The good news is that you prove my point about what motivates the lefties

and guess what, you all are going to pay more too. We kept congress

America lost the election. the little children who want ice cream and candy and never think they are gonna get fat managed to win the election instead of those who tell people to eat sensibly and exercise

I agree. It won't be long before the middle class and above in income will be paying more federal taxes.

One thing that facinates me is Obama who for years has said the rich should pay more. Wonder why he and those that are rich that think that way havn't written a donation check to the US Treasury? If they feel that strong, why wait for the tax laws to change. Write a check today for the additional amount they should be paying. Lead by example. (Yes, Obama most likely has followed tax laws and filed proper returns by taking advantage of the current tax code).

Best I can a deal is better than the cliff. Now the devil is in the details, but a deal that has tax increases of some kind and spending cuts is probably good for the country as well.

Re the poll numbers . . . the only thing they don't know is, of the people they polled, which of them are going to actually vote. Seems like lots of conservatives stayed home.

Had dinner with some 20-somethings last week, and the reason they voted Obama? Mitt Romney pays less of a percentage of income tax than they do. Nice job, Dems. It worked.

IF you dig a little deeper you’ll likely find that their problem with it isn’t that he paid a lower percentage, it was that he stubbornly refused to characterize it as any sort of systemic issue.

He got a system that made accumulating that much wealth feasible, a system that happened to highly value what he could provide, and a system that was there to back him up in case Lady Luck kicked him in the junk instead of smiling on him.

that's as silly as saying the valedictorian at a high school ought to be taxed ten times higher than the kid who smokes dope and cuts class. He was not GIVEN anything extra.

This election wasnt about anything free that I was going to get...this election wasnt about raising taxs on the rich with me either...this election was about the far right in the republican party blaming Public Workers for the deficit ? calling public workers that get up every day and go to work and provide a service to the public are Leechs ? on the govt dole ? nahhh...and in the same breath they wanted to gove more tax cuts to the rich...Paul Ryan lets gut medicare because we cant afford it and Medicaid and change social security and OHHH lets give the top 2% and corporations another HUGE 27% tax cut...
This election to me was about no tax increases on seniors and the middle class...not about raising taxs for the rich.
I dont even pay attention to the trickle down garbage anymore...everyone knows that was always a bs story....oh one more thing...Im very comfortable I need nothing from anyone....

Americas ignorant mass's withstood a full frontal attack waged by the rich armed with billionaires and a billion dollars...they unleashed their legions of pundits and diahreah spouters...all the Gop Hotshots..unbridled...they unleased a birther war they tried to justify huge tax cuts for the rich by vilifying medicare, social security, medicaid, public workers...the even dressed up little Paulie Ryan and got him a pageboy haircut and had him try to wooo the old folks into dropping their trapdoor underooos and give up medicare and social security and give his buddies a big tax cut...They put up a laundry list of mental patients to run against romny in the primary to try and make him look like yanno a normal american...Americans ignorant mass's met the onslaught of the trough sucking pigs head on and sent them back to their wall street sty, with brown stains on their bloomers :) would you like a box of tissue ?

Yet you didn't dispute that in my opinion even the middle class will face higher taxes sometime within the next four years.
Nothing you said changes the fact that Obama and others could have contributed more to the Tres., but decided only to follow the tax code.

I for one think the tax code needs overhauled. Is it fair that about 50% of the workers pay no federal tax, while the other 50% pays 100% of the federal taxes collected. We should all contribute our fair share. But each to their own.

Funny, I never got the message that the Republicans where against the middle class workers.

Seems both Romney and Obama agree that seniors and middle class should not have their taxes raised.

Republicans have to play ball now or they lose the independents. I have my hopes up that the next four years will be relatively constructive. Halting getting things done will not work anymore.

If you add back his tithing, he would have paid quite a bit more.

And Romney didn't hide his pre-2010 returns because he paid little. Remember that McCain saw his pre-2009 returns and saw nothing disqualifying. I trust McCain on this one. BUT Romney cannot release his pre-2009 without releasing his 2009. There would be a gap of 2005-2008, then 2010-2011. Now, why would Romney not release 2009? My money is that he had a voluntary disclosure and payment for being in the UBS tax scandal. That would have INSTANTLY killed his campaign. Overseas tax evasion? It's over. Romney can't release prior year returns without 2009 and he won't release 2009 because it'd kill his campaign. Therefore, he released nothing. I'm damn sure Romney paid taxes in those years, Ried's completely full of ****. But Reid knew there was a bigger fish. I'd be good money it's the UBS scandal.

Uh, payroll taxes are federal taxes. The actual number of people paying neither is quite small, largely because they are students, retirees or children.

Further, Payroll taxes have long been on the rise as a percentage of Federal receipts. They are now effectively an equal portion as from individual Federal Income tax (the later 41%, the former 40% in 2010). So this more-regressive-than-a-flat-tax is now constituting a major portion of Federal receipts, and people have the gaul to suggest that upper income class (disclosure: of which I am one, these days) is the victim of some newly initiated a class war? :roll:
 
the baby steps in the GOP so far have been very encouraging. Boehner seems to start to have a back bone and the guy in the senate is getting his glasses cleaned next week. Boehner took on the Teas hero (ryan) and beat him Tuesday in a head to head over a GOP leader in the House. Boehner won.

Just keep going in this direction and someday the GOP will actually be able to have a platform that doesn't rely on bitching but showing how much their plan is better than the Dems.

Actually, more liberals and moderates stayed home than conservatives, if you compare the vote totals from 2008.

And those complaints you make about the polls sound a lot like the complaints the right wing was making about the pre-election polls. Which, of course, turned out to be amazingly accurate except for the Republican tool that is Rasmussen.
