Deal approved in Muslims' suit against McDonald's [W:40]

Re: Deal approved in Muslims' suit against McDonald's

there was also the case I cited earlier with similar concerns among hindus, that netted a 10 million dollar settlement

Posting an article like that... you run the risk of being called a racist/bigot.

And? Not sure why you felt the need to share. Is it just because the title contains that scarey word "Muslim"?

Of course it is about your fear of Muslims. We all know it...

It seems redress is stating we must as a collective learn to ignore press stories about minorities, regardless of whether they have to do with overbearing court cases and ambulance chasers or whether it has to do with terrorism. They have greater collective protections against debate than "white Christians".

for what?

Re: Deal approved in Muslims' suit against McDonald's

for what?

Simply the act of doing so.

Ask Redress... she's been the one flaming the accusations.

So filing suit for false advertising is something you disapprove of? Really?

Show me where I have called you a racist or a bigot. Bet you can't do it.

You've insinuated it more than once. Firstly in relation to blacks, and then with Muslims.

You should recall the latter... it wasn't that long ago.

I imagine it has more to do with your general posting habits, as opposed to the subject matter in the OP

Perhaps.

I suggest the hemophiliacs grow a thicker skin. They are the model of tolerance and moderation... are they not?

So you should be able to find where I called you a bigot or a racist with no problem since they stick in your mind. Hop to it.

Oh, and you did not answer the question about whether you oppose people being able to file suit over false advertising. I wonder why...

Re: Deal approved in Muslims' suit against McDonald's

I began the thred with the words "a fyi"... nothing more... your reply...

And? Not sure why you felt the need to share. Is it just because the title contains that scarey word "Muslim"?

This insinuates I'm some type of bigot or racist and was followed by...

Of course it is about your fear of Muslims. We all know it...

Not just your opinion, but it seems you speak for "We"... who is "we" Redress, and what do you, an amateur psychobabbler... insinuate by "of course it is your fear of Muslims"?

Redress... you were never ever trying to paint me as some type of bigot or racist. No... not you... you wouldn't try that... again... would you?

I suggest you retire the Obama 08 handbook for painting opponents as racists.

I've found stupid doesn't really have a clear political lean here.

Where did you get your original definition for the Word racism? You didn't post a link. From dictionary.com the definition is as follows.
[h=2]rac·ism[/h] /ˈreɪ
thinsp.png
sɪz
thinsp.png
əm/ Show Spelled [rey-siz-uh

m] Show IPA noun 1. a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.

2. a policy, system of government, etc., based upon or fostering such a doctrine; discrimination.

3. hatred or intolerance of another race or other races.

There is no mention of religion in the definition anywhere.
Did you notice that there is no definition of "race" there either?

This goes beyond simple dictionary entries, the UN has the guidelines I use. "Race" as once used was believed to be based on genetics, but the problem is that genetic differences are tiny. Middle eastern Jews and Palestinians are nearly identical genetically, it is their cultural/ethnic differences that divide them....and that ethnic divide has religion as the basis.

Well, a big hole here is that ethnicity/nationality are not the same thing as race

Again, you skipped over the fact that "race" is an outmoded concept, the genetic differences are minimal, the genetic make-up of most ethnic groups are not homogeneous/identical. Discrimination against ethnic groups is not restricted to genetics, as the Israeli Jews/Palestinian example shows.

though I am unsure how that addresses my point, being that no one refers to the palistinians and Sephardic Jews as seperate races

Are you truly going to make an argument that when Israeli Jews discriminate against Palestinians, the charges of racism are invalid? Because again this requires an ignoring of the modern understanding of racism.

Yes. Especially when we look to the fact that many of those jews are from the same "racial" group ...

See, you are almost catching on, you put the operative word in quotation....but you still refuse to accept the definitions.

Re: Deal approved in Muslims' suit against McDonald's

No, the discussion we are having really has no connection to "race", beyond your misunderstanding. So me recognizing the issues with 'race" as a concept doesn't support your position

I really don't know what is wrong....but you jumped on my comment in post 113, I was responding to this:

Are you intentionally ignoring the CONTEXT of my response to once again change the conversation to what you THINK it is?

FSS!

in response to that you brought up something that in no way involves "race", not even on the level of your flawed concept of it

Where did you get the idea that the UN can redifine words based on what they want them to mean.

Definitions of words do not change over time. A religión is not a race so if you want to say he is against a certain religión, you will have to use a different word.

You will have to use another word that racism. I am sure you can come up with the appropiate word, just not the one you like to use.
