LANSING - Today Lansing Republicans held a hearing on House Bills 5684 and 5685 in the Tax Policy Committee, which would give a tax credit for unborn fetuses past 12 weeks of gestation. After Lansing Republicans eliminated a state tax credit for parents with children last year, these bills would send a clear message to parents that “your kids don’t count.” The nonpartisan House Fiscal Agency estimates that the bills will cost taxpayers $5-10 MILLION on an annual basis.

This is why the conservatives will continue to lose elections.

Care for a clump of cells; hate the born child.

Pro-life people should voluntarily split themselves into two crowds: People who care about unborn children and born people vs those who care about unborn children and don't care if you die homeless in the streets once you're out of the womb. It seems a great many Republicans are the later crowd except that they don't think neonatal care is important if it's not their unborn kid.

Really? Context dropping hackery designed to paint the "other" as a demon is why?

Sneaky back-door attempt to limit abortions:

“This is really a backdoor way of passing extreme personhood legislation, which has been rejected by voters in states across the country. Even worse, this would create a special new tax credit for unborn fetuses, after Lansing Republicans eliminated the tax credit for living, breathing children last year. It’s time for our elected leaders to get their priorities straight and start working together to create good jobs and improve education.”

Many states have laws regarding murdering a pregnant woman. State vs. federal tax issues and personhood semantics aside, how can dems be against a tax credit for pregnant women?

Well, the whole thing aside? How can Democrats be for it? What stupid legislation.

The whole thing? While I can see state vs. federal taxes being an aspect of foremost importance (see my previous post in this thread), and despite that being put aside (presumably in the name of hackery) by the OP article, I don't see the personhood semantics as being a real issue, given the murder laws already in place and the specifics of RvW.

Isn't "the whole thing" providing reasonable help to people truly in need of a boost? Concentrating on the state/fed conflict and nuance, and semantics, seems more to me to be setting "the whole thing" aside.

Of course, we could just ignore the whole thing (meaning, really, everything) and go with "republicans are stupid and evil". Generally, that's more fun than laying an event/issue bare.

You guys hate everything, and yet, somehow you still pull off presidential victories.

Is this country completely nuts, or what?

Even conservative pundits say they must change. The must change their views (or pretend to change)on key demographics in the US. This included Hispanic vote, gay vote, and in this particular case, the womens vote

I've outlined my "3 steps to making the republican party competitive again" many times.

1. Accept gay marriage (institutional tolerance) and adoption (helps pro-life position).
2. Moderate the pro-life rhetoric. Go for weeks instead of a ban.
3. Moderate the immigration rhetoric. Stop the "even if you are 45 and got to the US at age 3, you don't know anyone or the language of your home country, we will nonetheless kick your ass out".

That should bring enough of the gay, woman and moderate on immigration to make things competitive.

A state vs. federal tax issue with semantic implications? That's nothing if not an opportunity for hackery.

Can the hysterics, madman. Everyone knows that Santa Claus is unbeatable. Gloat now, but the lies will catch up with you. Let's just pray that America is still intact when they do.

The republicans are the GREAT economic and moral masters of modern civilization as we know it

We must all kneel before these Gods of righteousness

Only they have access to supreme absolute moral truths

I noticed that you didn't mention the support for freedom and democracy. Now that would be very radical wouldn't it ladies and gentlemen?

Also the cessation of civilian slaughtering in other defenseless nations with the imperial fascist military forces.

Dont you find it odd that the bulk of the US population cannot entertain any political questions other than the superficial ones rammed down their throats by the University of Hollywood ad corporately owned mass media?

Like puppet clowns they repeat the gay marriage, abortion, gun ownership issues whilst the fascist Corpocracy de-rims their rectii on an hourly basis

Extraordinary

Yeah, everyone should be a liberal, open the border, through out "marriage is between a man and a woman", and give free stuff to woman. Got it.

They should have kept the tax credit for children and also instituted this. As it stands it sends a very bad message (as is obvious with the posts in this thread) and makes people think that they are trying for a back door to end abortion. After all, if a woman gets pregnant and aborts the ZEF after getting the tax credit it is quite possible that they can use that as grounds to say "See! They took advantage of a system that was meant for live persons so they must think that that ZEF is alive and deserving of that tax credit and thereby it should also be alive enough to be granted personhood!" They can also use it to throw those women that abort in jail for commiting fraud. Thinking that it is one way to punish women that get abortions without running afoul of the right to privacy laws.

Good luck with that one. Once the Religious Right got in bed with the Republicans, it was all over for moderation.

Sorry for your loss, but even YOUR side says they the must change. Also, praying is silly. Why bother?

Go ahead and continue to ignore the changing demographics. you'll never see the WH again.

I don't really give a crap. Republicans can circle the drain and make room for a new party, for all I care. I'm just sayin'

Are you under the impression that you've addressed a political issue other than blind hate? And you (seemingly) don't do that intentionally, so I'm not sure it counts.
