones who try to stop them voting, that is a sign of fear IMHO.

Yes, that is what you claim and and on and on. But guess what, you are a very conservative, the party that wants to discriminate against black people in general.

Re: Obama Protesters Sing 'Bye Bye Black Sheep,' in AZ

NO #### !

The photo shows U.S. Marines with M-14 rifles with no bolts !

Just before I was discharged I was with the 5th Marine Expeditionary Brigade stationed at Camp Pendleton. Our company commander volunteered our company for riot control duty at Nixon's Summer White House in San Clemente which is a few minutes walk from the Camp Pendleton fence.

Nobody removed our bolts from our M-14's. We were told we would not be issued live ammunition but we still had our bayonets. Nothing happened, the anti war protesters didn't even get close since it was a gated community.

Seems that Tricky Dick had no problems with Marines being outside of his home with M-14's fully operable.

BTW: When we were told we wouldn't be issued live ammunition, this one S/Sgt. that night drove in to Oceanside to purchase a few boxes of .308 Winchester hollow points. Something about shooting hippies.

I have to stand corrected, those Marines in the photo are carrying M-1 Garands not M-14's.
But yes, the bolts have been removed.

Re: Obama Protesters Sing 'Bye Bye Black Sheep,' in AZ

A 2011 USA today poll asked:

"Do you think new civil rights laws are needed to reduce discrimination against blacks, or not?"

All answered:

Are needed 21 %
Are not needed 76 %
Unsure 2 %

But when looking at race it was a lot different:

Whites respondents only:
Are needed 15 %
Are not needed 83 %
Unsure 3 %

Black respondents only:
Are needed 52 %
Are not needed 48 %
Unsure 1 %

When asked about interracial marriages:

86% of all respondents approved, 11% disapproved and 3% where unsure.

Of the black respondents only 2% disapproved whereas 14% of the white respondents disapproved. Now that is a lot better than in 1994 when only 48% approved.

You can find this poll on Pollingreport.

Like it or not, blacks and whites often see this racial issue differently. That is not because white people do this on purpose but if you are not the victim of discrimination you will see that issue a lot different then when you regularly are the victim of said discrimination.

So why are half of black people missing this discrimination?

And yes, there are old white racists who are against interracial marriage. I've never denied this. My point is that they do not impact overall race relationships as much as the president.

They're not! LOL!

Re: Obama Protesters Sing 'Bye Bye Black Sheep,' in AZ

Sorry, I do not believe that. Liberals have nothing to fear from blacks/hispanics/asians and republican fear them so much that they work very hard to make sure as few of them as possible get to vote. Texas and other states are proving that right now.

what? requiring an ID to vote are you saying Blacks and Hispanics are not capable of getting an ID? why is that? are you being racist

They must be a bunch of Uncle Toms who are sellouts to their race and have accepted the institutionalized racism that exists in this country. They probably act white, by having a job and living in middle class, predominantly white neighborhoods and actually don't mind showing an ID to vote.

Because he thinks that all minorities are too poor and too stupid to get an ID.

Man! You just can't let me down. Can you? LMAO!!!

You're just yankin' my chain, huh? You don't really believe all that crap.

Ah yes, the "race traitor" mindset. Absolutely not a sign of a bigot to say someone must agree with you because they're the same race as you.

Wow, I love this meme. Put hurdles to voting that discriminate against minorities, and then claim anybody against those obstacles thinks minorities are dumb.

Talk about a dishonest rightwing meme. This is the skunk cabbage of memes. Typical deflection of the issue of why tea party racists want to make it harder for working people to vote.

No, actually he is statistically accurate:

Approximately ten percent of voting-age Americans today do not have driver’s licenses or state-issued non-driver’s photo ID. Based on Americans’ moving patterns, many more do not have photo ID showing their current address. And getting ID costs substantial time and money. A would-be voter must pay substantial fees both for ID cards and the backup documents needed to get them-up to $100 for a driver’s license, up to $45 for a birth certificate, $97 for a passport, and over $200 for naturalization papers. The voter may also have to take several hours off of work and travel significant distances to visit government offices open only during select daytime hours. Finally, many identifying documents cannot be issued immediately, so potential voters must allow for processing and shipping, which may take from several weeks to an entire year.

