Valentine’s Day Surprise: Senate Democrats Blast Obamacare Implementation

I think the overwhelming public support for repeal is already there, and was, in fact, already there since before this abomination was even signed into law. Only among corrupt politicians is there really any significant popular support for it. Unfortunately, it is exactly these corrupt politicians who we need to repeal it.
I think so too. To say you disagree with something is very different than actually taking action to change it, and we have the recent election to prove that such is the case. When people are sufficiently disgusted, when a viable and attractive alternative is available, and when politicians understand they have no other options, we'll get there. I agree that the whole thing should be canned, but the reality is that we'll retain some elements of the existing mess. Who will stand up and refuse a single mother of three with no meaningful income health care? Few, if any. And that's how the whole thing is framed, whether it reflects reality or not.

I disagree. The Obama voter is convinced that they are about to receive FREE healthcare.

Until they are actually required to pay for it, they will not accept that they need to pay for this and it will cost an arm and a leg.

Even when the demand for payment is made public and the penalties assessed, the blame will be placed on the Republicans as a perversion of the plan set up to help people.

Agreed, but Obama will be irrelevant after the 2014 elections. At that point the Republicans will have to sell their plan to the public and force the Dem candidate into the position of defending ObamaCare, which might even encourage some Dem cooperation in getting ObamaCare modified to where it is unrecognizable and perhaps even useful.

Do you really think that Obama will be a polite elder statesman like GWB?

I see him as an ongoing campaigning machine who will trample anyone between him and a teleprompter.

Sadly, that is probably true. I'm not aware of any cure - or even treatments - for such monumental narcissism.

He could always follow in the foot steps of J.Q. Adams who became a Representative after his presidency. Perhaps he can win back his senate seat.

Do you suppose he could run for Harry Reid's leadership role? ...

You cannot polish a turd.

The ObamaCare scam does not need to be modified or amended; it needs to be repealed in its entirety.

That is not going to happen, sadly. Too many Democrats would lose too much face.

Instead, I think Republicans have a unique opportunity here to allow the disaster of the law to fuel it's de facto solution.

Remember, 2010 was... well gosh, a long time ago. Health care prices have gone up since then, government finances have gotten worse. We need to understand that Obamacare is a living law, and that when the Authors passed it, what they meant to pass was something that future generations (say, 6 years in the future) would find flexible to meet modern needs of a modern society. In fact, the living document that is the ACA clearly in light of today's parameters means that a Republican President in 2017 can direct the CMS and HHS to go ahead and begin implementing the Ryan Plan. We can't allow what needs to be done to be held hostage to the now-defunct wishes of the past, after all.
