Revolt Among Republicans on Immigration Bill: 70 House Members Risk Careers in Planned Showdown With Leadership | TheBlaze.com

Seventy House Republicans are planning a politically risky showdown with Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) to try to force additional debate on an immigration bill they say will mean amnesty for illegal immigrants and have dire consequences for the country.

The 70 members are petitioning for a special Republican conference meeting on the bill, a “highly unusual” move to go head-to-head with the speaker, according to Reps. Michele Bachmann (Minn.), Steve King (Iowa) and Louie Gohmert (Texas), who are serving as spokespersons for the group.....

Nice to see someone in Congress actually standing up for what they believe in. It won't change anything in the end but it may make for some sensational news the next few days.

Uh-oh, Josie. After reading those three names, I'm having a prophetic moment re this thread.

I've suspected Boehner of being a weasel.

Boehner is just uncomfortable to look at. I bet he smells of coffee, cigarettes, and tanning bed. He's like the old lady in What About Mary.

You wish everyone in Congress would step back for 12 months and do what's right. Then they can go back to political muckery thereafter.

Some REALLY bad decisions are being made right now that are going to ruin the United States not long from now.

I hope they succeed. This amnesty is a bad idea at a bad time!
To me Boehner,Reid in the Senate are total political hacks.
They aren't looking out for the country's best interests.

I would love to see all of the leadership-both sides be defeated!!

Along with everybody else in congress. A single term limit is the answer.

Been hearing that for decades now.

While I agree bad decisions are being made, don't you Cons ever get tired of saying "ruin the United States" by now? I mean you use it for everything. First it was, "The United States is finished if we do Obamacare", then it was "The United States is finished if we re-elect Obama" and now this.

It's like the Doomsdayers that keep predicting the End of the World and continuously get proven wrong.

Look, I agree that there are many bad decisions, but when you guys keep going into "Doom and Gloom" mode it just gets old and sounds more like whining.

Boehner needs to be watched constantly. It doesn't matter what the issue is, Boehner always wants to surrender as quickly as possible.

Good. If he goes along and tries to pass a bill with almost solely Democrat votes his career will be over. They need to follow the "Hastert Rule". No bill comes up that does not have majority Republican support.

Maybe the remember the disaster that the last amnesty bill turned out to be.

sounds like one party rule. Boehner is the speaker of the house, not the speaker of just the republican congressmen. Eric cantor is the majority leader in the house, pelosi is the minority leader, Boehner is supposed to represent the entire lower house.

How many times did Pelosi take up bills that didn't have majority Democrat support? Probably never.
It's called politics. Harry Reid plays it every day, changing rules as he goes along.

Why is this nimrod still in a leadership position? Good grief he's not effective, he's not good for the party or it's image. Kick his orange butt to the curb and let's move onward.

Damn! Was Nancy Pelosi aware of this?

Gotta do what it takes.

I think if he tries to pass this immigration bill he will be ousted. Hardly any house Republicans want it.

Boehner needs to be watched constantly. It doesn't matter what the issue is, Boehner always wants to surrender as quickly as possible.

And yet the GOP OVERWHELMINGLY decided to keep him, so what does that say about YOUR GOP?

Please, if he wasn't ousted already, what makes you think he will now? The GOP OVERWHELMINGLY agreed to keep him.

It is actually their own demise they foresee. Any movement lead by those three is bound to look like a class of clowns. Funny how you never hear any talk about Reagan's role in amnesty.

It's been talked about a lot lately, specifically in the context that 1) The fact of Reagan granting amnesty did NOT increase Hispanic votes for Republicans and 2) Reagan's grant of amnesty initiated the foreign colonization that destroyed California and turned the former "Golden State" into the unsustainable Liberal welfare state that it is today.

The fact of the Gang of Eight Amnesty Bill before Congress right now has resulted in an analysis of the actual results of the Reagan Amnesty grant and there are even reports that, prior to his death, Reagan himself noted what a terrible mistake he had made in granting amnesty.

Hispanics are not that stupid to think they should vote for republicans because they grudgingly agree to pass immigration reform. Republicans are so stupid they don't think they have do actually do the right thing.

Was that before or after he developed Alzheimers?
