Ku Klux Klan: Our neighborhood watch program is “not racist”

Generally the KKK as an organization is dead and it is just the random nobody seeking attention that it even appears to exist at all. HOWEVER, around here the Zimmerman case has a huge effect in relation to those of KKK family heritage and thought.

What the Zimmerman case did was convince people to NOT participate further in traditional Neighborhood Watch as the liabilities are too great and the demands too high - including to abandon your constitutional right to having a firearm for self defense - and that being a member of Neighborhood Watch will be used against you. Basically nearly everyone dropped out. Those tended to be Seniors driving around in their cars watching their neighborhood (and chatting with people they know), most of those retirees from the Northeast and North Midwest.

That void has been filed by the children and grandchild of the KKK - which was extremely powerful here in the past - and a reason the population over 95% white. This was an area where for 100+ years African-Americans were brutalized and terrorized (and murdered). Old men driving around in their Buick, SUV or Cadillac has been replaced by backwoods men driving around in their 4X4s with a 3X5 Confederate flag flying off a pole in the back. They have no intentions of phoning 911 if they see "trouble" - which could be actual potential or real illegal activities OR "the wrong sort of people who don't belong here."

NOTHING good ever could have come out of the Zimmerman case and the raging race-baiting of it no matter how it turned out, when at no time did the case ever have anything to do with race. GZ by his real personal history is more documentable as not a racist than nearly everyone on this forum. Basically a candle that otherwise did not exist (claiming TM was a racial murder) was lite, and then for political motives everyone threw gasoline on it and continue to do so. Inherently, people then are going to continue to get burned.

As for the OP story? Anyone can hand out fliers calling themselves an organization - and trying to capitalize on the GZ case - like countless others are doing from all perspectives.

If I was black, I'd think very carefully before I walked in any white neighborhood where the KKK was providing neighborhood watch. But maybe that's just me.

And whatever else it was, it was hardly a 'standard self-defense case'. Except maybe in the South.

And if you are white, be careful walking thru a black ghetto or projects. It has always been the way for white people. Even more, if you are white be careful walking thru remote, isolated rural Native American ("Indian") reservation land. And, if you are white, be careful walking thru Latino ghettos and impoverished areas. And if you are white, be careful walking anywhere in Mexico, most of Central and South America, Africa, and the Middle East.

Yeah, the difference is that if you kill a white person under those circumstances, you go to jail if they catch you. If the colors are reversed, you get hailed as a hero of the Conservative Right.

Actually, the trial detailed it as a pretty clear case of self defense. Surely you're going to argue against this claiming things like 'stalking", "profiling", etc, but we have no evidence of any such thing happening. And as the facts are known (based on everything from eye-witness testimony and forensic evidence), we have a person who defended himself in a situation where there was clear reasonable fear of death or great bodily harm.

So the claim that race played any level of involvement here is rather perplexing

No, that is entirely false. I never knew anyone to get arrested. The attitude was more "what was that person doing there anyway?" Nor would this be so in most parts of the world. Much of the world is vastly more racist, bigoted and prejudice than anywhere in the USA.
 
People are so into the sales pitch of the media and being politically correct, they vehemently deny what they know is true. It would be far more dangerous for a white person to walk alone thru an impoverished African-American urban area than an impoverished Caucasion urban area if you are white. I lived most of my adult life in an African-American slum/ghetto area. Unless it was believed you were a prostitute or some manner of thug, gangster or dealer connected to a larger organization, it would be very dangerous for a white person to walk thru that community, particularly at night. VERY.

So that's our standard now? We judge affluent white communities based on life in poverty ridden ghettos?
 
I am reminded of the notorious criminal biker gangs that hold their annual "Toys-For-Tot's," spectacle.

Just like I would had LOVED to have been registeref to vote at the Philidelphia poll house where those two Black Panther Pumpers were providing, "security". Had I been there, there would have definitely been trouble.

What would you do if this was your neighborhood? Remain uninvolved and hope it doesn't affect you?

This is what I don't understand. If you want to live in an area that no one cares who is doing what to whose property, go live in the ghetto where people that try and improve their area are beaten. We live like this because we want people to watch out for our stuff, and to keep an eye on people that we have not seen around before. Any of the kids around here that turned around and attacked someone that was following them would get their ass kicked at home. On so many levels that is the wrong thing to do and the parents, would be pissed if their kid acted like that.

I live in an area where there's an equal oppurtunity to shot for ****ing around in the wrong place at the wrong time.
 
The KKK is racist to the core and I have some doubt that they will allow African Americans, Jewish people, Asians or Hispanics into their neighborhood programs.
