Mom sues police/neighbor after she is arrested for letting her kids play outsi.[w:63]

Re: Mom sues police and neighbor after she is arrested for letting her kids play outs

The neighbor called the cops alleging she hit one of the children with her car , it turned out to be a false report....

According to this rendition of what occurred apparent an expert from the complaint, "Unknown Officer went across the street to talk with defendant Fuller. It was at this point that Fuller reported, for the first time, that she had struck one of Cooper's children with her vehicle as they played in the street," the complaint states. "Unknown Officer returned to Cooper's home, and after another conversation with Unknown Officer, Cooper was placed under arrest for the felony offenses of child endangerment and child abandonment.

Never at any point were any of Cooper's children hit by a car as they played in the street. Moreover, Cooper was observing her children the entire time they were outside on the date of her arrest and thus could not plausibly have abandoned them. Despite the fact that Fuller alleged she had hit one of the children with her vehicle, no medical response was called for or needed as it was obvious that neither child had been hit by a car or was hurt in any way. Interestingly, Fuller was never confronted about her lie regarding striking the child with the car."

There should be a good story behind what got this all started.

There should be a good story behind what got this all started.

She is an angry person right about now..... Here is a copy of the complaint itself.

"Cooper spent 18 hours in custody. Cooper spent over $7,000 in court and legal fees before the unsubstantiated felony charges against her were dismissed. The incident also led to an investigation by Child Protective Services, requiring Cooper to take her children to the CPS office in Houston. Her children were separated from her and interrogated by child abuse investigators. CPS found no cause for concern regarding the well being of Cooper’s children and dropped the investigation"

Re: Mom sues police and neighbor after she is arrested for letting her kids play outs

Okay, let's make an assumption that the neighbor who made the call isn't psychotic. If that's the case, then she made the call in good faith. Either mom wasn't outside on a lawn chair supervising her kids...or she didn't see her sitting there. I don't know what kind of neighborhood they live in, but if they have attached garages and driveways? Riding scooters to-fro can be dangerous. I know, because I have one of those driveways and have to be very careful backing out because of kids on scooters. Some of them sit low to the ground, and they're difficult to see.

I'm also going to make the assumption that the LEO wasn't an idiot. There's more to this story, in my opinion.

Re: Mom sues police and neighbor after she is arrested for letting her kids play outs

Pretty much every place that I've looked at and talked to is current not interested in anyone looking to Immigrate from the United States at this time. So apparently I'm stuck here with you folks at least for a while longer.

Are you really thinking about moving there? or did a miss a joke in some other thread?

Re: Mom sues police and neighbor after she is arrested for letting her kids play outs

Yes their is. I would call that difference NAIVETE.

Perhaps, but even if the person who says "damn little brats!" isn't naive, they are almost certainly a douche.

I would say that she has every right to be angry. Unless something really significant is missing form these reports regarding the safety of the kids (and I figure that there isn't since the charges were dropped) Cooper was completely screwed. This is the kind of "police state" crap that gets people all kinds of riled up and justifiably so.

Yes, I am. I find little of value in this country anymore and while I am not a Muslem or Arabic by ancestory, I find their way of life much more pleasant than what the society here has to offer.

Perhaps, but even if the person who says "damn little brats!" isn't naive, they are almost certainly a douche.

Cute. That's pretty much the reaction I expected. I have no problem being classified as a douche, or any number of other less than friendly terms. The next moment I care what anyone else thinks of me will be the FIRST moment I care what anyone else thinks of me.

False. You love the fact that people think of you as a douche.

If you could, where do you want to move to? For a white, English speaking person, I would think New Zealand would be way up the list.

Re: Mom sues police and neighbor after she is arrested for letting her kids play outs

I have no doubt that you and your wife have those skills. I also know that the two of you are decidedly the exceptions rather than the rule. I find that most parents these days have no idea where their children are and what they're doing, so the first they'd likely know of the situation would be my knock on the door. Even fewer of them have the skills, abilities, tools, or willingness to do the sorts of things you, your wife, and I are able to.

I disagree. Having that child on my property places me at risk of liability if Sweet Lil Suzie falls and breaks her arm or the like. Trust me, the sorts of places I would prefer to live would not have children in the neighborhood, or would allow for me to have the sort of fence I want. Not everyone has those options.

Yes their is. I would call that difference NAIVETE.

I will agree with you that way, way too many parents show little to no interest in their children and are grossly lacking in parental supervision. It is a real social problem and causing real immediate and long term social, economic and even political problems.

