Obama to GOP: I’m done negotiating with myself

I don't consider not being able to understand illogical people a failing of mine.

Writing off the American people as 'illogical' may not qualify as a failing in your eyes, but trust me, it is.

Look, proposals by Republican Senators mean nothing. The Senate has already passed a bill. What is it about that that you don't understand?
The part where your first sentence requested something from ‘orange tan’…then in the SECOND sentence requested a proposal from a Republican…which I furnished… ‘What is it about that that you don't understand?’
I want to hear SPECIFICS from Boehner. What specifically does he want to do to Medicare? To Medicaid?
I would like to hear the same SPECIFICS from Obama…but I’m sure we neither will get to hear this.

Elections have consequences.

NOW you have revealed your true colors…’My way or the highway’...nice compromise technique...;)

BTW, Republicans held the majority in the House...consequences indeed…:lamo

Well if you can explain to me why people voted back into power the majority of people in congress be my guest. Or how about why they just reelected a person that thinks he has license to kill any American he sees fit or to jail for however long he desires. Go ahead and explain that to me. You might find that its a task that takes a great deal of effort.

While your at it you might need to explain why they are against the patriot act and just reelected a man that not only extended it but expanded it. See, the American people are either illogical or idiots. You can pick.

The House will renew them before then, or commit political suicide. I predict they will vote to continue the middle class tax cuts.

Or they will renew it and the senate won't concur. Obama will sign whatever reaches him.

The Senate already passed renewal of the middle class tax cuts. I posted a link earlier. It just has to be passed in the House and signed by the President.

That is all well and good except for the fact that it is Unconstitional: "All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills."--Article I, Section 7.

I don't want the House voting on Cabinet appointments and I don't want the Senate originating revenue bills.

I must admit I do like this Republican tendancy to claim the reason they lose elections is because the voters are stupid. It's proven to be a winning strategy in the past and I, for one, hope you perservere with it.

You didn't realize that elections have consequences? Sorry you didn't know that. If there was one thing Obama was perfectly clear on during the campaign, it was that those making more than a quarter of a million dollars a year were going to pay more taxes. Nobody could have been in any doubt about that. And it turns out that more people agreed with that sentiment -60% - than even voted for him.

There will be no agreement that does not include allowing the tax cuts for the top 2% to expire. Period. If the Republicans want to go over the cliff for the very wealthy, lead on.

If we had "plenty" of revenue, there would be no need to cut services for seniors and the middle class.

We HAD plenty of revenue, until the government found 100 more pet projects to use that revenue on (including lining their pockets). Then they just took out the AMEX for those services you speak of.

If we give them more money, they'll spend it on even more dependency projects. Then, they'll raise the rates again...and again...and again.

This is what Europe did. Look at them now.

There have always been more losers in this country than winners. But, the losers used to aspire to be winners, and they felt shame in their failures. Not anymore. Pride, self-esteem, integrity, accountability....those are lost qualities on more than half this country.

So you'll be winning most of the elections from now on. Socialism looks great to losers because it makes excuses for them and doesn't require they change their ways.

I think it highlights a serious problem in our Government. We have little accountability over where the money is going. It seems that we have the big picture down (to some degree), but after that, it seems to be lost in the sauce.

I find it hard to support new revenue when we can't justify how we spent the last revenue.

More, please! I love this stuff.

You'll have to take that up with the Supreme Court. Fortunately, anonymous political forum posters don't get to make that call.

Sorry, I'm busy paying your taxes for you.

Actually, no - you aren't. I live in a blue state - you know, one of those that actually pays more taxes than they receive in federal money. Unlike most of the red states, who suck up all they can get at the Federal trough (my taxes) while whining about how much taxes they pay.

But keep up that losers/winners stuff. Throw in the 47% now and again. We love it.

Of course Reid has already been slapped down once by the supreme court. Is this really a difficult clause to understand? Something controversial?

If Obama was wise he would listen to the GOP instead of playing his hardball "You are the party of NO because you don't do as I say."

Who said I'm a republican? I did however notice you did not actually respond to my post. Btw, I included republicans getting reelected in my criticism.

But you are a Republican. Libertarians are those folks who pretend they're something else but then wind up voting Republican because Liberatarians are irrelevant as a political party. Kind of like Ron Paul.

 You are saying that a president with his economic record, foreign policy failures and inability to get even his own party to pass his "budgets" but gets re-elected anyway is not "wise"? Obama is very "wise" as he continues to run against the Bush legacy (it worked twice now), run away from his own defict spending record and run against the very unpopular congress, he simply continues to "campaign", has the MSM in his pocket, pushes for more income redistribution (fundamental transformation?) and calls it governing/leading. Yes he can!

You could at least say thank you. And no, the blue states are the ones so far upside down they'll never get righted. That's why all your winners keep moving here.

Actually, it's all our whiners that keep moving there. But you were close.

I live in a red state so thanks…and as my fellow poster on DP, Wiggen said:

Now get back in front of the plow and quit whinning…:lamo

Yet after “LBJ's 'Great Society' “ the debt as a % of gdp went down. go figure.

LBJ created the programs which encouraged Americans to become dependent on government, a habit that will continue until the dollar collapses.
