Just under two years after his once-rising political career went up in flames because of an extramarital sexting scandal, former Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner is plotting a possible comeback.In a long piece posted Wednesday by The New York Times Magazine, journalist Jonathan Van Meter recounts what he's been told by Weiner and the former New York congressman's wife, Huma Abedin, over the course of many interviews in recent months.
And Van Meter drops an eye-catching nugget of news. During a breakfast interview in February, "Weiner quickly put all the speculation to rest: he is eyeing the mayor's race."
That is, a run this year for mayor of New York City.

We have enough problems already without

bringing back perverts into congress.:eek:
 
Well according to recent studies people like big Weiners, so that should be a point in his favor. :mrgreen:

Seriously, he made himself a big joke, that's a huge hurdle to overcome in a comeback.

Know what bothers me the most? There are plenty of peoople who want to get into politics -- who really want to change things and do the right thing....who live moral lives and haven't crossed that line of morality. And yet here we are wishing some clown good luck who was sexting all over the place and only told the truth when he was cornered.

What's wrong with us?

(That's the "big us" -- not you.)
 
I think there comes a point when we have to be honest with ourselves.

If we continue to allow people like this to represent us then how can we legitimately complain that we are sick of the "same old ****" that we always get out of government?
 
If Sanford can make a comeback, I don't see why Weiner can't.

Personally I wish they'd both just fade away, but...

Maggie many famous presidents also in todays "standards" would of been considered morally "bad people".

I think the problems we have are at least partly to do with the perverts already IN congress :shock:
 
My question is why does a mans sex life matter when doing his job in congress?
 
To me, it doesn't, but I guess I'm in the minority.
 
Weiner really pulled a boner by sending pics but he has come a l-o-n-g way since. It will be hard to remian erect in a comeback campaign. He will face stiff opposition. He may pull ahead later but the bottom line his current standing in ploitics can best be described as limp. A second run amy be to hard on him.He may have better luck runnig for mayor of Dallas or as we call it, "Big D"

It shouldn't. But Weiner proved himself to be a ****ing idiot by attempting to sext random people through a open service, denying it, then claiming he was hacked.

And not voting for ****ing idiots is a very noble thing

It always amazes me when people say that cheating on your wife is not such a big deal when, to me, it's simply indicative of a person's character and points to a man who'd likely cheat in other areas of his life, like serving the constituents who elect him. But, if forewarned, you still dive in, you get what you deserve.

The electorate cannot be blamed for not knowing and for a media that used to protect such behavior. The electorate can be blamed if informed and ignores it.

I'm not sure how this is so complex that people don't get it - it's not so much the cheating on your wife thing - though that does indicate that you're someone without integrity and you don't honor the commitments you make - but what really damns politicians like Clinton or Weiner - or ought to - is the nakedly LYING about it.


How dumb do you have to be to vote for someone who has flatly and objectively lied to you.
 
If he does stage a comeback, I would suggest that he not do ANY photo ops standing next to the Washington Monument. People hate liars. LOL.

It has always been my opinion, that if someone's Wife or Husband cannot trust them.. Why should we?

I guess he couldn't get a real job. I personally hope he loses and badly. He can serve as an example to the rest of the "political class."

How does blatantly lying to the public "deal with his personal life"? Also, why shouldn't we concern ourselves with how he engages himself in his private relationships?
