DOJ tracked movements, phone records of Fox News reporter

So like I've been saying, if you don't have a problem with the PATRIOT Act, you shouldn't have a problem with the government reviewing that reporter's phone records:

Obama administration defends collecting telephone records of US citizens - The Washington Post

The FISA court order, signed by Judge Roger Vinson, compelled Verizon to provide the NSA with electronic copies of “all call detail records or telephony metadata created by Verizon for communications between the United States and abroad” or “wholly within the United States, including local telephone calls,” The Guardian said.

The law on which the order explicitly relies is the “business records” provision of the USA Patriot Act.

And like Ive been saying, youre wrong. Theres nothing wrong with the Patriot ACT. Its the people who abuse it, and when its used in conflict with explicit constitutional provisions.

This ought to be fun. The apologists are probably twisting hard right now to defend a practice that is finally affecting them. After we dismiss the "it's Bush's fault" posts we can get to the business of defining exactly where the lines are and how much liberty the Obamabots are willing to give up for their own good. I seriously doubt we are going to be able to change it, but it will be interesting to see if the metadata collected includes GPS information. If so, it may be possible to use this information to enforce existing driving and texting laws. GPS information would be able to indicate travelling speed, time of day would indicate commute times, your ticket could simply be added to your cell phone bill. Or better yet, for those of you who still support Obamacare, the provision that allows direct access to bank accounts for billing purposes could be used to simple draft the fines from your account. As with the IRS, it would be up to you to dispute the charges after the fact.

What? Too much? Suck it up buttercup, it's for your own good.

By this statement, you demonstrate either a) your complete ignorance of the US Constitution, or b) your utter contempt for that document.

Either way, it's subjects like you that empower tyranny.

Ad hominem.

Ad hominem.

Not really, it's just a reply to your previous post in which you make the specious claim that on this issue the Constitution has been obeyed. If you think you can defend your position, give it a shot.

No ad hom, just the brutal truth that you would rather not address in a substantive post. :peace

This was done via a court order, just as it was "supposed" to be done under the law. How can it be abuse of the law when it was used in a way it was designed to be used -- just because you don't like this particular use?

Ohhh, so you were only joking when you stated that "Fox isn't really news"_

Thank you for clearing that up, calamity! :inandout:

Fox and News is oxymoronic.

Fox and News is oxymoronic.
You must have viewed quite a bit of Fox News to have gained such amazing insight on their reporting_

Surely your opinion is not based on ideopolitical bias or left-wing propaganda?!

Would you care to recommend a cable or network news organization which you feel is worthy of your respect?

You know what I'm talking about calamity__One that truly reports "fair and balanced" trustworthy news?

I haven't watched tv "news" in 4 or 5 years. But, I recall CNN was reasonably f&b. Fox is RW propaganda fed soecifically to low information voters. O'Reily, Hannity, Fox & Friends...those aren't news programs; they're entertainment, like Morton Downey Jr used to be.

When you can make a substantive post without personal insults I will happy to give rebuttal a shot. :peace

That, along with his choice for "fair and balanced" tells the complete story of Calamity's World_

Another unfortunate victim of the far-left propaganda machine, convinced he is self-programmed_

I've seen clips and read all about Fox's bias and the fact that its viewers are ill-informed.

We all lnow that people watching Fox think Egypt is next to Iraq, and think that Obama is a Muslim from Kenya.
Fox News Middle East map fail - Egypt - Iraq - Failure Analysis - Failure magazine |

If you seriously believe this nonsense, then it is you who is misinformed and extremely gullible as well__"Failure Magazine"__You have got to be kidding me dude?

The fact that you blindly accept such ridiculous accusations from a junk internet source with no question of its accuracy indicates you are content in the bliss of ignorance_

And even if Fox did replace Iraq with Egypt, do you actually believe there is even one single news organization that has never made a mistake in a rush to meet a deadline?

Btw, do you recall when your beloved President Obama claimed there was 57 states, not to mention his multiple references to the United States Marine Corpse?

If you really want to question someones intelligence, you should start with the current leader of the free world who refuses to allow his academic records to be made public_

Hmmm, I wonder whasupwidat?!

Hit a nerve, didn't I? Everyone knows Fox viewers are the least informed of all, worse than people who don't even follow news, and far worse than those who watch CNN or even MSNBC. And, of course, those listening to NPR are the most informed people out there.
People who watch MSNBC and CNN exclusively can answer more questions about domestic events than people who watch no news at all. People who only watch Fox did much worse. NPR listeners answered more questions correctly than people in any other category.
Survey: NPR’s listeners best-informed, Fox viewers worst-informed | Poynter.
Guess what I listen to while driving. Hint --it ain't Rushbo.

TV news isn't exactly designed for your sharper tacks or brighter crayons. In fact, I suggest everyone turn that crap off and seek out sources which cover news stories in far more depth. Sound bite partisan hackery isn't news. It's propaganda.

Sad is if you don't see it.

Oh my, I suppose reminding me of my ignorance has "hit a nerve" calamity_

I had no idea you listened to such a fair and balanced and unbiased news organization such as NPR_

How could I have possibly ever mistaken such a well informed person like yourself as being just another one of the gullible programmed media suckers?!

Have a nice day_

I'm what you might call a "news nut"__I listen to all major news/media programming_

Primarily because I want to be kept informed of what they are trying to make us believe_

All news from all sources is now filtered through ideopolitical propaganda and indoctrination_

CBS, ABC, NBC, MSNBC and NPR on the left along with Fox and AM radio on the right_

NPR is by far the most egregious because it is funded in part by American taxpayers_
