Cumulus: Nearly All Top Advertisers Have 'Exclude Rush Limbaugh' Orders

No, but I can understand how your wish to see people like Rush and Hannity silenced doesn't strike you as censorship. I can also appreciate how much you hope what you believe is true.

Rush would still have his right to free speech, that isn't being silenced. Even being off the radio, he's not going to shut up. I'm not sure why you think he would.

Failing to fund Limbaugh's advertisers isn't censorship.

You know, even if the major advertisers pull, Limbaugh will still be #1. The infrastructure around him would just be less profitable. People will lose jobs, but liberal/progressives will celebrate such job losses, out of spite.

Maybe, but if there's no advertisers, there's no radio show. Free Enterprise and all....

Why do you think people boycott advertisers?

I take it you aren't familiar with ovarian cysts. You know, one of the key points Fluke brought up in that transcript you linked but clearly didn't read? Keep digging, dude! Maybe you'll discover that there's more than one type of birth control pill.

Oh, another thing I should point out: taxpayers wouldn't be funding this. You see, there's these things called insurance premiums...
Insurance which WAS actually paying for her oral contraceptives...at the Jesuit university she and her imaginary pet friend were attending. IN the video of her statements to the democrats bemoaning the LACK of oral contraceptives her imaginary friend couldnt get, she actually admitted that luckily for her she WAS covered. Didja miss that part?

Good morning, Ocean515. :2wave:

Sure seems strange to me that the one person who is being targeted is Rush! Makes one wonder why....sarcasm intended...Oddly, his listeners are increasing all the time. Hmmm...

Good morning Polgara :2wave:

Perhaps there will come a time when I can understand why it's more important to silence, than it is to just turn the channel. Equally, perhaps there will be a time when I understand why the call to silence another isn't seen as the slippery slope it most certainly is...

I'm out of here in a few minutes - business meeting in San Diego - so I'll "look" for you later. Hope all is well in Ohio. :2wave:

I really hope this is the beginning of the end for Rush. I also really hope this is a signal that the country is sick and tired of political garbage for entertainment and is more interested in real discussion.

Sorry, but Limbaugh has never depended on "top" advertisers, who have always been afraid to advertise with him. He's got his own mix of advertisers many of whom only advertise on his show, share his ideas, and are not going to be frightened away by the huffing and puffing of left wingers. Some of these companies you've probably never heard of. If you've ever bothered to actually listen to the show then you'd know this is true.

Limbaugh has lost no ad revenue to speak of. A show that draws 20 million listeners every day isn't going to have trouble selling ad space no matter what. Efforts at getting advertisers to boycott are completely wasted.

And even if something happened to Limbaugh you've got to realize that there are dozens of talkers who'd love to become the next Limbaugh. There's a talker in Houston named Michael Berry who might some day do that. He is already syndicating his show all over the place. (Man, if you think Limbaugh is racist you're gonna love Berry.)

And in a note of irony, listeners of Rush are the people who actually have money to buy advertisers' products. His detractors, meanwhile, are watching MTV and can't get a credit card.

What's wrong with Oxycontin?

Hillbilly heroin? There's a LOT wrong with it. I'm not going to pound away on Rush's addiction to it, because I have a friend of mine who was also addicted to it. It was prescribed by his doctor for pain, after he was in an accident. He got addicted, and had to go through rehab to get off of it. For him, it was hard as hell. So, if Rush is no longer on it, and was able to get off it, then more power to him. He still sucks, but if he can beat that kind of drug habit, then he is a little stronger than a lot of people give him credit for. And I'll give him that.

LOL, so true!

Tim-

Hillbilly Heroin implies that it's a milder form of heroin but it is far stronger and more addictive than heroin. My comment was acidulous - I've had the misfortune to become acquainted with Oxycontin and yes, his recovery shows a great strength of will.

I've never viewed Rush as anything but an entertainer. Political exaggeration is what he sells in the same way that Die Hard is not accurate as a police procedural.

That's part of what this is all about. His crap has crossed the line too many times and he is toxic to too many advertisers.

Regardless " his crap" pales in comparison to the Democrat lies and Democrat failure.

He calls them on their BS and you guys want to shut him up.

That must be it. that must be what has put him on top of the radio charts for...how many decades has he been doing this?

I didnt see a whole lot of influential liberal or 'progressive' programs. Ive heard a few of them. I understand why that is. You have the Limbaughs and Hannitys of the world, and then you have liberals and progressives spending all their day talking ABOUT the Limbaughs and the Hannitys. Its...sad, really.

hell we wouldnt know anything about the day to days of Fox, Beck, and others if it werent for the oh so happy liberals and progressives on this site,.

It's true that progressives and other educated people don't tend to listen to ranting Oxycontin addicts on the radio. It's a real problem for the left.

Ahh yes, the old "liberals don't have jobs" meme. Thank you for the wonderful contribution.

Rush embodies everything that is repulsive about that pathetic hate group called the Republican party. I've turned on lately to see who still sponsors that coward. Mostly it's station promos. Looks like the advertisers are bailing.

It's among the postulates of science. Everybody is a liberal until they make some real money, unless making that was tied to exploiting the liberal agenda.

Can't wait until you publish your paper. Which journal are you submitting to?

Haven't decided, but it'll be available for liberals with pop-ups and illustrations, titled "How to get, show up for, and keep a job."

I'll keep that in mind just in case I decide to shut down my business and go work for someone else.

Obama's doing all he can to do that for you.

You should publish this very scientific study!
