Nah, I'm stickin' with Death Tax because when the person dies the govt grabs stuff before it really goes to other people. The death triggers the tax and the person who dies is the one who made the money, so I'm holding them responsible for getting screwed.

It is a gift to the offspring, and gifts are taxable over a certain amount.

Or we can treat it as lottery winnings which are taxable. ( Being born to wealthy parents is like winning the lottery)

While Romney was paying this low amount of tax on his income.... did Romney control how much the federal government told him he had to pay? Did he control how much the federal government told the middle class they had to pay??

However, Romney is campaigning on lowering taxes that would directly lower his own taxes to almost nothing and would raise taxes on the poor. Nobody is saying Mitt did anything wrong. Long Term capital gains are taxed at 15% (the Bush tax cuts reduced the LTCG rate from 20% to 15% in 2003). The question is why do rich people who can earn most of their income from LTCG get such a low tax rate on that type of income. It's a bone thrown to rich people. That tax break should die in Dec. The economy ran better when the LTCG rate was 20%.

BUT.... what does that have to do with Romney's ability to lead?

Tax records are a PERSONAL item. The purpose of viewing them needs to be a PERSONAL one. Specific to ROMNEY'S (not anyone else's) ability to lead the country.

What you are saying its a bone thrown to rich people even though Middle class people pay the same rate because the difference between my earned income rate (35%) and the LTCG tax is 15% while most people pay a far lower marginal earned income tax rate.

Its not a bone at all. THe real difference is that we "rich people" are taxed so much higher on earned income

No. I am not pointing a finger at Romney alone. He is the center of the conversation and he did whisk away money to foreign accounts (which is totally legal. I won't argue that.) I was pointing a finger at our tax codes. There is no excuse for someone bringing in $20+ million a year to pay a lesser amount in federal income tax than someone who works their asses off to put bread on the table.

A simple fix would be a flat tax rate at 15% of ALL income no matter where it ends up. This would be a non-argument then and the campaigns could maybe, just maybe, focus on issues

Romney obviously is hiding something from the American people. Lets see if he has the integrity to come clean. If he doesn't, how can be expect him to have the integrity to lead this country?

Why do the American people need to see his tax records in the first place?

I mean we can apply your same rule to Obama and his college records...... not saying that seeing Obama's college records has any relevance to the office of the President either.......

What does he need to "COME CLEAN" for?

I mean, does he need to release his Country Club membership forms just for Integrity's sake too?

The purpose is every other candidate for president has done it for starters...secondly it shows exactly the amount of adjusted tax he paid percentage wise...this is pertinent since he and ryan are running on TAX CUTS FOR THE RICH to the tune of a full 20%....the american people have a right to see romneys tax returns just like ryans and obamas.....its clear hes trying to keep something from the american people..and its eitehr how little he actually paid in taxs or where and how he has his money ducked all over the place....but the bottom line is he and the rich cant afford to have it rubbed in americas face just how little they really do pay in taxs and how all their whining is and has been a crock of ****
