Obama’s poll numbers hold up despite the storm of scandal

The Faux news poll skews the results.

So does the CNN poll and the Pew Research poll. That's why the Real Clear Politics poll is good, it takes all the polls and takes their average.

:laughat:

President Obama's approval ratings are going UP despite the three controversies that are currently brewing and the negativity expressed in the polls by Rassmussen and Fox News.

The Real Clear Politics average of approval ratings shows the president with a considerably closer spread, at 48.6 approval and 47.6 disapproval. The average is dragged down by three recent polls from Rasmussen, Fox News, and The Economist/YouGov, which show him below water on favorability by 2, 6, and 5 percentage points respectively.

So this is liberal reality? Three polls show Obama's popularity waning and one shows it gaining. This shows poll numbers holding up?

According to the poll, conducted from May 22-May 28 among 1,419 registered voters, 45 percent approve of Mr. Obama's job performance, and 49 percent disapprove. In a Quinnipiac poll published May 1, 48 percent of registered voters approved of the president's performance, and 45 percent disapproved.

Obama's Approval Ratings Drop Amid Scandals - Reason 24/7 : Reason.com

President Barack Obama gets a negative 45 - 49 percent job approval rating, compared to 48 - 45 percent positive in a May 1 survey by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University, conducted before the IRS allegations surfaced.

The president's biggest drop is among independent voters, who give him a negative 37 - 57 percent score, compared to a negative 42 - 48 percent May 1. He gets a negative 9 - 86 percent from Republicans and a positive 87 - 8 percent from Democrats, both virtually unchanged. Women approve 49 - 45 percent while men give a negative 40 - 54 percent score.

Americans are divided 49 - 47 percent on whether Obama is honest and trustworthy, down from 58 - 37 percent, the last time Quinnipiac University asked the question September 1, 2011.

You need some sort of shred of evidence of something before you accuse someone of something.
What did Obama reply when they asked when he found out about the IRS targeting Tea Party organizations?

He affirmed he was not aware of an IG investigation. If he was you would really have something to outrage about. He gave the correct answer, he found out about it when eveyone else did. OMG, if he had known about it before hand the RW blogosphere would have melted down by now.

Even that's not exactly accurate ... but, regardless, the question was when he found out the IRS was doing what it did ... he answered a question that wasn't asked.
He chooses words veeeery carefully ... not to assure accuracy but to be evasive.
The IRS scandal is just one example.
Why do you think he just didn't say he never had any idea the IRS was targeting Tea Party organizations until he read it in the news? Would have been simple.

So did Nixon's when Watergate broke.

It's natural for the people to surround the wagons around a corrupt President in the beginning. They'll turn on him after there's no one left to throw under the bus.

But the longer they wait the more damage their will be to the Democrat Party. That will lead to at least 12 years with a Republican in the White House.

Odd, seems like you guys had a little trouble even finding someone to run last time.

Know what... there's only one winner and that was Obama. Amerika won, and America lost. That was more than a half year ago. We're on to 2014 now and thankfully Obama has made himself a lame duck.

Those scandals didn't happen because Republicans invented them. They're not molehills either. Lying about Benghazi, running guns to mobs in Mexico, shopping a judge to spy on a journalist, using the IRS as a weapon... that's serious sheet mon.

Of course... you're a Kool Aid swilling Lib, and well... ASSUME POSITION LIBERAL!

It's your time to... dealwithit.

You DO understand don't you that the "Fast and Furious" you make reference to was a GWB Justice Department program. True....Obama continued it, but you cannot distance yourself from the fact that it was a Bush program.

When you look at the numbers, good or bad, inbetween, or lop sided etc etc what seems to come through when it comes to obama is a deeply felt sense of a president that is just like you and me, everyday people. Its not an over reach in any sense of the spectrum to come to the conclusion that love is what this administration has for us and it truly wants the best for us. Comforting and supportive seems to come through the polls as well. Amazing to have a president that cares so much for us.

Are you NUTS?

The executive branch is suppose to EXECUTE the will of the people, as determined by CONGESS.

Not execute the WILL of the president. I think Obama never even READ the Constitution!

Did you read that in the Onion?

No matter how much you wish otherwise, none of these scandals are really that important. They're still nothing to Watergate, and most of them have very little to do with the president personally. But let's look at this supposed damage to the Democratic party. Hrm... Nope, I'm pretty sure the country as a whole is still pissed about the tax cuts for the rich and two wars putting us into this recession. And then Republicans doing everything in their power to continue the recession so they can use it as ammo to regain power. If the right had goals besides "get more power" and had an agenda that would actually improve the nation for more than a small minority of rich white heterosexual Christian (and some Jewish) men, then maybe it could get somewhere. But it doesn't.

Nope, only socialist are "pissed" about the rich. Socialist never liked those people who broke a sweat and became successful.

BTW:
The recession officially ended in June of 2009. And it was liberal policies that caused the housing meltdown that led to a financial crisis with in the financial institutions. Basically it was the "Urban Redevelopment Act" and ACORN who caused the recession.

It was Obama's lack of knowledge how the free market capitalism works and spending almost a trillion dollars paying off the unions and protecting civil service union jobs instead of putting money in to the private sector to put Americans back to work why the economy hadn't fully recovered as fast as it should have. Obama was more concerned with passing Obama Care instead of the recovery of the economy.

Actually, most of the recession was caused by a company called Mortgage Electronic Registration Systems. The housing bubble and subsequent crash was crafted by them, with lots and lots of support through banking deregulation. That deregulation began in the 1980s under Reagan, and was heavily championed by congressional Republicans. They continued to champion it through the 90s, and Bill Clinton is certainly culpable for allowing it. The same trends continued in the 2000's, given a lot of support by the Bush administration. It was letting the "free market" run off unchecked, and removing not only a lot of the rules that kept them from insane amount of corruption, but also the oversight that held them accountable to the few rules left. From 1997 onwards, MERS engaged in just about every duplicitous banking practice possible and swindled billions, if not trillions of dollars. The owners of MERS made fortunes while honest, hardworking Americans lost their life savings and their homes. That is to say, those owners, through their grossly criminal actions, supported by primarily Republican legislation, took those citizens' life savings and their homes. And I'll bet you've never even heard of this company, have you?

And you'll have to explain some decent reason why private sector jobs are somehow more important than public sector ones. The point is to get people employed, earning salaries, purchasing products and services, and paying taxes. What difference does it make if they're paid by a private or public entity?

Actually the housing bubble bursting was because of the Urban Reinvestment Act and leftist organizations like ACORN who forced banks to issue sub-prime loans to people who weren't qualified. The banks were threaten of being labeled as racist if they didn't approve a home loan to unqualified home buyers.

When the Bush administration tried to get a bill passed in the Senate that would require more government oversight of Freddie and Fannie, then Senator Obama filibuster in the Senate killing the bill. As Rep. Barney Frank said, Freddie and Fannie are in great shape.

I think your right...I just got caught up in all the leftist denial that has taken place about the scandals and needed to tap into that mindset with an absurd post similar to this absurd thread bringing a poll into this administration's mess, like it somehow vindicates them. Obama rapes his dog...well let's bring in a poll. Obama farts on the prime minister of England. Let's bring in a poll. Obama shoots tea partiers. Let's bring in a poll because as long as the majority accept his antics in a poll its ok???
