Instapundit » KATRINA ON THE HUDSON

A major disaster occurs on the outskirts of one of the most advanced civilizations on earth, and 10 days later there are victims walking 6 miles to find food?

Yep. In Coney Island. “Down on Surf Avenue, businesses are shuttered, leaving local residents unable to get basic necessities like food, medicine, or even do laundry. Once the sun goes down, residents say it’s too dangerous to venture out anyway.”

Plus: “A lot of people are desperate. They don’t know where they are getting their next meal.”

Wait...the response has been great! The News said so!

Well, I'd say if the report is true, its surpassing Katrina. It was about day 5 when all the supplies started really rolling in during Katrina.

Sadly, this response should be monumentally easier than Katrina as you don't have a city underwater.

True. The government announcing that people should go online and fill out a form requesting assistance, when those people have no electric power, is an astonishing display of government blockheadedness and ineptitude. Sadly, that seems to establish the norm for blue-state emergency assistance.
