Threats Against Benghazi Whistleblowers Alleged [W:345/361]

Maybe our President had his newser yesterday before the shiite hits the fan on Boston & Benghazi because afterwards he won't be able to say he's not familiar with those notions.
I think you're right. I hadn't thought about that. Now would be a great time for the president to go golfing and have a hot dog or something. That way he can respond to such questions with, "Hey. We're just trying to play a round here.", or "Hey, I'm just trying to have a hot dog with a few friends." Kind of gives a human quality to his feigned ignorance. Worked before.

I can't shake the mental picture that I have of seeing half of the population in this country nodding their heads in agreement. The President did admit that his is a "hard job," so why not enjoy some golf to relax from all that pressure, right? I don't know how Michelle feels about hot dogs, though! If you put relish on them, does that qualify as a vegetable? :soap:

Sure, hot dogs can be a vegetable. We're redefining everything. Besides, any number of legislators are hot dogs and vegetables simultaneously, and that isn't easy.

LOL! "Hot dogs" and "vegetables" are the most apt description of some of our legislators I've ever seen! Kudos!!!! :lamo:

I gave you a LIKE on this because DP doesn't have a REALLY LIKE selection.
Until they do, this will have to do ...
i really like this.jpg

then generate the interest
have your republican congressmen and senators issue subpoenas requiring the supposed whistleblowers to testify before congress with congressional immunity
it's that easy
but because we see the republicans refusing to exercise this simple act, using the powers available to them, tells us there is actually nothing new to be found out

I seem to recall the Justice Dept first ignored the subpoenas and then when forced claimed executive privledge. But my comment was about the media lack of interest, not congress.

:agree: It was priceless, it summed up things brilliantly, and it was SOOO apt! Humbolt does have his moments..... Kudos on your clever "REALLY like this graphic, too!" Ditto for me....

All right, so I only read about the first three pages of posts on this thread before I got totally disgusted. Unless there was some spontaneous generation of IQ points in the last few pages, I have to say, what a bunch of total shills you people are trying to cover the government’s ample posterior on this.

We don't know much about what happened that night, both in Benghazi and Washington. Do we even know what the president did during the time of this attack?

And it sure is "shoot the messenger" time when the story comes from someone they don't like. But not CNN, they don't run with anything that's not verified, LOL!

They are pulling out every stop to do anything but address this story. Truthers! Huh? We don't even have a full account of what happened yet, but they are truthers? You have to wait until at least one version of the story comes out before you pull that one out! Unless you are hanging your small hats on the Youtube video story that they pushed.

Where was this type of reporting during Watergate, a story that was barely covered in the beginning, until those truthers at the WP wouldn't let it die? I mean, it was just a break in by nobody important at the time. Nobody died.

Yup ... On the one hand I was jealous I hadn't thought of it myself yet Humbolt is da man soooooooo ...

those were department of justice employees. what was not revealed that you would have wanted expressed?

and the congress can generate the media interest if it will issue subpoenas and hold public hearings
so, why haven't they done so?
could it be because they know it will dredge up a big fat nothing?

Lawyer up, Issa warns CIA staff.....

House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) is pushing ahead with his investigation of last year’s fatal attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, by preparing federal agencies to allow employees to lawyer up.

In separate letters to the legal offices of the CIA, State Department and Defense Department, Issa said some witnesses on the issue might need lawyers, if their agencies decide to retaliate against them for their testimony.

“During the course of the investigation, numerous individuals have approached the committee with information related to the attack,” wrote Issa in the letters, which were obtained by The Hill.

He asked agencies to provide details on how to grant outside attorneys the security clearances necessary for them to adequately represent employees discussing classified matters with congressional investigators.

Some witnesses may be required to retain personal counsel to represent them before the committee and in the event the agency subsequently retaliates against them for cooperating with the committee’s investigation,” he said.

Additional witnesses may be compelled by subpoena to give testimony to the committee and can be reasonably expected to retain personal counsel at that time.”

