Boy Tackled & Arrested For 'Clenched Fists' & 'Dehumanizing Stare'

I just can't believe how those racist pigs treated that poor teen.

That bravado may sound cool when you repeat it in your mind, but in real life doing that will either get you tased or shot about 90 times, or until the cop's partners run out of ammo. IF you survive the encounter, you can look forward to a massive beating of your own.

I rather have that then go on my whole life wishing I would have stopped some badge wearing thug from beating some helpless person to a pulp. Lets hope no crooked cops ever do anything that bad around me, yeah? I know I wouldn't be able to control my body from stopping um.

They should have written him up for the dog and then followed him to his Mom.

Miami-Dade County Code of Ordinances. Chapter 5. Animals and Fowl.

Sec. 5-20. - Regulations on dogs in public areas.

(a) Legislative intent. It is deemed in the best interests of the health, safety and welfare of the citizenry and visitors of Miami-Dade County, Florida, that all necessary precautions be implemented to prevent cutaneous larva migrans (a frequently severe skin disorder caused by the infective larvae of a dog hookworm which is transmitted by the contact of the human skin with soil contaminated by dog feces), and visceral larva migrans (a disease caused by the ingestion of larvae dog roundworms which commonly occurs when young children swallow dirt).

(b) It shall be unlawful for a responsible party to allow, whether willfully or through failure to exercise due care or control, a dog into or upon any public park or beach in the county; provided, however, this provision shall not apply to parkways, wayside parks, or other park areas in which dogs are specifically authorized.

(c) It shall be unlawful for a responsible party to allow, whether willfully or through failure to exercise due care or control, a dog to commit any nuisance upon: the sidewalk of any public street; the floor of any common hall in any apartment house, hotel, or other multifamily dwelling; or any entranceway, stairway or wall immediately abutting on a public sidewalk; or the floor of any theatre, shop, store, office building or other building used in common by the public. "Nuisance," for the purposes of this section, shall be defined as defecation and/or urination. If a dog defecates on the grassy swale of a public right-of-way or other such public property, or on private property without the express or implied consent of the property owner, the responsible party shall remove the defecation and deposit it in an appropriate trash receptacle, sanitary disposal unit, or other sealed container.

(d) It shall be unlawful for a responsible party to allow, whether willfully or through failure to exercise due care or control, a dog to be unrestrained or to be at large in any manner in or upon: public property; a common area of a private building or development; or the private property of others without the express or implied consent of the property owner. Notwithstanding the foregoing, a dog may be unrestrained and shall not be deemed to be at large if it is supervised by a competent person and is: (i) in a park area in which dogs are specifically authorized by a municipality or by the County to be unrestrained; or (ii) engaged in the sport of hunting in an authorized area. An intact dog running at large shall be subject to higher civil penalties than a sterilized dog; provided, however, that if the dog is sterilized within 30 days of receipt of the civil violation notice, the penalty shall be reduced to the amount for a sterilized dog. An intact dog shall be sterilized if it has received more than two civil violation notices for violations of this section that, if appealed, have been affirmed.

(e) It shall be unlawful for a responsible party to fail to exercise proper care and control of his dog or dogs so as to allow the dog or dogs to become a public nuisance. Chasing vehicles or persons and trespassing upon public or private property in such a manner as to damage property shall be deemed a public nuisance.

(f) Exceptions. Subsections (b) through (d) of this section shall not apply to a person using a service animal or to a law enforcement officer using an animal for law enforcement purposes. Subsection (e) shall not apply to a law enforcement officer using an animal for law enforcement purposes.

(Ord. No. 08-10, § 3, 1-22-08; Ord. No. 10-27 , § 1, 5-4-10)

Yes, it does.

We live in a republic, not a fascist state. The police are supposed to protect the citizens, not harrass them.

And 14, your "child" status is subject to change depending upon your behavior.

According to who and what?

The boy is saying he was taking the cops to his mom as requested, and reacted to being grabbed. The cops are saying his body language and behavior was indicative of threat, and they took him down because they believed he was about to be violent. They're claiming he was resisting arrest when he jerked his arm away from a grab.

If someone made any attempt to touch me against my will, or especially to try to grab and/or restrain me, my first, instinctual reaction would be to try to jerk away from that. That's how I would expect just about anyone else to react.

That is nuts. Jerking away isn't felony resisting, nor is posturing or fist-clenching in and of itself, violence.

In me, at least, fist-clenching seems to be a normal, involuntary reaction to emotional stress. If I am fearful or angry or in significant pain or otherwise greatly stressed, my fists clench. Perhaps, deep in my subconscious mind, this is a product of a “fight or flight” situation being processed, but it does not correlate to any conscious thought or intent on my part to commit an act of violence.

I would not be the least bit surprised to see this same reaction in a young man being harassed by larger, men who appear to have hostile intent toward him.

Does the kid have an attitude problem? After watching the video I'm pretty sure he does, yeah.... but I'm thinking the cops that took him down probably do too.

Having an “attitude problem” is not a crime.

Give it a rest. Until you've walked in their shoes you obviously haven't clue one. Any lifeform with at least half a functioning brain knows you don't mouth off to police. Hopefully the kid learned a valuable lesson, judging from the comments here however, he probably won't. Which will lead him directly to learning it more painfully later in life.

We aren't talking about mouthing off to some hoodlums on the street. The are cops. And they are just further perpetrating the stereotype that cops are just hoodlums themselves, slaves to their base emotions. Certainly not the type of people to trust with any authority.

Initial thoughts:

14 year old with what looks like a pitbull puppy "roughhousing" on the beach.
Mom standing there filming her son getting taken down. Phone isn't moving much, why is she so calm?
No mention of a tazer, nothing screams authority like a tazer.
Miami, always something going on.
Dean Graziosi is going to make me rich!

Probably a little excessive perhaps but I think the story has been a little dramatized by the family members.

The one line " poor little innocent puppy", oh my god.

You must respect the badge. You may not agree with an individual policeman but you must respect the badge and cooperate. If you were done wrongly that can come out later.

Unfortunately nobody filmed the body slamming of another kid.
