Fox News chief Roger Ailes calls former House Speaker Newt Gingrich "a prick" and a "sore loser" in a forthcoming biography by Zev Chafets, an exclusive excerpt of which has just been published in Vanity Fair.

Ailes's remark about Gingrich came during the 2012 campaign season, when Gingrich, a former Fox News contributor, complained that the network was giving too much support to Mitt Romney. According to Chafets's report, Ailes found the complaint self-serving and disloyal, and told his spokesman Brian Lewis to “brush [Gingrich] back."

“He’s a sore loser and if he had won he would have been a sore winner," Ailes reportedly said.

Well, that is one way of putting it. I could think of a few others myself.

At a basketball game of his 12-year-old son, Zack, (an only child) Ailes was on the sidelines. Zack's team lost.

At the final buzzer the score was 29–10. The boys headed for the locker room, but Ailes motioned for Zac, who loped over. “You made a couple of mistakes out there,” he told the boy. “You threw that one ball away. And you missed an open shot underneath.” Zac nodded. “But,” Ailes said more gently, “you did a lot of things right. You played hard. You hustled. You scored 20 percent of your team’s points. And when you got hit you didn’t whine.”

This is the epitome of the Fauz News Story. 20% of ten is 2. Ailes Jr scores one measley basket for his team - and he is by far the tallest. Kind of reminds you of Fox being #1 in ratings, but last in actual intellectual value.

As a basketball fanatic, I find this very funny.

The kid is also 12 years old and Ailes, as a father, probably didn't want his son to beat himself up for losing.

He also probably wanted to teach his son that while only one person can win in a contest, that doesn't mean when you lose you did so because you did poorly.

Coca-cola may be the best selling soda. Doesn't mean Pepsi is a failure.

Lay off the kid. Stop being a jerk

So what's the point of this thread?

You take an article about Ailes calling Gingrich a sore loser and then somehow try to attack Ailes by bringing up how his 12-year-old son's team lost in a basketball game,

Please explain what any of this has to do with anything.

I don't need to satisfy your points. There are plenty of other threads in Breakin News - Nonmainstream Media that don't make a point for me. Do you see me posting in them asking what is the point and wasting my time like an imbecile?

i see this as him being a good father
he pointed out some shortcomings but balanced those criticisms by also specifying positive actions of the kid
as a basketball official who sees a lot of inappropriate parent/coaching behavior, i find nothing inappropriate about ailes' actions at his kid's basketball game

and his assessment of gingrich was spot on

Re: Gingrich 'A PRICK,' Ailes says

Most politicians are arrogant pompous asses and Newt is no exception. Having said that when he was running things in DC his contract with America kicked ass and got us on the right track for a short time anyway.

I do not see anything wrong with him coaching his son. I have two sons now 15 and 21 who play/played ALOT of basketball. Both play/played AAU level.

I spelled it out earlier in an analogy to Fox News getting the equivalent of only one basket during a basketball game as the amount of integrity they have for their programing even though they have high ratings. This really has nothing to do with his coaching his son. Again, his son scoring one basket even though he is the tallest on the team is the same as Fox having high ratings for their programming. Doesn't make a hill of beans in the end.

good! however, from my read of your post, you appeared (to me) to be critical of ailes actions after his son's ball game

good. i hope you are as supportive of their efforts as ailes appears to have been of his son's

but you appeared to be critical that ailes son, the tallest member of the team, only scored one basket (one-fifth of their total)
as one-fifth of the team, ailes appeared to point out to his son that his performance was not substandard to that of his other team members; he put his son's achievement into perspective
and if this really had nothing to do with ailes coaching his son, why did you introduce that vignette into your post?

Again, his son scoring one basket even though he is the tallest on the team is the same as Fox having high ratings for their programming.
you insist "This really has nothing to do with his coaching his son" while again comparing his son's scoring (or lack of same) to faux news' ratings. i believe your assessment that his ratings have "nothing to do with his coaching his son" was a correct appraisal, which then begs the question, why did you make the (invalid) comparison?

Doesn't make a hill of beans in the end.
on this we do agree

Do you see me reposting five things to make a point? THAT is a hill of beans.

Don't worry about my sons. They are doing GREAT! After all they play/played AAU

Who are you to say my comparisons are valid or invalid? Do you think I'm serious when the title is what it is?

how does one make a point without posting?

Don't worry about my sons. They are doing GREAT! After all they play/played AAU
no one is worried about your sons. in fact, they are to be congratulated for playing at the AAU level. YOU were the one who brought your son's experience into this just as YOU were the one who made a point to describe ailes critique of his son after his son's basketball game. if YOU do not want these things discussed, then why do YOU introduce them into the thread ... a thread that YOU created

Who are you to say my comparisons are valid or invalid?
i am a forum member with posting privileges, like you. YOU began this thread and made YOUR comments. i now respond with my own. surprised you were unaware this is how it works

this was posted - by YOU - in the 'breaking news' section of the forum. it was not in the 'lighter side' section, which is where most threads are placed when one is attempting to be funny rather than serious. if the posting policy has been reversed to modify that expectation, please point it out for my edification

You are not here to decide what and where I should post. You are free to not respond if you find the content trivial.

Very sad to see a newbie bringing an personal agenda of vile hatred.

She will be rightfully ignored by all.

You are very correct in your analysis.

Re: Gingrich 'A PRICK,' Ailes says

Most politicians are arrogant pompous asses and Newt is no exception. Having said that when he was running things in DC his contract with America kicked ass and got us on the right track for a short time anyway.

IIRC, he also worked with Clinton in avoiding a government shutdown, and also worked to balance the budget.

It was sad to see him in the primary so far away from those productive days.

I'm still trying to figure out his moon base comments.

I have a friend who is well connected in DC, and he told me that while Newt was brilliant in flashes, but was a real pain in the neck to work with regularly.
He said that most who had worked with before would not work with him again.
That speaks volumes.

and i normally avoid commenting within trivial threads
but it was not trivia that i was posting about. it was your conflation of ailes manner of coaching of his son
with his manner of operating faux news that was the topic of my response to your OP
i am no longer surprised that you were unable to distinguish the difference

i am quite calm, sonny

This thread is many months too old to have any relevancy.
