Utah 6th-grader in custody after bringing gun to school

link not working for me, but I would want a source from government, not a blog....
from AFSP: facts and figures....
Studies indicate that the best way to prevent suicide is through the early recognition and treatment of depression and other psychiatric illnesses.

Here's another study..... But I doubt you'll ever be convinced ,it is just too logical and obvious.

There were 145 youth suicides in the six NVISS sites; 43% involved a firearm (n=63). Of the 63 youth firearm suicide decedents, most were White (95%), male (87%), non-Hispanic (92%), and aged 15–17 years (75%). Fifty-two percent used handguns, and 81% of the suicides took place in the victim’s home. Notably, data showed that at least 27% of the decedents had received mental health care at some point, 19% were in treatment at the time of their death, and 19% had previously attempted suicide. A common circumstance noted was a recent relationship problem involved family, friends, or intimate partners (57%). The owner of the firearm used in the suicide was unknown for 19 of the decedents. Among those for whom firearm owner information was available (44), 33 of the firearms were owned by parents, 3 were owned by other relatives, and 8 were owned by the decedent.
Who are the owners of firearms used in adolescent suicides?

What does that have to do with disturbed young kids who have the impulse to shoot themselves? 75% of child/young adult suicides are committed with the parents guns.

you said, "because it saves lives", and from that it appears that you think all life is precious....

Who are the owners of firearms used in adolescent suicides?

the weapon used, whatever it is, is just the tool used to perform the task.....
the problem isn't the gun, the pills, or whatever....the problem is the mental condition of the person.
People who KNOW that one of their kids are having problems and then allow access to guns or pills are also part of the problem.
When my mother attempted suicide by slashing her wrists, and failing, my father bought her a gun.
He was calling her bluff, and she never attempted again.....
