Cumulus: Nearly All Top Advertisers Have 'Exclude Rush Limbaugh' Orders

Why then, the silence would be deafening...

Besides, it's important for America to avoid those who try to decide for themselves who should, and shouldn't be allowed to express an opinion.

Probably the reason god invented doors, and on/off switches.

This is a perfect example of what I'm talking about. You are fixated on the idea that somebody is trying to control you, control your radio station, control free speech. You think "they" are trying to take your liberties. Where did you get this idea from? Rush? Another similar source?

I really hope this is the beginning of the end for Rush. I also really hope this is a signal that the country is sick and tired of political garbage for entertainment and is more interested in real discussion.

Then, a very high ranking Cumulus official sent the following statement to Radio Ink, and asked not to be sourced. "Forty-eight of the top 50 network advertisers have “excluded Rush and Hannity” orders. Every major national ad agency has the same dictate." That's a stat Premiere Radio flat out denied. “That statement is completely inaccurate. A number of the top spenders in the medium use talk radio to promote their brands and sell product, and many of them use The Rush Limbaugh Show and The Sean Hannity Show as the driving force of their marketing efforts.”

Sounds like the entire huffpost article is based on an unnamed source.

Also, Huff also shows a tweet from one "Josh Blevins" as evidence of being approached, unsolicited, for cheap ad space during the Rush program. Anyone want to guess what he lists as his previously work history?

He even has the same chach photo as his twitter feed.

The political garbage that gave us our current record debt...the political garbage that gave us the Arab Spring or the political garbage that gave us death and destruction in Benghazi...speaking of real discussion...

The demographics are the problem -- all his listeners live in trailer parks, or will live there. Their major brand loyalty is to Oxycontin. That limits advertizers a bit.

Middle School let out early today huh...

That must be it. that must be what has put him on top of the radio charts for...how many decades has he been doing this?

I didnt see a whole lot of influential liberal or 'progressive' programs. Ive heard a few of them. I understand why that is. You have the Limbaughs and Hannitys of the world, and then you have liberals and progressives spending all their day talking ABOUT the Limbaughs and the Hannitys. Its...sad, really.

hell we wouldnt know anything about the day to days of Fox, Beck, and others if it werent for the oh so happy liberals and progressives on this site,.

Nobody has a right to a radio show. As Limbaugh
will soon learn as his toxic ideology is turning corporate America against him and his "slut" remarks.

He's had a right to his show for decades.

He'll survive your make believe story and continue to expose your corrupt ideology.

Um. I think you should re-read your words, and then look in a mirror...

Which as I understand it Rush does daily, your point? You want him muzzled? Good liberal.

As for the OP, a bunch of steaming BS. His show, again as I understand it, is still very popular and his numbers are high. He's not sucking for advertisers, and those who boycott him this way are either using it to satisfy their own meager customer base or trying to change their image with the public.

And despite all the talk, liberal themed radio is still sucking dust.

Muzzled? No. I'm exercising my free speech and economic freedom to choose to criticize a hateful man and refuse to purchase products from companies that advertise on his show. Many others are doing the same.

Free market at work, buddy. Funny how you guys suddenly hate the free market when it doesn't go your way.

He's had a right to his show for decades.

He'll survive your make believe story and continue to expose your corrupt ideology.

He'll always have a right to have his show. But he wont always have the financial support to keep doing it.

Anyone has a right, as long as he/she can make the radio show work, and be self-supporting. Just as you have the right to spew whatever you think, by any legal means at your disposal, so does Limbaugh. You may not agree with him, but that's what the 1st is all about.

The actions taken by so many advertisers would indicate that this is not just a "fringe opinion."

But you're right. Advertisers only care about the money. And people have targeted Rush's advertisers with boycotts, causing them to lose money. Which is exactly why the advertisers are behaving this way. There will always be listeners and therefore always advertisers, but at some point the economics of his show might no longer work out.
So then... by your own admission this is happening because of a coordinated effort to silence free speech.

Glad we got that cleared up.

Can you explain why HuffPost's only named source within their article is a former Vice President of the Young Democrats of America and former President of the Young Democrats of Arkansas?

Glad we got that cleared up.

Suddenly my choice to not purchase a product is an attempt to stifle free speech. That's a laugh coming from the so-called supporters of individual liberty.

I think you're a bit confused. I posted a link and made an argument supporting Rush Limbaugh's demise. You misinterpreted that as support for censorship. I made a post explaining that was not my intention at all and that your fears may have come from the very show I am against. Now you are suggesting that because I am critical of your beliefs I should abandon my own argument? Why?

I'm really struggling to see how this even got past an editor, let alone breaking news here, when the two sources for this article is an unnamed source and the other is the former President of the Young Democrats of America.

I remember the last time Limbaughs career was 'over'. I believe it involved a slut named Sandra Fluke...

Aw come on! We need shock jocks like Rush for entertainment.

If people recognized it only as entertainment it wouldn't be a problem, unfortunately many think it is reality.

That's part of what this is all about. His crap has crossed the line too many times and he is toxic to too many advertisers.

No, I didn't write anything about censorship. I wrote that one could very easily turn the channel, or turn the radio off, if the likes of Hannity or Limbaugh bothered them.

I have also written that the standard to which you want to measure quality of speech were equally applied, very few programs of any type would be allowed to be broadcast.

I'm now thinking you may be more challenged than you realize in the area of reading and comprehending what is before you.

Your choice? That's laughable and you know it. This is a coordinated effort by a group of like minded people with the specific goal of shutting up an individual with whom they disagree. MSNBC spews just as much garbage from the other side as Rush does. You boycotting their advertisers, too? Didn't think so.

So tell me again how this ISN'T about silencing those you disagree with?

Heres a little tip for ya sparky. Some free advice-probably all it is worth. Stop spending so much of your life tying knots in your rope over people you hate. Why you give a **** about the guy is beyond me. Ive listened to more than a few liberal and progressive radio hosts on the Amerileft channel. Once. It took about that long to realize they were complete and total douchebags and to not waste another ounce of my time with them. Rush Limbaugh is a caricature(but at least he is original)...and you and people like you have kept him on the airwaves and made him the top radio show host in history and made him wealthy beyond words. Because...you know...you hate him so much.

Making vague comments about choice and what not implies censorship and similarly deflects the real issue which is America rejecting Rush and the bigger picture of America rejecting far right propaganda.

it just shows he misspelled his username

Wonderful. He represents the ugly vulgar soul of Tea Party America, which needs to be ostracized and run out of town on a rail.

Why, because they represent a threat to your socialism?
