Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev dead brother is Tamerlan Tsarnaev, uncle Ruslan Tsarni says; MIT shooting before Boston explosion suspect killed in Watertown, MA; 2nd Boston Marathon suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev on loose | abc7chicago.com

Less was immediately known about Tamerlan, believed to be 26 when he was killed overnight in a shootout. He was the stockier one identified in video released to the public, wearing a black baseball cap and khaki pants. He was involved in martial arts, and competed in boxing matches. According to a crime website he was once arrested for domestic assault on a girlfriend.

If he was here on a student visa and got busted for domestic violence he was eligible to be deported. But hey...tolerance in this kind of thing is good...right?

Was he convicted? IDK......

More folks have been deported under Obama than his recent predecessors so you might have your dog in the wrong hunt on this one.

Re: Did Obama's lenient immigration policy allow the Boston bombing?

The answer is NO. This has nothing to do with any immigration policy and nothing to do with President Obama.

Re: Did Obama's lenient immigration policy allow the Boston bombing?

i think the older brother came as a refugee from his home country.

Re: Did Obama's lenient immigration policy allow the Boston bombing?

What immigration policy are you speaking of? Both individuals came to the country long before Obama was so much as elected, and have, by all accounts, lived as ordinary citizens (save for one arrest between the two). Hindsight is 20/20, and I simply don't see any blatant clues as to why either would be deported or denied citizenship before this incident.

Re: Did Obama's lenient immigration policy allow the Boston bombing?

Probably not, but is sure didn't help anything.

Funny...most everything 0bama is involved in doesn't really "help" anything.

...well....except for G.E., or La Raza, or unions, etc.

He got here on a student visa, then sought and got asylum as a refugee. Both of which happened before Obama was President.

So what he didn't do was round up all the refugees and legal immigrants and deport them. How evil is that?

Re: Did Obama's lenient immigration policy allow the Boston bombing?

I don't know...the FBI also looked at the guy after some "foreign agency" asked them to.
The FBI had interviewed Tamerlan Tsarnaev in 2011 after a request from a foreign government, US law enforcements officials have confirmed. But agents closed the case after finding no cause for concern.

All I'm saying is that at least one of these guys was on somebody's radar.

This isn't the kind of thing that somebody just wakes up one day and decides to do.

I think his point was the guy wasn't deported over an alleged crime he committed, after legally entering in the US.

Not that I agree with the OP, but this common practice of wildly distorting what people disagree with gets rather tiresome

I don't know that the immigration policy has really changed under Obama. I don't blame his policies because I don't know how he's changed them.

I blame mis-use of the powers under the Patriot Act. We should have been in black hat's life big time after the FBI interviewed him. Can you imagine that interview? A polite phone call to set up an appointment maybe? Or a polite knock at the door asking him to call them? Or maybe they were lucky enough to catch him at home if they stopped by? Had the final straw, the interview with the FBI, triggered monitoring him using Patriot Act powers, we would have seen his UTube videos, monitored his internet usage, checked back in at his residence a few times a year perhaps . . . been in his life big time. But it didn't. The agents who interviewed him decided of their own accord he was harmless.

They were wrong.

This isn't the kind of thing that somebody just wakes up one day and decides to do.

Neither is shooting up a school in Connecticut.

Surveillance of every single person who might be a threat is very much what a police state does. I'll take my chances if it avoids having the Stasi here.

They came to the United States when Bush was President in 2005, and unless you can show a change in immigration policy under Obama that directly relates to this situation you really have nothing to go on. In other words you need to be able to show "Obama did this change, and if it were not for this change he would have been deported."

Re: Did Obama's lenient immigration policy allow the Boston bombing?

If Obama is to blame for this, Bush is to blame for 9/11.

They were here legally, and the older brother was a citizen.

The problems with Obama's immigration policy "leniency" is that it doesn't take illegal immigration seriously enough. So while there is much to criticize, the events in Boston had nothing to do with it.

I don't know the details, but two things jump out to me:

1. Arrested, does not mean convicted.

2. There are hundreds of things that represent the incompetence of Obama - this isn't one of them.

even with a conviction, I can't imagine that anyone is going to go through the trouble of deporting someone, who's been here 10 years with a clean record, for a minor assault.

Re: Did Obama's lenient immigration policy allow the Boston bombing?

In other words, "I've got nothing really, but if I can think of a way to blame Obama, I will."

It was Obama's FBI that cleared Tamerlan, wasn't it?
And the guy had a radical website.
Outside of the age difference ol' Tamerlan could have been another one of the guys in Obama's neighborhood.

Are you seriously going to hold Obama accountable for every action the Federal Government does?

Are you trying to win the most Partisan Hackjob award here?

Not even the most radical leftist would have argued Bush was responsible for every single bad thing the government did during his terms in office. Seems like you have absolutely no concept of what the Office of the President does.

Just what IS Obama responsible for? Killing Bin Laden? That's it?

Plenty of stuff.

But it is extremely asinine and partisan to hold the President accountable for every action at every level of the Federal government.

HUD spelled something wrong on a form. THANKS OBAMA!

Seriously, you don't even try to hide the fact that your partisan hackery is out of control.

Re: Did Obama's lenient immigration policy allow the Boston bombing?

I can't imagine anybody holding the President responsible for this terrible attack.

Why not use the title from the story instead of your Fox esque style headline?

Sorry you feel that way.

Do you think a POTUS fills his/her Administration with folks who are of like mind?
We know how Obama keeps saying how we need to be nice to Muslims.
Could that have influenced the Justice Department when the FBI looked into Tamerlan when Russia warned us a couple of years ago?
For instance Bob Mueller was FBI chief under W Bush too but the FBI is under Eric Holder who heads the Justice Department.
Did Justice have anything to do with declaring Tamerlan sqeaky clean?
And if he looked clean 2 years ago, was there really nothing at all to make them think to at least put him in a tickler file when they could have discovered his website?

To closely paraphrase someone very close to you ... Seriously, you don't even try to hide the fact that your partisan devotion is out of control.
