There's still a long way to go, though.

NPR's Planet Money recently did an episode in which a marijuana dispensary (unsure if it's medical or not) is having trouble operating because they can't get, of all things, banking services because marijuana is still illegal on a federal level, and most operate nationwide. Even those that don't and only operate locally or statewide tend to pay FICA, a federal insurance program for banks, and so still beholden to federal regulations.

There's still a long way to go.
