FEMA Taps Private Vendors to Meet Sandy Victim's Needs

Democrats claiming the military personnel were part of Romney's 47% are just outright lying.

This countries citizenry is being dragged down by a whole lot of dead weight. I dont have disdain for those that CANT provide for themselves...but those that REFUSE to? Those that fail miserably in their day to day existence and then whine and cry about how unfair life is? Hell yes. I would absolutely LOVE to trade bodies...not so much east and west but definitely to the south. There are a whole lot of people that believe in socialist utopias...sounds like the would fit right in at Cubans and mejico. Funny how so many worthless ****s in this country whine about how hard it is and how unfair it is, meanwhile people risk their lives to come here and manage to find work, survive, and even thrive. That spirit...hell yes Im proud of them. The whiny crippled dependent pets...not so much. But hey...they DO make for a great voting blok.

Yeah...that deadweight...Im not shocked you are proud of it.

I hear this all the time about "deadweight". Exactly how heavy is this deadweight. You already alluded to the fallacious 47%. How many refuse to work? How many abuse the social safety net? Can you even remotely quanitify it?

You constant use of the term "pets" speaks volumes.
I never said I was proud of it. I said that I can't reconcile the constant expressions of complaint, hatred, mendacity, outrageous criticism, of America, its government and its people by righties, with their constant seemingly hypocritical jingoism.

Seems they love the flag, people who think like them and money, not necessarily in that order and that is what they think America truly represents.

With every post, you just re-inforce my premise.

who said they were?

Romney was pretty clear that the 47% didn't pay taxes. Well, the military on deployment don't pay taxes. Is that a lie?

Good...Im not surprised you hear it all the time, so you should be used to it. I promise...America DOES NOT and never will represent "wipe my ass and take care of me....poor me...Im helpless." JFK would puke on what the democrat party and many of its members have become. That you think THAT is what made the country great explains why there are so many crippled and dependent pets and why so many of the 'new jobs' that have been created recently have gone to immigrants.

When Clintons FEMA took 5 weeks to respond that was deemed acceptable. When Bush's FEMA responded same day across 4 states and only 3 days later in NOLA, that was deemed a disaster.

Disaster response isn't only calculated by response time. Have fun in this thread, because I'm not wasting any more time in it. It's a thread started purely based on political reasons to try to score points.

Gotcha....

Who has ever said that the poor and destitute made american great? Certainly not me and nobody with a modicum of intelligence would either.

Its a shame you cannot see the poor and the working poor and the underemployed for what they truly are. NO, you have to see them thru the lens of freeloaders and lazy bums. I guess its way to hard for you to quantify exactly how many are freeloaders/lazy so you simply default to them all.

History has shown that it wasn't Americans that share you attitude that made America great. It was those who recognized that with great strength and great wealth comes an obligation of compassion, understanding and a helping hand. You dismiss this on the false basis that all these people who pay no federal tax, who are on welfare, food stamps, unemployment, etc, need housing assistence, on disability, are freeloaders and lazy.

World of difference between those that cant and those that wont. I'm all for helping those who cant and do more than you can imagine. I'm repulsed by those that wont. Not shocked that you lack the ability to see the difference.

Well lets look at a few facts, in Katrina looting took place for days and weeks after the storm, not to mention the thousands of people crammed into a football stadium, remember that? Sounds worse than having to buy some water.

You keep telling me I'm here to defend Obama, I'm just looking at the facts.

Yeah, I remember that. I also remember the Super Dome being evaced on landfall +2...after the rescue aircraft stopped taking ground from some of the people that were holed up in the Super Dome. I doubt you remember any of that.

There are 49,000 people trapped in public housing in NYC, with no supplies. Not-a-bitch from the Libbos who were bashing Bush.

Yet you appear unable to differentiate in your sweeping assumptions and caricatures of reality so far.

I don't see anything surprising or wrong with FEMA getting supplies from private companies. If FEMA were nothing more than a stockpile of goods, it'd be useless.

Where they are getting the provisions isn't the point. The problem is that they ran out of provisions less than a week into the rescue mission, and can't get a delivery set up over the weekend.

I reckon union hands don't work weekends.

You of course have some sort of example to prove that point, correct? I mean...I HAVE on numerous occasions STATED there is a world of difference between the two, have very clearly defined the difference, and actually act accordingly (and not pretend it is SO important that the government or someone ELSE should do something about it).

The Libbos have been saying for years that welfare creates jobs and is good for the economy.

Obama said just last week that progress goes from the bottom up.

That's who!

RD is a decent guy...but I laughed that even though his entire premise was that the negative comments about FEMA were all politically driven, when given several opportunities to refute the negative comments about the Bush FEMA response as pure politics...he just...couldnt...do it...(regardless of the numerous 'facts' regarding FEMA response throughout the entire Gulf Coast beginning on the day of the hurricane).

Of course I can see the difference.

I keep asking you how many wont vs how many cant vs how many want to, but you don't seem to want to actually say that those who wont are a small percentage of the total.

So, can you quantify those who wont. Can you provide some scope and scale to your argument? Or is it everyone like you intimated a couple of posts ago with that spurious and salacious 47% comment?

Well, welfare does put money into the system.

I don't think anyone claims its good for the economy, as a) its not a substantial enough sum to materiallly effect a $16trillion economy, and b) not its intention.

And Obama was contrasting the fact that trickle down doesn't trickle down as evidenced by the data over the past 40 years. Real progress is made when the bottom gets educated, get jobs. You know, floating everybody's boat. The more the lower quintiles can elevate themselves the higher the upper quintiles get.

In trickle down, it just never trickles down the lower quintiles so their boats don't rise with the economic tide.

But don't let the facts get in the way.

No, welfare takes money out of the system and reintroduces it to the system. It's nothing more than recycling money; robbing Pater to pay Paul. There's no net gain.

Senior Citizens typically have already worked and paid their freight and many of them have retirement accounts that they are still paying on. Many disabled people cant...all good. But the number of people that wont? Helluva a lot more than a few. And regardless of how you loot at it, any time 50 % or so is dragging around the deadweight...its a recipe for national failure. We have far too many people in this country (and represented on this site) that whine about the low wages being offered that the illegal immigrants all too readily snatch up. 23 million out of work...20-30 million illegal immigrants busting their ass and making it. Look across the country...go to your contract state and county health providers. Able bodied malingerers lining up to 'get their disability'. Too many. Dead weight. Its destroying this country as surely as it is destroying Spain, Greece, France, and more to come.

No power isn't the same as no supplies

Did you even read the article?!?

Residents of Manhattan's 19-building, 1,191-apartment Jacob Riis projects, have been without power and water since late Monday evening, and there's been no sign of help from local government.
