Chris Christie: Obama ‘outstanding’ in response to Hurricane Sandy

my comment is pretty much tongue-in-cheek, as I think Christie is genuine in is comments. I do think, however, that I am right on the result.

Sandy is the October surprise and the Romney demise (though his Jeep ad in Ohio is probably what really cooked him).

Yeah...I want to believe that it's genuine and I will say he does have a "say it as he see's it" personality. I will say that even if there is an ulterior motive though, that I'm happy to see the cooperation regardless.

I refuse to make a prediction on the election, personally. I'll be the first to admit that I can't analyze the polls even if they are accurate, but it should be an interesting Tuesday, to say the least. I'm just ready to have these damn ads off the air.

He is just brilliantly set himself up for 2016. He has destroyed his weak rival (Romney) and greatly enhanced his image in one move. Christie has pretty much sewn up the Republican nomination of 2016.

I don't know. Two Obama terms can greatly shift the Republican ticket needed. Christie has a possibility, but they may try another person we do not know yet. 3 years is a while.

You are correct. Its rare that you can identify the next party nominee four years out. Who ever heard of Obama in 2004 or Bush in 1996?

Well, we knew of Obama in 2004's DNC as a rising star with Presidential material, but his name was a distant second behind the long-expected Hillary ticket. To be frank, however, 2008 was pitted as a match between McCain and Hillary about as soon after the 2004 election as I can remember. I was impressed with how in less than a month it seemed as though we had figured that out. The only thing was I remember hearing rumors of a McCain/Guiliani ticket way back in 2005. Sure, that didn't pan out, but for the most part, we knew who was going after who....until Obama took it.

It is sad that it takes the deaths of over 40 people and the destruction of billions of dollars worth of property to bring people together. I agree, we need more of this in politics. Politicians need to stop worrying about what the puppet-masters of their party tell them to do and say, and worry more about the welfare of the country. It is ok to step over party lines, compromise is the driving force of progress, we need more. We look up to these people to lead us, what message does it send when our leader cannot even convince 500 or so people to agree or at least work with him, how can we ever put our faith into anybody that puts the corporations ahead of the people. CEOs do not run this country, the power of the government is not derived from CEOs, it is derived from the people, it is about time we have officials that show us this.

Like the LA Gov who resisted asking for Federal Aid and then blamed Bush for not violating the posse Comitatus Act.

Interesting that the Democrat Pres was lauded for cooperative efforts by the Republican Gov but the Republican pres was condemned by the Dem Gov.

Almost makes you think that the Dems play politics while the Reps work in the real world...

I'm sure this post must make sense to somebody, but you lost me some time during the first sentence.

I respectfully disagree. He's not nearly right wing enough or crazy enough to get the Republican nomination for 2016. The Right will never forgive him for his actions today. It's how they roll.

Chris Christie: Obama ‘outstanding’ in response to Hurricane Sandy

This is exactly how I would love to see politics be at all times. Normally, I am not a fan of Christie but I appreciate that he has put the people of his state above all others and certainly above hyper-partisan BS that is easy to sling. I appreciate the fact that he "doesn't give a damn" about presidential election politics and believe that this is a shining example of how state and federal government, as well as republicans and democrats can work together. Posted on the page is also a video I believe to be worth watching.

Thoughts?

Agreed. This was great to see.

I heard him briefly this afternoon singing the President's praises. He said the President made a number of calls in the limo while they were traveling to get immediate answers to Christie's questions. I also heard from the commentator, I think, that the President has promised every governor in the effected states will get a call back within ten minutes from a help line in the White House.

Cool.

I am wondering if the party will finally tact a bit left. Perhaps they will see the conservative Romney was headed for a big defeat and it wasn't until the etch-a-sketch drew the moderate Romney did he climb back into the race. Moreover, several of the far right-wing Senate candidates the the Cons have put up are headed for defeat in places that would be easy wins.

....ok, optimistic, idealistic thinking. Its probably time to head back to earth. After all, that happened in 2010 in several states and they did it again. The Cons are such ideologues that they fell is better to run a wack-a-doo and lose than to win with someone that is less than pure.

LOL FEMA's slooow response in Katrina was inexcusable and Bush rightly took the blame.
No need to rewrite history, I thought Bush wasn't running this year?

Idological purity has always been far more important to Republicans than actually winning the election. I'm hoping like hell it comes back to bite them in the butt in places like Indiana, where the Tea Party torpedoed Richard Lugar because he wasn't crazy enough.

As much as the Left hated Bush's guts, they regularly run against him every election.

Yes, it is cool. I agree.

What ISN'T cool is that it takes a gosh darned hurricane and a mickey ficken election to get Obama to PROMISE to get rid of red tape and bureaucracy in his government when dealing with disaster related requests from governors.

Mr. President, isn't that what you should do ALL the time and not just the last five days of an election???

Isn't that what is behind Mitt Romney's surge in the polls? He will streamline government and make it more responsive EVERY DAY not just for a few days.

And it would be foolish for Christie to deny his state and constituents this heightened level of federal government performance by criticizing Obama just when Barry is finally doing what he should be!

Oh, and the word you meant was "tack" not 'tact.'

tack [ tak ]

noun 1. a short, sharp-pointed nail, usually with a flat, broad head. 2. one of the series of straight runs that make up the zigzag course of a ship proceeding to windward. 3. a course of action or conduct, especially one differing from some preceding or other course.

Definition 3.

If only Obama didn't think so.
