Despite a bruising fiscal cliff battle that managed to set the stage for an even more heated showdown that will likely take place in a matter of months, President Barack Obama is planning to move full steam ahead with the rest of his domestic policy agenda.
An Obama administration official said the president plans to push for immigration reform this January. The official, who spoke about legislative plans only on condition of anonymity, said that coming standoffs over deficit reduction are unlikely to drain momentum from other priorities. The White House plans to push forward quickly, not just on immigration reform but gun control laws as well.

It remains unclear what type of immigration policies the White House plans to push in January, but turning them into law could be a long process. Aides expect it will take about two months to write a bipartisan bill, then another few months before it goes up for a vote, possibly in June. A bipartisan group of senators are already working on a deal, although they are still in the early stages. Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.) will likely lead on the Democratic side in the House. While many Republicans have expressed interest in piecemeal reform, it's still unclear which of them plan to join the push.

Obama set to go full steam ahead with immigration reform. Bipartisan talks have already started but are in early stages. Details have yet to emerged on what Obama is pushing for, but we will have to see. I just hope they dont follow the trend in Arizona and some other Southern states.

Well if the democrats have no more money to piss away since we are at the debt ceiling, I guess they need to try something to distract people from Fiscal Cliff II: The Reckoning.

When a pro-illegal says "Immigration reform" they mean guaranteed amnesty and hollow promises of enforcement.Hopefully there are enough anti-illegal immigration people in office to oppose the pro-illegal scum in office.

It would be nice if the progressives would actually say what they mean/want rather than use their vague code words, like 'fair share' and 'immigration reform'. But I suppose intellectual honesty just isn't in the cards for them.

Like Saint Reagan?

"Tax reform" = an honest, fitting title
"Immigration reform" = LIES AND DAMNED LIES

Yes and no. There were significant enforcement increases in the bill Reagan signed, but they allowed the amnesty to proceed before the enforcement increases. Once the yahoos at the time had what they wanted, the enforcement got defunded.

Besides, we don't need immigration reform to be a priority - enforcement reform, that's the priority. Let's try enforcing the law we have first, without all the exceptions. Once we can manage that, then we can talk about reform.

Reagan is a prime example why should never have another amnesty again and why pro-illegals should never be trusted when it comes to fighting illegal immigration.
