Obama Ricin Letter Arrest Made: FBI

Today at approximately 5:15 p.m. (CDT), FBI Special Agents arrested Paul Kevin Curtis, the individual believed to be responsible for the mailings of the three letters sent through the U.S. Postal Service which contained a granular substance that preliminarily tested positive for ricin. The letters were addressed to a U.S. Senator, the White House and a Mississippi justice official. The individual was arrested at his residence in Corinth, Mississippi, following an investigation conducted by the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Forces in Memphis, Tenn., and Jackson, Miss., the U.S. Capitol Police, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the U.S. Secret Service, aided by the following state and local agencies: Lee County, Miss., Sheriff’s Office, Prentiss County, Miss., Sheriff’s Office; Corinth, Miss., Police Department; Booneville, Miss., Police Department; Tupelo, Miss., Police Department; the Mississippi National Guard 47th Civil Support Team; and the Mississippi Office of Homeland Security.

Can't imagine what he was thinking.

I hear he's an Elvis impersonator. Do with that factoid what you will. :)

I think he signed the ricin letters "KC"

I thought I heard on the radio today that he signed them "I am KC and I approve this letter" or something like that.

The arrest, two days after the letters were intercepted in mail-sorting facilities for the White House and the Capitol, was based on information collected “very early on” about who had sent the letters, said one of the officials. The letters contained a postmark from Memphis but no return address, Senate officials said.

Tupelo is the hometown of Senator Roger Wicker, the Republican senator to whom one of the letters was addressed. The letters were signed: “I am KC, and I approve this message.”

Predictable History, Unpredictable Past: Ricin Letter Terrorist: Elvis Impersonator, Martial Artist, Self-Proclaimed Mensa Member, Christian...And A Democrat?

That page puts "Democrat?" in the title but then gives no reason for doing so anywhere in the article. A particularly strange thing when some of his postings there are critical of gun control and suggesting Ted Nugent should run for president.

It''s because there's a picture of him posing in front of a car with a bumper sticker that says "Christian and a Democrat". Thing is, he's also supported a republican for DA. I suspect his politics had something to do with his wanting to "blow the whistle" on a hospital he said had a refrigerator full of body parts. :screwy:

Looks like the feds dropped the ball on this one.

Charges against Mississippi ricin suspect dropped - CNN.com

"Charges against the Mississippi man accused of sending ricin-tainted letters to President Barack Obama and other officials were dropped Tuesday, U.S. Attorney Felicia Adams said, citing "new information" that has been uncovered.

Authorities now are investigating whether someone may have tried to falsely implicate Paul Kevin Curtis, according to a law enforcement source, speaking to CNN on condition of anonymity.

Curtis said he wants to "get back to being normal" after being falsely accused.

"This past week has been a nightmare for myself and my family," he said. "My mother has suffered as well as my children."

I've read some of his internet posts. There's small chance of that ever happening

may be true.
Don't you think the feds rushed a bit on charging Curtis? By doing so and with all the media attention, his live will never be normal (or the way it was before the charges)

In hindsight, yes. But that's easy to say "in hindsight".

I'd have to see more details about how they came to their decision to charge him in order to come to any firm conclusion. However, given the potential for more deaths if it had been him, I can see why they wanted to operate out of "an abundance of caution"

And as far as his life being normal, I'm not sure it ever was

Hell froze over. We agree on something.

I generally give the feds/LE the benefit of the doubt. We may never know what info they had on this guy. It will be interesting to see where the investigation goes.
