Two California men have launched a pro-marijuana super-PAC to fight for legalizing the drug.

The Legalize Marijuana Super PAC.com is the first of its kind in the country and, despite its name, does not yet have a website.

According to Mark Rogers, the organization’s president, the super-PAC was founded to deal with legal troubles concerning probationary issues with medical and recreational marijuana use.In addition, the founders oppose efforts by local law enforcement in Oregon to eradicate the use of Marinol, a Food-and-Drug-Administration-approved synthetic alternative to cannabis.

I guess pretty soon there might be a Super-PAC for just about anything these day.

Sounds like a good investment in American's future, as opposed to those PAC's benefitting individual people. A cause is much more reasonable to invest in.

I think this is good........Now you lefties can put your money where your mouth is.

No, but you see on the Right we have people like my father, who flat out refused to even consider any sort of THC-oriented treatment while he was battling cancer. You also have people like me, with serious glaucoma who would rather be blind than use a THC therapy treatment to save our eyesight.

Yep. There ARE still some principled people in the world these days. Not enough of us, but some.

I've heard that glaucoma is quite painful. Masochistic apples don't fall far from the tree.

Let's pretend that this issue isn't solely about you and your Father.

Hemp for industrial/food use and THC for medical use ought to never have been illegal. I hope that the anti-recreational use hysteria has abated enough to where we can have more rational law about marijuana.

So there are no pot smoking righties? I doubt that. They just aren't honest about it.

It needs a better name. All the big PACs have names that can be backronymed into something catchy.

Recreational use legalization isn't a front burner right wing issue. Let's be honest, anyone who wants to buy pot to get high can do so pretty easily and with little serious fear of being caught, except for drug tests. So righties accept the status quo and are content to let others do the heavy lifting politically on this issue.

Committee to Re-Evaluate the Efficacy of Prohibition.

C.R.E.E.P.

I dig it.

(I still can't believe that someone on the Nixon re-election campaign actually signed off on naming his re-election pack the Committee to Re-Elect the President. I mean, there isn't even really a second "e" there. "C.R.E.E.P." has to have been deliberate.)

Thjat just seems wrong. If you don't want to smoke weed, fine but why would you refuse a particular drug?

At the high-end, untreated stages I have heard it is incredibly painful. Thankfully at this time mine is treatable with other methods. It's about PRINCIPLES, not masochism. Yeah, I know most people don't actually believe in PRINCIPLES anymore, but some of us do.

So far as I'm concerned the issue is PRINCIPLES, and that makes it about my father, myself, and especially about those of you who have no PRINCIPLES.

Oh, should I add that I got a college roommate expelled for having marijuana in our dorm room?

In other news, Doritos made a big donation to the new pot legalization superPAC.

And some of us don't give a **** about your "Principles" and hew to our own.

(For the record, I do not smoke marijuana.)

Principles. The same reason I don't drink alcohol, use tobacco products, or any other drug. In fact I go out of my way not to use any OTC pain medications either unless there is no other choice. As for what Principle I'm talking about.... Personal Responsibility. These compounds put you in a mental state where you may not be capable of taking care of yourself properly or being able to make instant judgement calls with proper clarity.

Well sure, but I'll take Tylenol if I have a headache. I certainly don't have a problem with cough syrups that contain alcohol.

I'm not a fan of smoking weed either, but if there were a legitimate medicine derived from THC I would take it if I needed to.

I go out of my way to avoid taking ANY medications that I don't absolutely need to. OTC or prescription. In 2005 I had 31 teeth extracted over the course of two consecutive Mondays. Even though I had pain-killers prescribed, I never filled either prescription and dealt with the pain via hot showers and as minimal doses of Advil as I could get away with. I also only missed 5 days of work throughout the ordeal.

I would not, under any circumstance, take a THC-related medication.

One of my main principals is that I don't tattle on others.

One of my main ones is: Don't do anything illegal where I can see/find it. He got two warnings to get it out of the room over the 96 hours prior to his ass being turned in. The college I attended did mandatory, random room-checks. If contraband was found they gave everyone one chance to claim it. If nobody did, you all got expelled. I wasn't getting expelled for HIS ****.

yeah, dude, we know. you ratted out your roommate. you brag about it on every pot thread.

One of my claims to fame. Definitely a good way to keep the trash away from your dorm room as well.