While a parent should have his/her own life too, the foremost life obligation of a parent is to guide their child into successful, self contained and responsible independent adult life, which is a mix of protecting and sheltering the child while guiding the child thru the steps of independence and adult life. I think MANY parents come to see their child(ren) only as mostly annoyances they have to contend with and give very little thought about training and leading their children towards becoming an adult.

We are highly attentive but also "strict" parents. There are rules, the sanctions for breaking the rules is known and certain, there are duties relevant to the age and doing so required, but also it is a guiding process to advance the child too - which can then mean forcing the child to deal with realities of social life on his/her own - monitoring all the way - again age relevant.

My lady is the Pied Piper for infants and little children. I have never seen anyone who likes or is as liked by children and we often have many here. But the rules apply to them too (with some limits since she's not the parent). For older children, she is quite strict and uncompromising. At first they protest but most come to respect and even appreciate the attention. Most children are starved for supervising parental attention when young - instead just parked at a TV and video games - and by teens come to only see their parents then as obsticles - and goods and services providers.

IF the mother had not been outside watching, I would have no problem with the arrest because of the 6 year old.

Of the other matters, no reason to go round and round with you about it. I said my peace on it.

I'm sure that there is more to the story but since when is riding scooters or bikes in the street dangerous? That's pretty much SOP for kids in the suburbs and one of the reasons that speed limits are reduced in residential areas. If we're going to consider riding scooters as being dangerous enough to warrant calling CPS then I suggest that we simply bubble wrap our kids starting a the time they can crawl and duct tape them to the couch.

Good grief! At 6 years old I was building tennis ball cannons and playing Superman by jumping off the garage roof....and so were all the other kids in the neighborhood! Playing in the street was among the LEAST dangerous stuff we did.

Re: Mom sues police and neighbor after she is arrested for letting her kids play outs

False. You love the fact that people think of you as a douche.

No, I don't love it. I really couldn't care any less one way or the other.

If you could, where do you want to move to? For a white, English speaking person, I would think New Zealand would be way up the list.

There's pretty much no Western nation that is going to work. It's not just a matter of leaving the USA. It's a matter of trying to find somewhere to go that actually has a decent society. That pretty much rules out every Westernized country.

You really wouldn't like non-westernized countries. They would not tolerate you. Possibly the Carribean if you have the bucks. Honduras possibly.

That's bold! I think with your life philosophy, you just might fit in with the culture. And i dont mean that sarcastically. Not wanting to debate here, but what do you find more pleasant there? I mean, aren't the basically a 3rd world country?

I don't believe you. If you actually didn't care, you wouldn't put so much effort into eliciting that reaction.

Unfortunately I don't have the bucks for the Carribean. Though I think that I'd be a little more acceptable to the Middle and Near Eastern nations than most Americans. Though you're right that I probably wouldn't have the opportunity to prove that to them. Which means I'm pretty much stuck here in this ****-bucket country.

The whole of the society. Life is not about money, technology, etc.... We're here to try and prove that our Soul knows the Right Way to live. That's almost impossible in any Western country these days because the entirety of Western Society is antithetical to the Right Way to live.

Now, now. We all know you are really a huge Obama supporter and that you volunteer at local children's hospitals as a clown on the weekends.

Re: Mom sues police and neighbor after she is arrested for letting her kids play outs

I tend to think the grass really isn't greener on the other side.
What some cultures may offer is less focus on economic wealth as people are born into accepting they won't have much, so find pleasure in other than material goods and costly activities.

LOL. I'd kill MYSELF before I voted for Obama; though I have volunteered at several Retirement Homes over the course of my life. I was the Patient at the Children's Hospitals around here, not a volunteer or staff.

I tend to think the grass really isn't greener on the other side. What some cultures may offer is less focus on economic wealth as people are born into accepting they won't have much, so find pleasure in other than material goods and costly activities.

More importantly, many of those societies focus on what one SHOULD have, do, think, say, etc... rather than what one Likes or Wants to have, do, think, say, etc...

For you, yes. But im not here on this planet to prove a damn thing to anyone or any mythical figure.

The fact that you don't believe you're here to impress Them, doesn't mean that They don't believe it. Of course you are more than both entitled and welcome to your opinion. Maybe you'll get it right the next time around.

Again, you have the right to believe that. I have the right to disagree vehimently.

Of course she, is why not????

Last thing anyone needs is someone who cannot mind their own business. The police may not be liable, but, this pickle nose neighbor's homeowners policy is probably going to have to defend her then seek to recoup their funds from this knucklehead.
