Witnesses: National Guard Trucks Were Running Lights Prior to Fatal Crash | Streetsblog New York City <-- semi-graphic picture included

Witnesses say a convoy of National Guard trucks was blowing red lights on Canal Street Tuesday afternoon when one driver struck an elderly man, who died from his injuries. Accounts of the crash contradict statements from the National Guard that the victim ignored a police escort before walking into the path of the driver, who may have violated state traffic laws pertaining to military vehicles.

This is a real shame. Sounds like a cover-up is certainly underway here.

Was there, or was there not a police escort? Why no sirens and blaring horns if there's a convoy of massive military trucks not obeying traffic lights and crosswalk signals? Why is this news almost buried, and not in more open media sources?

Who is more likely to be telling truth? The National Guard, or the witnesses on the street?

There's a photo of the dead man trapped underneath the truck floating around the internet, in case you're wondering if it actually happened.

Probably getting out of the way of fast moving army trucks generally is a good idea. Spread the word.

Its currently being investigated by the NYPD. That is not a cover up. Its called its being investigated. Its how it works man.

It is kind of like a funeral procession. The police are at the front and it is custom for traffic to stop and hold until it is passed whether it is10 cars or 210 cars regardless of what the lights/signals say. Just an unfortunate mistake by all involved.
