Report: Sixers guard Nick Young sued; accused of sexual*assault | SI Tracking Blog

Philadelphia 76ers guard Nick Young is being accused of sexual assault in a lawsuit, with the woman claiming Young gave her a drug and then raped her, reports TMZ.com.

The woman filed the lawsuit anonymously under the name Jane Doe, saying she met Young at a bar in West Hollywood and that Young bought her and her friend a drink.

The woman is suing Young for sexual battery, sexual assault, false imprisonment, and seeking unspecified damages. The women is also suing the bar that she met Young in for negligence.

More from TMZ.com:

According to the suit, the woman’s recollection of the evening ceased shortly after she downed the drink … and she believes it’s because Young had slipped the date rape drug gamma-Hydroxybutyric acid (GHB) into it.

According to the suit, the woman demanded to be taken home by Young — he obliged — and she beelined for the UCLA Santa Monica Rape Treatment Center, where she took a rape kit and was tested for STDs. She claims a test at the center confirmed she had been drugged, and determined the injuries to her vagina and rectum were consistent with rape.

I find it odd that she immediately went to the hospital where she took a rape kit back in 2011, yet no arrest or criminal charges for two years? Wouldn't the hospital be obligated to inform authorities when she took the rape kit? Also, why would the bar be responsible?

I could think of several -- several having to do with $$. It's possible the DA didn't think the state could prove a criminal case and it took some time to come to that decision. It's possible she didn't report it to police figuring she'd soft blackmail Young into a settlement. It's possible she hoped she was pregnant so she didn't report it. It's possible it ate and ate at her until she was compelled to come forward with a civil suit.

She's going to have a tough road to travel, though, if this is what she's going to testify to:

If her recollection of the evening really did cease shortly after she downed the drink, how does she remember that Young took her home? And how did she manage to "beeline" to the Rape Treatment Center?

Charges coming so far down the road against a professional athlete cause me to be highly skeptical. Sorry, ladies.

It seems more like he took her home AFTER the rape, so that could have been the next morning. Maybe her recollection of the following morning is less cloudy.

Two years is a pretty common statute of limitations for personal injury claims. Why sue the bar? Because she probably doesn't know who slipped her the alleged drugs so they are not ruling out the bartender so they are keeping a potential claim against them alive would be my guess, but IDK.
