Chris Christie ‘Not Being Invited’ to CPAC

Good for him.

I doubt that it will hurt his presidential aspirations much.

He must count himself very lucky, he will not have to suffer through some of the speeches that will be held at CPAC.

This is what Katie Pavlich from Townhall has to say about Christie.....Although CPAC said they hadn't finalized their list yet.

Christie has credibility in some circles for getting elected as a Republican in one of the bluest states in the country. He took on the teachers’ union as soon as he took office, got Democrats and Republicans on board to put kids first and reformed the system. Christie is also famous for standing up to what he calls “idiot” reporters asking stupid questions, which at the very least is entertaining.

But lately, Christie’s big mouth has caught up with him. We saw a preview of a coming shark jump in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Instead of partnering with President Obama as a strict professional trying to get a job done, Christy gloated over Obama and all of the socalled progress being made. He walked with Obama through destroyed neighborhoods, took a bunch of photos, made promises with Obama to victims that weren’t kept and helped to neutralize all the work he had done for former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney’s campaign— while ensuring Obama’s re-election.....snip~

Chris Christie Won't Be At CPAC - Kevin Glass

That's despite Christie being the most Popular Governor in the Country.....with this going round Conservative circles does anyone think Christie has a chance if he decides to run for the Presidency. Most are blaming him for helping Obama to win. Course we are talking those who have money. Think people will forget by the time there is the next presidential election.

Christie is too well liked to be a real Republican. He stands alone in the ability to draw the moderate independants and some democrats to cross over and vote republican. The GOP shunning him is no surprise to me. They screw up everytime they turn around.

Of course, Christie seems a bit too honest for something like CPAC.

Unquestionably Christie should seek the 2016 Democratic nomination for President given his extreme popularity among Democrats.

Your right the GOP doesn't like Christie and I have no idea why. Being from NJ I guess you could say I'm a bit biased, but we need relatable people running and ideas that appeal to the majority of the country not the minority. Let's just say since Rand Paul is one of the so-called front runners that the party is backing, I really have no idea where they want to take it...

other than Gary Johnson, christie is the only republican prospect who has even a remote chance of winning national election
exclude them from contention and open the door to yet another democratic presidency

CPAC featured speakers will include:

Romney
Rubio
Jindal
Jeb Bush
Rand Paul
Ryan
Palin (seriously, she's going to be a speaker at CPAC)
Perry
Santorum

As we can see, and not surprisingly, CPAC plans to play to the right of right and then pander to the extreme right from there. It's what lost the GOP their last election. It's same old, same old with the same message. It's going to have the same appeal as it has in the past, even less so, as more people, dazed and disillusioned, leave GOP as I did, as many of us did.

CPAC meanders like an old drunk to the same bar, to drink with the same people and suffer the same ills as in the past, while it blames its failures on everybody else.

Christie, at this point, doesn't fit in the list of losers above. If Christie really has big balls, he'll avoid the getting the stench of CPAC all over himself.

If the GOP is going to live, it's going to have to change. In fact, if the GOP is going to live, it's going to have to get the hell away from a lot of the speakers in the CPAC list above. Does Christie want to be mobbed up with that group? We will see.

It would be hard for him to get the nomination for either party unless he very soon made a Dem switch or seriously started kissing butt to Republican money men and renouncing all his former Obama praise.

It would be nice if he could stand a chance as an independent presidential candidate, but I don't see anyone without party backing being able to get enough of the popular vote, let alone the electoral college.

Speculation is that this is about Christie's handling of Hurricane Sandy.

And what do YOU think?

This is the kind of thing that upsets me about Republicans. If the GOP primary were held today I'd vote for Christie is part BECAUSE is this modern McCarthyism stupidity. Actually Christie was already leading in my mental short list but if he doesn't win the nomination its junk like this that will make me want to cross party lines and vote for the democrat.

He wouldnt be the first Republican to show his true colors and jump ship to Democrats. What exactly are his conservative credentials? What has he done to demonstrate that he supports the GOP platform? Conservatives are simply tired of politicians talking about small govt and lower taxes, then crying to govt when the first hardship or special interest comes along.

Criste IMO- has two personal problems, with getting elected in 2016, his weight, which Only he can do something about, We like to think of our Potus in Prime Health and tho he may be now_ How about 4 years from now, at his current weight ...
his Outspoken praise for Obama in A crisis for NJ of hurricaine Sandy, I understand, WHY, he did it.. He Needed Help then and Money then.. for that I admire Him,.............. However he didn't have to personalize it with a Hug on national TV with the election a few weeks away............ I like Criste, I think eventually he will make a heck of a Potus, But not in 2016,

other than Gary Johnson,

hahahaha Gary Johnson? He is just as bad as Rand Paul, all people like him for is his stance on Marijuana. I don't even think he really believes the economic stuff he talks about. Besides Gary Johnson is no longer a major player. The Paulbots will move towards his son, just because of the Paul in his last name, none will remember that he basically betrayed them when endorsing Romney. Even though, Rand Paul is a lot more Tea Party like than his father. Putting Christie on the same level with Gary Johnson is just sad!

Christie appeals to many more people. No one even knows who Gary Johnson is.

And what do YOU think?
that there is no problem

maybe i missed something; what do you find deficient with this thread?

Quarrelling with the GOP establishment is virtually at some point is almost a prerequisite for a future GOP nominee. You may remember Bush Jr attacking the Republican Congress in 1999-2000.

Chris Christie is a quintessential tea party success - not some caricature drawn by bigoted media, but someone who actually challenged and defeated a well-heeled, super-connected "Big-Government type", and then proceeded to actually work toward fiscal responsibility and structural reform, while remaining an effective administrator - in a very difficult, very "blue" environment.

I am sure some tea partiers in NJ are fuming over Christie's treatment of Obama, but all the reasons why they have promoted this guy in 2009 are still perfectly valid.
