few were ever better.

-------

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Jonathan Winters, the cherub-faced comedian whose breakneck improvisations and misfit characters inspired the likes of Robin Williams and Jim Carrey, has died. He was 87.

The Ohio native died Thursday evening at his Montecito, Calif., home of natural causes, said Joe Petro III, a longtime friend. He was surrounded by family and friends.

RIP !!

A very funny man!

The world just got a little bit less funny.

RIP, and work on your routine. Someone has to keep us laughing in Heaven.

This is one where I can honestly say, "Wow. I thought he died a long time ago."

He was indeed a very funny guy. If I remember correctly, he had problems with depression -- or just his general mental health. Genius is often cursed.

a true genius
no one was better at improv
and his paintings were hilarious ... at least once aware of the titles he gave to them
he felt like he was always on. maybe now he can rest ... in peace

One of the two or three funniest people of the 20th century. Amazing talent, perfect delivery.

The guy was remarkable and always had me in stitches. He did have some problems, the studios would send him on mental health vacations from time to time, the he'd be back, as brilliant as ever.

They don't make 'em like that anymore. :(

There is some truth to that. Groucho Marx, Red Skelton, Jonathan Winters...there is no one around these days who can hold a candle to any of those guys.

Agreed, they were subtle so their comedy had layers, each funny. Robin Willaims was set to be the next Winters, before he went political.
