Under Arizona law, those voters have until Wednesday to show up to the County Clerk's office with ID to prove they are who they said they were when they cast their ballots last week. The approximately 486,405 uncounted ballots across the state include 307,620 early ballots and 178,785 provisionals. That's 1 out of 4 ballots cast across the state still not included in the results, to date.

In the bargain, a whole bunch of Arizona races --- including their U.S. Senate race, a number of U.S. House races, and several state and local races --- remain officially "undecided" at the moment and/or could see their currently announced "winners" become losers.

The problem is that there is so much pandering to make sure every possible person votes that we no longer have a workable system. Stop all the special exception crap. You have to be registered by a certain day and you have to vote where you are registered. It really is that simple. There should be no such thing as a provisional ballot. You are qualified to vote or you don't get the opportunity to vote at all IMHO--none of this "well maybe the vote will count under certain circumstances." I am tired of places that bend the rules for the people who are either too lazy or too stupid to do something as simple as comply with easiest laws that exist in this country.
 
I feel sorry for the people who thought they already won. They still may be winners after the votes are tallied, but it looks like it could go either way. I prefer to vote in person so I don't have to worry about my vote ending up in this situation.
 
There should be a national system for elections to federal offices.

I disagree Ive never seen so many attempts to supress voting as ive seen this election cycle and im talking over 40 yrs worth of elections...Florida BLATANTLY suppressed voting they cut early voting days down from 14 to 8 and cut some hours...creating 6 hr long lines and longer...old people cant stand in line 2 hrs and still he refused to extend the voting...I got a feeling that may cost him re election theres ALOT of people not liking him...there were lots of republicans standing in those 6 hr lines in the florida sun too Gov

And every single state should be MANDATED to only use a federally approved voting system so its the same nationwide...

Yeah, and if the state has lousy records or loses your registration, or you run into an election worker that's too stupid to find your registration, that's your tough luck. What a stupid idea. Disenfranchisement based on stupidity or whim of local election officials.

Voting in person has nothing to do with it. These aren't absentee ballots. These voters are the victims of lousy adminstrative procedures and/or deliberate attempts to disenfranchise them.
 
I think Google should handle elections. They have the biggest person database in the world. This is how you do it; a person votes using their gmail account or a 4 digit number at a polling place. Results come in almost instantly. To insure that there is no mischief, the governments state and local have the option to randomly call persons within two months to make sure those votes were counted correctly. I highly doubt however Google would mess with results because that would destroy them.

As opposed to disenfranchisement based upon fraud.....how dare we actually have rules and force the elected officials to follow those rules when that might cause somebody to have to do something legal.

Well clearly that worked out well for them. Perhaps if people did not have provisional ballots, those who comply with the law could have waited only 2 hours in line. Ever consider the upside to having rules that get enforced like, you know, the law and stuff....
