Americans really, really trust Hollywood. They are, however, far more skeptical of Washington, D.C.

A new survey on the most trusted people in America finds actors taking the top three spots: Tom Hanks, Sandra Bullock and Denzel Washington. The first politician to appear on the list is former President Jimmy Carter, who comes in at number 24.

Carter, 88, often referred to as the most successful ex-president in American history, has earned bipartisan praise since leaving office for his work on behalf of various humanitarian causes.

During his successful 1976 presidential campaign, Carter won over a majority of American voters with his “Trust Me” campaign slogan.

The surveyed asked 1,000 participants who they trusted the most and was conducted by The Wagner Group for Readers Digest.

President Obama made the list as well but came in at number 65.

According to the list, Obama was edged out by none other than Adam Sandler, named the 64th most trusted person in America.

No other former president made the list, though Hillary Clinton, a potential 2016 candidate, came in at number 51....snip~

Regardless of what you think of him as a president, he embodies some of the best qualities of humanity. Of course, you need to take off your rancid partisan hat to see it.

WTH are you on about.....I was giving Jimmy Mac some Kudos, some Props.

In your Old English.....that's called Respect. ( I know.....that was a perfect lead in for Aretha and Some R.E.S.P.E.C.T. )

I have always thought Jimmy Carter was a man of high morals and a good man all around but horrible president. His moral standing is more significant due to the fact he was the last president with any morals at all until Obama.

To be honest, I have difficultly understanding most of your posts, except for when you quote articles or other people. Maybe it's the barrage of smilies.

Regardless, what I said was the truth. Some people have a real hate on for Carter.

I agree. A great person, just a bad president.

Obama... Morals... WTF...

I would have to agree with you Mak.....I doubt to many on the Right can deny that Carter despite being a Horrible President was a Good Man. Not all into that smack talking.

Always led in talking with Respect. Even if he disagreed with them. At least he would listen.

Cant say the same for Obama.

No, Sister Teresa embodies the best traits of humanity. And he's no longer a politician, but an ordinary citizen. Rancid partisanship is putting him on a pedestal.

I would have to very strongly disagree with you about Teresa, but that is for another forum.

Who would have thought? Why, no one who thinks at all.

Sadly no. I find failed and bitter old anti-Semitic madmen to be slightly untrustworthy.

Why is he an anti-Semite? Where has he expressed a dislike of Jews, or other Semitic races?

I highly doubt that most americans even know who Jimmy Carter is, beyond name recognition.

MMC just outed himself as a Jimmy Carter hater. I guess I wasn't wrong, after all.

He was a ****ing peanut farmer who gave us 21% interest rates and was unable to rescue the Iranian hostages.

I have seen Chihuahuas who would make better Presidents than Carter.

Screw him.

This should keep you busy for a while.

I'm not going through all those links. I asked a simple question. Is it because he's critical of Israeli policies, or because he understands when an oppressed people react violently? I want a quote stating that he hates or dislikes Jews. Something reputable and verifiable, would be nice.

The very fact that Americans consider people who fake it for a living to be the most trustworthy is a pretty sad commentary on the intellectual capacity and connection to reality that the average American in 2013 seems to have.

What an embarrassment.

Not everyone takes up painting dogs and bath tub scenes after their public service. Some people engage in massively successful humanitarian causes, which make a real difference in the lives of millions. Such phonies!

Perhaps, but I'd still trust him over any politician.

Wasn't that everybody on the list? Actors and politicians...

Problem is, who are you going to get that enough people have heard of? I trust my Dad, but for most people he'd elicit a "who's that."
