Rand Paul On Chris Christie: He Is The 'King Of Bacon'

Christie is the Democrats attack-dog. He incessantly attacks any and all Republicans and praises Democrats.

I don't believe Teachers and Reporters in New Jersey believe that Mr. Christie is praising them. This will play well in early RepubLie primary states. An interesting meeting could be Christie and Priebus.

Last time I checked, political parties were supposed to be groups of people cooperatively working towards a common goal in the governance of a sovereign state.

Political parties are not supposed to be people with vastly differing ideas that devolve into ad hominem amongst each other to win the right to lead the devolved **** heap that is called a party.

Both the Democrats and Republicans hardly resemble proper parties. The lack of real leadership, centralised platform, and this sort of horse**** speaks volumes to that effect.

That's what a single party political system looks like though.

I like Christie. He's what an elected official should be. Someone who works with the situation at hand, and puts aside politics in favor of representing all the people of his state, rather than sticking to ideology alone.

He does that? Damn, news to me. And I live in the State.

"And the battle between a RINO and a right-libertarian within the RP continues"

I am a right-libertarian, and if I ever were an 'R', I would be an 'INO', most definitely.

But seriously - all the media-oriented pyrotechnics aside, this is rather fascinating. Here we have a capable, pragmatic (perhaps, to a fault) executive type locking horns with an idealistic, populist (definitely to a fault, now and again) legislative type. And if you look closely - at what these two tea-party favorites have actually done with their respective mandates - they both have (mostly) fulfilled their promises.

I say: perhaps, here is the formula for our political renaissance, staring right at you.

Not to suggest that these two individuals are some kind of heroes (look for heroes among engineers, doctors, farmers...never politicians), but the best slogan I can come up with for the next electoral round would be: " Christie for President, Paul for Senate Leader". Both have their blind spots, both could do great good (if limited to their own areas of adequacy), both could do significant harm ( if left to their own devices). But as yin and yang of a new political balance? Maybe there's something to it.

I agree. I don't like all his policies, and he has a bully quality, but when it came to working hard to get his state back in its feet, he did so, and was honest and decent toward other politicians, like Obama, who worked constructively with him. That's what you hire politicians to do.

It's that honesty and decency that the zealots in the tea party can't stand. They are completely eaten up by a bankrupt and paranoid ideology.
