Tornado spike in 2011 attributed to climate change. So what about the drought this yr

Re: Tornado spike in 2011 attributed to climate change. So what about the drought thi

An outbreak of horrible weather is a result a climate change just as a lack of horrible weather is a result of climate change. Hope this helps! -- Al Gore

Re: Tornado spike in 2011 attributed to climate change. So what about the drought thi

I think the vital clue is in the word "change".

Which would imply that the climate will be different each year, right?

which it has ALWAYS been, right?

Ya mean like it always has been? ;)

And, the fix is in!...LOL!!

Re: Tornado spike in 2011 attributed to climate change. So what about the drought thi

If the climate didn't change, there would be no need for weather forecasters--it would be the same thing everyday :2razz:

Re: Tornado spike in 2011 attributed to climate change. So what about the drought thi

Weather and climate oscillate substantially from year to year. Multi-decade datasets are needed to draw any meaningful conclusion about any change in climate, or lack thereof.

If the climate didn't change, there would be no need for weather forecasters--it would be the same thing everyday :2razz:

The really sad part is that some people would read this and nod their head instead of laughing.

I bet it's that stupid witch from the Wizard Of Oz again.

Yeah, and hopefully it won't change enough to make life difficult for humans, this time.

AND that if it does, it doesn't turn out to have been our fault.

As it is, we treat the world like it's a rental and nobody's name is on the lease.

Re: Tornado spike in 2011 attributed to climate change. So what about the drought thi

which it has ALWAYS been, right?

Yes.

And sometimes those changes would have been the end of us.

And could again.

Once long afo I was snake sitting for a friend.

Had a ten foot Columbian boa around my neck one morning (long story). Suddenly she clamped down. I calmly grabbed her head to get her off, and realized my arm wasn't long enough.

By the time I realized I couldn't get her off, I couldn't stand up.

I had time to realize I was about to die a REALLY stupid death before kicking an empty can at a friend passed out on the floor across the room.

Hopefully the aliens don't show up and find us dead of our own stupidity.

Re: Tornado spike in 2011 attributed to climate change. So what about the drought thi

Some people just don't understand the difference between global climate and local weather. Sheesh!!

And some people don't read sources. This thread is rife with those people, starting with the OP, who linked to a source that admits global climate change.

Re: Tornado spike in 2011 attributed to climate change. So what about the drought thi

Read the actual article and note that it does not deny climate change?

It also does not present it as the "sky is falling" that so many liberals would want us to believe

It is kinda neutral on that. It does agree that climate change is a reality.

Lordy.... let me help you with the basics here. Weather and climate are not synonymous. Weather is suppose to change day to day; climate is not suppose to change in a discernible way in a lifetime.

Lordy, let me help you with a joke here.......a joke, like clouds, can go over your head.......

Once again the AGW crowd ignores reality.

The most hated of the "Deniers" have never doubted the that the climate has warmed since the Little Ice Age (and hooray for that!). The primary argument of Richard Lindzen, Lord Monkton, Steven McIntyre, Ross McKitrick, Roger Pielke Jr&Sr, Anthony Watts, Jo Nova, Bob Carter, Richard Feynmen etc. etc. is that anthropogenic influence on the climate will be minimal and never amount to the catastrophe being sold by the fear merchants.

Pretty much down the line the group of "deniers" can be better described as "lukewarmers" as they believe that the doubling of CO2 would result in about 1.5°C rather than the 3.3°C being pushed by the IPCC and Fear Inc.

The warming of the last century, especially since the climate has refused to warm for over a decade, is proving the lukewarmers correct and Fear Inc. to be wrong and their CO2 forcing models to be greatly exaggerated.

Thank you for completely failing to address what I said.

... or pass under your feet when it likes the core humor lacks the power to get airborne....

That said, I should have seen the smiley to note it was tongue-in-cheek. My reaction was to those that think a late spring snowstorm is a rebuttal to global warming (climate change), which is something Sean Hannity is more than happy to say (though he is smarter than that, he knows his audience is not). There are those that do not get the difference between climate and weather.

Re: Tornado spike in 2011 attributed to climate change. So what about the drought thi

Some people just don't understand the difference between global climate and local weather. Sheesh!!

And some people don't realize the earth has been experiencing the same type of climate change for millions of years:roll:

It's clear YOU either didn't read the source, didn't understand the point that was made, or didn't understand the OP, because it's spot on with the article that was linked.
