Prosecutor: Man killed because of the way he wore his hat

What I said was that every time there is a school shooting or some other tragic incident there is a rush to pass new laws. There doesn't NEED to be new laws, just enforcement of existing laws. Where the school shootings are tragic but relatively commonplace, THESE types of events happen every day and they are ignored. The police have had their hands on the scumbag that committed this murder 8 times, twice for weapons related charges.

while i do believe there needs to be more rigid gun control law i agree that what is more important is that the existing provisions be much more effectively enforced
plus our nation's mental health care system needs to be replaced
shooting someone because of the manner in which he wore his hat is not a sign of sanity

Gotcha - whatever happened to 3strikes and your out laws?

I agree. Or mandatory minimums for violent crimes. That's (IMO) what should be pursued since the vast majority of violent crimes are perpetrated by people with a violent criminal history.

Are you kidding? If you go after a minority there are going to be 20 civil rights organizations dropping subpoenas off on your doorstep. They don't care what the kid did. All they care about is his skin color and how he's been "oppressed" for his whole life and how law enforcement is just trying to keep the people down. If the city cracks down too much they end up with millions upon millions in legal costs so they turn their eyes away to the crime and then pay "reparations" to these extortionists and meanwhile the city keeps getting dragged lower and lower and more and more kids end up running the streets.

That's an excellent analysis that seems to be completely ignored in all discussions of big city crime. I'm not sure that the referenced civil rights organizations could even be characterized as "well meaning" in this regard. Leading the charge would be the ACLU.

Maybe he was a "get out the vote" organizer for team Barry and now had some free time on his hands.

For a supposedly Canadian individual you sure are obsessed with Obama.

What's an 18-year old gangbanger with 30 arrests and six domestic battery convictions doing out of jail?

Tea party budget cuts to law enforcement and corrections.