The letters are the latest sign that Issa is ramping up his investigation of the Benghazi attack and potential security and managerial failures that led up to it. He initially launched the probe last year, about a month after the attack.

Issa also warned the agencies against taking negative action toward any employees that help his panel with its investigation.

t is important that the agency makes clear to its employees that they are free to furnish information to Congress in accordance with their statutory rights,” wrote Issa.

Additionally, retaliation against a witness who communicates with the committee can be considered obstruction of a congressional investigation and is punishable by fine and imprisonment.”

Myself, I would say Issa is going to put to rest all of those claims about how Managerial Failures lead up to a Big Fat Nothing.

Careful what you wish for.:)

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) will press House leaders to subpoena the survivors of last year's attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi.

Graham told Fox News he would meet with Republican House leaders on Thursday to ask them to issue the subpoenas. House Republicans hold the majority in the lower chamber and have the power to subpoena the White House, while Senate Republicans do not.

Myself I would Recall Clinton.....then start off with. This time you will answer questions or Obstruct. But we will not have you explain away how We need to come together to work things out with Congress and the State. Nor sit and try and tell us how much mail comes across your desk. Deflect with how you are responsible.....but it wasn't you. Nor Will we Accept your Answer of What difference does it make. As I am about to show you what that Damn Difference is......especially since it your Negligence and Your Incompetency that we are talking about.

We dont know what wasnt revealed because it wasnt revealed. Also, hearings -

The hearing announcement comes one day after President Obama said he was unaware of complaints from potential Benghazi whistle-blowers who contend they have been threatened over their cooperation with investigators looking into the Sept. 11, 2012, attack. Mr. Obama pledged to look into the matter, and the State Department later denied there had been any official pressure on witnesses inside the administration.

Earlier Tuesday, power lawyer Victoria Toensing, a former Justice Department official and counsel to the Intelligence Committee, said at least four career officials at the State Department and the CIA are complaining that unnamed administration officials have tried to intimidate them into not cooperating with congressional investigators. The officials, whom Ms. Toensing described as whistle-blowers, have hired lawyers or are in the process of doing so.

Credit to Obama for reacting positively once pushed. Fox did exactly what the media is supposed to do. Get citizens info so they can hold the govt accoutable.

I am pretty open minded. I do admit losing my patience somewhat when it comes to conspiracies, though. mea culpa.

that being said, time will tell. if fox's agenda-driven coverage turns out to be the rare Enquirer / Edwards scenario and Obama really is some sinister character directing a top-down Nixonian conspiracy, I'll acknowledge that I was incorrect in this instance. hopefully the other side will agree to the same terms if this ends up not being Watergate.

good. what is taking them so long to do this?
could it be that they know there is nothing there

and regarding the subpoena of white house officials, i don't think so:
The President relies upon his staff to provide him candid advice. The framers of the Constitution understood this vital role when developing the separate branches of government. And if the staff of a President operated in constant fear of being hauled before various committees to discuss internal deliberations, the President would not receive candid advice, and the American people would be ill-served.... I will oppose any attempts to subpoena White House officials.... My choice is to make sure that I safeguard the ability for Presidents to get good decisions.

show us what issa has been able to reveal thus far regarding ANY investigation of Obama administration activities
he's zero for everything
prediction: another strikeout

Apples and oranges. Bush replaced political appointees, completely within this powers, and wanted info from advisors. Wheras this is about an attack on US territory which covers both branches, and they want info from witnesses.

Congress openly defying the president and sending subpoenas out to people he has banned from testifying and not allowed to talk to the media is not taken lightly by congress. It is a big move that many of the spineless wimps don't have the balls for.

wrong again
subpoenas of white house advisors will not be permitted
just as it was not permitted during the dicknbush regime

you say that but it is the republicans who have proven to be the wimps
look, no issued subpoenas
yep, the republican senators are again proving themselves to be spineless
