Westboro Baptist Got A Warm Welcome When It Protested The OKC Game

Westboro Baptists are an embarrassment. Disagreeing (or agreeing) with certain things because of religious beliefs is legit, but going out of your way to be a dick just for the attention has nothing to do with God.

Wait, hold on here. Didn't jesus go out of his way in the story to be a dick to the romans which was why he was put up on a cross? He could have been a nice guy and just STFU and did what he was told to. His coming back to life was a total attention whore thing to do. though i do not agree with the WBC at all, I do have to say that it is probably not a good idea to dump on their tactics when that is pretty much the tactics of jesus himself.

Yeah Jesus was such a trouble maker, talking about His Father, hanging out with sinners and feeding and healing people and stuff. You're right, that's exaclty the same as what the Westies are doing. What was I thinking?

Well, it seemed to tick the people of the time off pretty well. The romans sure seemed to dislike him, the jews wouldn't back him, and even the people would rather set a killer free than him. Not to mention I am pretty sure a charitable hippie like christ who liked feeding the poor, healing people, and caring for minorities would piss the right wing off more than a third Obama presidency. Darn, did I point out the wrong thing?
 
To hold up so many signs, the WBC people must have plenty of practice at gripping multiple shafts.

Your attitude toward Jesus Christ and Christians pretty much copies the WBC attitude towards gays. We Christians recognize that WBC's behavior is despicable and I don't know of one church that endorses what they do. You, however, don't seem at all ashamed of your despicable attitude. I guess the difference is you don't really see yourself as your really are.

Was this supposed to piss me of? I notice that most of the people that seem antagonistic to Christ are not conservative.

Jesus did no speak bad of the Romans, accept to say, "render unto Caesar what is Caesar and to god what is gods".

Jesus was put on trail by the Jewish authorities, and then turned over to he Romans for death, becuase the Jews would not kill him during----> passover.

The finest person I've ever known in my entire life - the most decent - is Protestant Christian and very active in church. The next 2 are an agnostic and an atheist. One is bisexual. The other two are lesbians.

Jesus did NOTHING like the Westboro Church - exactly nothing.

Such as do not trouble yourself for the splinter in your eye, worry about the log in your own... judge not lest you be judged .. and let he who is without sin cast the first stone... plus "render to Ceasar that which is Ceasars." Never, not once, did Jesus call for anyone to die. Never did he call for revolution. Or the overthrow of a government.
Jesus also never called for the government to feed the poor, heal people or care for minorities. Jesus particularly was NOT interested in government...

at least that's how I understand it.

I have always thought this, and I recently finished reading a book about them that convinces me even more. They live for the attention. If people just walked by and ignored them... especially the media... they would be out of their minds not knowing what to do or how to react.

It is certainly a good thing christ will never come back to correct his followers or to disagree with them. This way you can live under the delusion that christ wouldn't be more hated than obama despite the reality christ would be a hard core liberal hippie type. he was probably blacker than obama too, which would really go over well with the conservative right. What I said is not supposed to piss you off. Actually having to follow the concepts of peace, forgiveness, compassion, charity, and love would make christians very angry. It is a good thing no one is forcing you to do any of that.

Weren't you the one wishing me peace and love and being done with this? Part of all of that is actually wishing me peace and love and being done with this. I guess i was not wrong when I saw how hypocritical you are.

But yeah he did piss off the romans pretty damned well. Although maybe as you are implying they just crucified him as some sort of really awesome gameshow or something because they really liked him a lot and appreciated his point of view.

Yeah, jesus made people angry enough to beat him near to death, nail him to a cross, finish the killing him part, and seal his dead zombie corpse in a cave. I guess maybe you are right because no one has actually done that to the westboro baptists yet. Perhaps I am getting the wrong message and you people are trying to tell me that jesus was better at pissing people off than the WBC? Is that what you are trying to tell me?

Maybe you do not understand it pretty well because it seems pretty simple to me you don't crucify someone you like. It wasn't like there was a lot of objections to the crucifications of christ either from the stories. No he had pretty much angered so many people that people went along with it without much protest. The WBC hasn't gotten to that level yet. Oh, and christ wasn't being political yet the bible is one of the more political works out there. From the beginning of biblical history god was just playing favorites and destroying people and empires while making kings and rulers. Yeah, nothing political there at all. not to mention the formation of what has to be one of the most powerful political forces in the world which would be the christian church. Somehow i would think an all knowing all seeing god would have known his disciples would have done that much with his words.

The next time you nail yourself to a cross use longer and more real nails.

sorry no Jesus did not speak much of the romans at all.

Jesus was asked to call forth host from heaven to destroy the romans and set the Jews free, he stated no, to conquer them would make you no better than they.

Jesus was condemned by the Jewish authorities, who would not kill him during Passover, so they asked the romans to do it, the romans did not know why, because Jesus had not done anything they knew of the warrant death, but the romans took him, and gave the crowd a choice of freedom, to who ever the crowd call to be freed, they choose a murder Barabbas over Jesus.

Jesus was send to the cross, which he already knew he was going to be crucified.

That is not what i said, but thanks for post stalking me. I knew you were a fan. I said jesus pissed off the romans. You don't have to speak directly to a person to piss them off as seen by the fact you are post stalking me because you are pissed at me yet I did not start this by speaking to you directly at all. I knew you wished me ill will, now you just have to admit you are just like the WBC and you can be free of this hypocrisy. You are trying to treat christ's death as some sort of unfortunate accident by the romans. They did not really want to kill him or hate him, they just accidentally beat him half to death, nailed him on a cross, and left him baking in the sun until he bled out. it could have happened to any one. they crucified people they liked all the time. it was a sign of love and caring in ancient rome. Some people think rome fell, but actually they just accidentally killed everyone because they were that stupid. Yeah, that makes tons of sense.

You are aware that lying is a sin, right? What does it say to god when you **** on his commandments to judge your fellow christians in the WBC as wrong for simply following jesus's trolling advice? They cannot get america to execute them like jesus, but they are trying. One has to give credit where it is due, and they are trying extremely hard to be martyred for their beliefs. I may not agree with their beliefs like other christians do, but I can at least give them credit for their devout followings of the teachings of the bible and their dedication to their religion.

Still wrong. Jesus did not piss off the Romans. This is why Pontius Pilate washed his hands of the whole mess. He saw no reason to crucify him for he had done nothing wrong. Instead of making asinine assumptions, why don't you actually read what happened?

It's funny you don't want to be stereotyped etc, but you are willing to do it to others.

We call those kind of people hypocrites.
