North Korea announced that it may postpone the controversial launch of a long-range rocket and it's presumed that heavy snowfall may have slowed North Korean rocket launch preparations and Japan deployed the Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) system as a precautionary measure to meet the threat, which is similar to Israel's Iron Dome defence system activated during the recent conflict with Hamas but North Korea carefully avoided targeting Japan in the last satellite launch and it's unlikely to provoke Japan into taking further action by the planned rocket launch.
The Iron Dome and PAC 3 are quite different
Iron Dome defends agains smaller shorter range missles, like that used by Hamas and Islamic Jihad. It is to my knowledge not effective against longer range and larger ballistic missles (Scud or larger)
PAC3 is the opposite, it is designed to engage Scud and similar missiles, and would be ineffetive against Grad missiles
