Alec Baldwin using gay slurs

Baldwin is so well-known for his short temper. He's never grown up. But he was defending his wife's honor. It's just that he can't control himself. Now this is all about his thoughtless insults and what a jerk he is rather than an opportunity to demonstrate how quick to judge celebrities the media are.

Wouldn't really call it some full on, homophobic rant.

yes, it is. You see, you do not get to decide whether or not something is deemed offensive or a slur. The reality is that even you understand that which is why you want to pretend it isn't a slur so you can use it as a slur.

No, it is not.

Exactly, and he certainly was not saying the person was gay as a compliment or in a positive way. he was implying insult with saying he would enjoy a foot up his ass because he was gay.

Suggesting that a straight man is gay is supposed to be insulting to that straight man since he is straight. If some random person outside of that takes offense it doesn't really matter. It has nothing at all to do with them.

I am just telling you how it is. if you wish to keep on running with that offensive attitude feel free. I personally would prefer to only insult people I mean to, but if you are cool with collateral damage and being a jerk to those who you may not wish to be then have at it. In the end you are wrong, and only the people around you will know it.

Don't listen to conversions that are none of your business and you will not find yourself with hurt feelings.

It is true, this really was not a rant against homosexuals, and it is unfortunate that he used homosexuality as an insult as he did. Alec has also done things for the gay community in the past, and is not trying to offset his behavior by making some guilt ridden contribution after the fact. It was stupid and dumb and if he wants to insult someone in the future i think he will probably stick to generic insults. There are a few reasons why this is not killing him.

people like you have a way of being heard by the people you insult. being a drag queen i have seen enough of the pretend private insult to know you are pretty much wanting the people you insult to get the message. There is a big difference between you and me, and that is i own my offensive behavior.

You're a drag queen?

I love Baldwin's work. He is hilarious on 30 Rock and he is one of my favorite SNL hosts. But as a person he seems like a complete jerk.

That would be why I said it.

Wait, are you a guy? And do you do the drag thing on the weekends, or is it an all during the week kind of thing?

Well, he said worse in "Team America."

As much as you are curious, this is not the topic.

You brought it up... besides, who gives a flying **** what Alec Baldwin says? Even if it is a gay slur. So, in itself, the "topic" is stupid.

 Whatever. The word queen is a not a gay slur.

In my opinion, it's all about intent. One gay man can call another gay man a queen, and it's not that big of a deal. If a straight man, in anger, or making fun, calls a gay man a queen, it's meant as a slur, as it well should be. Same for the "n" word. If one black man calls another black man "nigga," believe it or not, it's almost meant as a term of endearment. But if a white person, based on attitude, calls someone the "n" word, it's a racial slur - again, as it should be.

The term "queen" has been frequently used as in "drama queen". No gay slur there sorry. The foot up in the ass and you'd prolly like it comment is not a gay slur either.

Different meaning. Completely different. The term Queen of England is also used frequently. Doesn't mean that's a gay slur, either.

"Queen" can be a descriptor, but even when used "within the family," it can be a slur too.

Meanwhile, Baldwin's explanation is hilarious and really lame:

"The idea of ... that being something that people thought is homophobic ... a queen to me has a different meaning. It's somebody who's just above," Baldwin said. He added that he would have moved out of New York long time ago if he were a homophobe.

Baldwin explained further, "I know women that act queeny, I know men that are straight that act queeny, and I know gay men that act queeny. It doesn't have to be a definite sexual connotation, or a homophobic connotation. To me those are people who think the rules don't apply to them."

Alec Baldwin Explains Homophobic Slur Used in Twitter Rant

Oh, uh-huh. Keep trying to spin it, Alex. The "he'd enjoy it too much" part makes his meaning clear.

What's in your wallet?

One only has to look at the source.

He is an entertainer, and not a very good one at that IMO. I've come to expect no less from him in light of his previous public actions.

Remember his rant on his own daughter? What was that he called his 11-year-old child again? A rude thoughtless pig?

I wonder if he will face the same consequences as Paula Deen?

If he were a conservative and said the same thing would you still be making excuses for him?

r

It would make no difference. I am partisan like that.

I just found out that was 27 years ago, these ****ing bithes compllaining about her need to get a life!

Baldwin is a crazy drunk who says stupid stuff. He isn't getting a pass any more than Mell Gibson did or anyone else.
