Senator Rand Paul's Epic Filibuster: Reads 'Alice in Wonderland'

Don't agree with you on everything Rand, but ya did good son. Ya did good.

I disagree with the drone strikes in the US.

The filibuster has always struck me as childish, though.

Is nobody else worried about these warrantless drone strikes?

No due process is a very bad thing for Americans.

There have been no drones strikes on US soil and none are planned. The fact that they have not been ruled out does not mean there would ever be a reason to use them. But there are some "unthinkable" good reasons I can see. How about if there were nuclear warheads that would be triggered if drones strikes could not be used to take out the perps?

I wondered now and again if sending those $25 to the Rand Paul's campaign was a good investment. (I prefer my libertarians utterly un-folksy, with a bow tie - and a cute Austrian accent wouldn't hurt). But today I feel vindicated. Two thimbs up.

We've hit the 6 hour mark....

What a stance....I'm impressed. Senator Paul is doing a great thing right now.

I bashed the bejesus out of George Bush when he was in office, for taking a giant crap on the Constitution,... Article is here.

Some one, explain to me why I don't believe him. Oh yeah, cause not one single Republican said one single unkind word about Bush during his tenure. Now that the President is who he is, they are claiming all kinds of disgust with the laws that allow this type of action.

Oh the tangled web...

So Rand Paul is now the guiding light of the latest GOP manufactured crisis in Washington............Not surprising that Sen. Wyden would be aiding and abetting........................

Is nobody else worried about these warrantless drone strikes?.

In Senate? Eight: Mike Lee (R-Utah), Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Jerry Moran (R-Kan.), Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.), Pat Toomey (R-Pa.), John Cornyn (R-Texas), Ron Wyden (D-Ore.)

These are Senators who joined the filibuster.

All members of the lunatic rightwing extreme, including the last, who's been masquerading as a Democrat for years now..............

Good evening, Bonz.

I find Rand Paul's choice of reading material most interesting. Wasn't it Alice who cried "curiouser and curiouser" in response to what she was seeing? Sums up DC today, IMO! :)

Wow, what nice salutations!

It is very nice to see this from a newer member.

We former Politico types are still polite to our former fellows - mostly the nice ones left Politico and now meet here with all of you good folks!

This is going to sound like a really simple question, but what does he do for bathroom breaks? Does he have a stadium buddy or can he just go and come back?

If the Senate works procedurally like I used to experience here, a member may yield time to another member and when he returns that other member may yield time back to him. As I understand it, so far today several Republicans have done this for him as well as Senator Wyden, a Democrat from Oregon who also opposes the Obama drone doctrine.

Finally a voice of reason, "your voice". Rand Paul would find a problem with any thing President Obama supports and Paul and the rest of these nay sayers would be fighting to see who would be the first in line to scream if the POTUS had the ability to stop a terrorist attack here in the USA.

Oh the tangled web...

1. Rand Paul was not in office during Bush's Presidency.
2. Paul has expressed his dislike for many of Bush's policies, especially concerning civil liberties
3. The Republican Party does not represent one man's views.

I see the "cause" of Rand Paul's filibuster about as legitimate as if you were asked if you're going to water your lawn this summer and, after you answered in the affirmative, I went on the news declaring " Polgara secretly plotting earthworm genocide".....................

Ever heard of Ron Paul? Chuck Hagel? John Warner? Bruce Bartlett?

Well said, CJ! I like this new site, and most of the people here are great! Nice!...

Long live the LURE (LUnatic Rightwing Extreme)!

(The Unthinking Left is already going after hard-core liberals like Wyden...Wow.)

Wyden is a "hardcore Liberal" only in your head.................

Bonz, the way your mind works is what makes your posts so interesting to read .... :lamo and

I've been watching this filibuster since 1pm central time and let me say if Rand actually believes only half of what he says, than he has raised my estimation of him ten-fold.

Keep it up Senator, keep it up.

Our former fillibuster champ, Strom Thurmond, used to read from the newspaper, or the dictionary.

+1 to Rand for at least reading something a bit more interesting. :)

Let me get this straight so I understand your hypothetical. You're saying that an American, terrorist or whatever, is known by the government to have nuclear warheads within America and they've let him keep them and they've just been sufficiently tracking this person to know that American terrorist is now about to trigger these nuclear warheads but the only way to stop the terrorist is to contact the President, likely on the golf course or preparing his March Madness brackets, get him to agree to the murder of this individual, launch the drone and track him down, and then fire a missile at the American terrorist to take him out but not activate the nuclear warheads he's about to trigger. Have I got that right??

Do you have the slightest idea how the drone technology works and why it's used?

I mean, what's he ragging about ? The AG tells him certain weapons would be used against terrorism inside the US and his response is : "Satanic CoCo hued AG Plans To Target Aunt Bee With Guided Missles" ? Sounds decidedly farfetched....................