The impact of ID requirements is even greater for the elderly, students, people with disabilities, low-income individuals, and people of color. Thirty-six percent of Georgians over 75 do not have a driver’s license. Fewer than 3 percent of Wisconsin students have driver’s licenses listing their current address. The same study found that African Americans have driver’s licenses at half the rate of whites, and the disparity increases among younger voters; only 22% of black men aged 18-24 had a valid driver’s license. Not only are minority voters less likely to possess photo ID, but they are also more likely than white voters to be selectively asked for ID at the polls. For example, in New York City, which has no ID requirement, a study showed that poll workers illegally asked one in six Asian Americans for ID at the polls, while white voters were permitted to vote without showing ID.

*These statistics were compiled by NYU*

And just to highlight the issues everyone of those groups except the elderly poll overwhelmingly for Democrats
The fact of the matter is study after study shows this to be the case. Illegal immigrants by and large do not try to vote anyways so the only people effected by these voter ID measures are people who should be allowed to vote.

oh and preemptively:

Proponents often cite fraud or the potential for fraud to justify new ID requirements. There is no question that election misconduct exists, including improper purges of eligible voters, distributing false information about when and where to vote, stuffing of ballot boxes, and tampering with registration forms. But there is no evidence that the type of fraud addressed by stricter voter ID - individual voters who misrepresent their identities at the polls - is anything but an anomaly. In Ohio, a statewide survey found four instances of ineligible persons voting or attempting to vote in 2002 and 20042C out of 9,078,728 votes cast - a rate of 0.00004%. Despite the invocation of fraud as support for the new Georgia law, Georgia Secretary of State Cathy Cox has stated that she could not recall one documented case of voter fraud relating to the impersonation of a registered voter at the polls during her ten-year tenure as an election official. Nationwide, since October 2002, 86 individuals have been convicted of federal crimes relating to election fraud (including several offenses not remedied by ID requirements), while 196,139,871 ballots have been cast in federal general elections. Statistically, Americans are more likely to be killed by a bolt of lightning.

Anyone that thinks requiring an ID to vote is a hurdle for poor people is smoking crack. You have to have an ID to get welfare, or to drive, or to buy cigarettes and alcohol, or get a job. Why are you so eager to keep poor people from getting a job and welfare?

Why on earth would blacks miss the discrimination? Some might not feel discriminated and some might think that current laws are enough.

Yeah, the polling figures show that more people are of the opinion that Obama has helped race relations than that there are people think think it actually has gone worse.

And yes, even blacks polled think that Obama has made things worse. But it does not say why blacks feel that.

I think you feeling that Obama has done more to damage race relations that the republican party, Tea Party people and birthers, than I think that might be down to your own political feeling, but I could be wrong because I do not know you in person.

Re: Obama Protesters Sing 'Bye Bye Black Sheep,' in AZ

No, it is a fact. Blacks and Hispanics are less likely to have ID's and if republicans can make only 10% of the minorities not vote, they would win more elections and that is why racism comes into play.

Change of address on an ID is free. You have 30 days to do it, or you're in violation.

You have to have a BC to enroll in kindergarten...LOL!!! Why do you want to keep so many black kids out of school? What's wrong with you?

$97 for a passport, and over $200 for naturalization papers.

Not sure what this has to do with getting a driver's license.

IOW, no one is being disenfranchised.

I'm black. I have an ID. No one has tried to stop me from voting and I live in a mostly white precinct.

I don't know of a single voter restriction law in Louisiana that would prevent me from voting, because of my race, so you better get to googlin', because I'm calling buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuull****.

a state issued ID in the state i live cost 5 dollars and all that is required is proof of residence and citizenship the same requirement to get most jobs

when we past our voter ID law the governor for 2 weeks offered a free ride to the DMV and a free ID. do you know how many took her up on that offer state wide? 7

when GA passed their voter ID law they had a bigger black voter turn out after the law passed then the year before

No, I am not yankin' your chain. I am very serious.

Texas will "immediately" enact a voter ID law that a panel of federal judges ruled last year would impose “strict, unforgiving burdens on the poor

Harsh Texas Voter ID Law 'Immediately' Takes Effect After Voting Rights Act Ruling

Possibly racist and totally meant to make sure that the Republicans will keep Texas a red state when the Hispanic population gets big enough to possibly turn the state Blue.
