Another stupid idea by a anti-2nd amendment loon. This idea could backfire and encourage more people to purchase firearms if cops were to suddenly go on strike.

Mayor Bloomberg ramped up his gun-control rhetoric to a whole new level last night, saying he’s surprised cops don’t walk off their jobs until the public forces lawmakers to get guns off the streets.“I don’t understand why police officers across this country don’t stand up collectively and say we’re going to go on strike, we’re not going to protect you unless you, the public, through your legislature, do what’s required to keep us safe,’’ he told CNN’s Piers Morgan.

Bloomberg is really a jerk. I don't know what New Yorkers love about him so much. I lived in New York many decades ago and I wouldn't spend 5 minutes there now.

Let's remember that he won last time with a slim majority against a nobody and had to spend about a hundred million of his own money (peanuts to him) to do that. it seems because he did well in business he thinks he knows more than everyone else. Look at his big cup of soda initiative.

Bloomberg is proof positive that too much money often makes someone a loathsome asshole. It's a crying shame that so many New Yorkers seem to support plutocracy.

My own anecdotal experience is that most cops support the 2nd amendment and for the most part don’t have a problem with law abiding citizens owning guns. I tried to look for some sort of survey that had addressed it and found mention of a NACOP (National Association of Chiefs of Police) survey that strongly supported that stance but didn’t find the actual survey. I didn’t look too hard.

So while I am sure LEOs want the guns out of the bad guys’ hands, I doubt that most of them want to make it harder for law abiding citizens to have them. Perhaps I am wrong.

This is New York we're talking about—a city, and indeed a whole state, deeply infested with exactly the sort of stupidity that Bloomberg epitomizes.

Stories like this ought to be no surprise. Nothing is too stupid to happen in New York.

Cops going on strike until the people do something to keep them safe? The police are under no legal obligation to keep anyone safe. Try to sue the cops for not stopping a mugging, see how far that gets you. And we have to voluntarily surrender our guns to make the cops feel better about protecting us?

Go pound sand Bloomberg. From my cold, dead hands.

Chiefs of police tend to play politics, it's an appointed position afterall so when they live in cities where the higher ups are pathetic clowns that are pro gun control they adopt the position to get ahead. There was a story a while back where a police chief advocated a total gun confiscation door to door, his officers issued a statement basically saying "do it yourself, if you want to get your ass shot off fine, but we won't comply".

I've actually got an idea here that could solve lots of problems. Bloomberg can have his gun control if and only if he can collect 30 thousand guns personally without getting shot dead, all gun laws will be in place but if Bloomberg is personally present he can try to take them. If Bloomberg gets shot dead trying we drop the gun control debate once and for all and if there is a problem we can allow people who know what they are talking about to issue policy, all suspect laws that Bloomberg helped pass from guns to sugary drinks would become null and void upon his death if he tries the collection, and we'd be done with him once and for all. Oh, and if someone were to protect their property by shooting someone trying to take their guns(Bloomberg) it would be a no foul situation legally as long as they were not violating any laws prior.

I know I'm pointing out the obvious, but Bloomberg has gone over the top.

He truly believes he could clean up the acts of the 'great unwashed' and is trying to do this and the Lemmings are running along behind him headed for the cliff.

What Bloomberg misses is that the vast majority of LEOs are very strong supporters of the Second Amendment and the individual RTKBA. Police officers understand that they have very little to fear from the law-abiding gun owner. They see the truth of who is and isn't using guns to commit crime every day. These officers realize that what we need to do is take criminals off the streets, not take guns out of the hands of legal gun owners. Until we do that, nothing is going to change.

seems to me that if cops nation wide went on strike then a lot of non-gun owners would be looking to be new gun owners

Chris Christie complained about something!? Say it ain’t so. If that fat piece of **** is so worried about upholding second amendment rights, he should turn to New Jersey first. **** New York, that ass backwards stretch of polluted water can do whatever it wants. But to get a gun in New Jersey you’re treated like a god damned criminal! The time and money involved to get something as simple as a handgun permit. Why the **** do I have to get government’s permission to buy a gun. It’s a right, not a privilege. That fat piece of **** Christie, all he likes to do is run his mouth whenever he ain’t shoving Twinkies down it.

Politicians assume people are too stupid to look up their past or even what they are currently doing.

^ The arrogance of the super rich who think they can manipulate everyone and all of society, then throw tantrums and started declaring edicts.

BBerg is an idiot. Most cops support law abiding citizens owning firearms.

Most cops are also people who own firearms themselves. Bloomberg really is a complete loon. Wanna know the funniest thing of all, when he 1st ran for mayor and was elected, he ran as a republican and the republican party accepted him as one and supported him, even though he is as far away from conservative ideology as one can get. Then again, the GOP is quickly becoming a party that far from conservative ideology as well.

Interestingly the GOP is getting more conservative among the overall voting base and the new blood of the party is more conservative than the old guard which is fighting tooth and nail to be "option B" to the progressives and yellow dog Democrats. I don't know why the old guard is fighting so much, if I had a choice between a good Blue Dog Democrat who tries to preserve smaller government or a RINO that wants to "just do less expansion than the progressives" then I would go Blue Dog.

He's probably speaking about assualt rifles, 100 round magizines & extened clips. Plus limiting the number of weapons purchases to (1) per month, now unlimited in some states.
The NRA rates a legislator who opposes extended clips the same as one (I don't beleive there are any) who supports confenscating all guns. Assholes.

Seeing how most 2nd amendment opponents don't know what they are talking about when it comes to firearms I seriously doubt Bloomberg knows what an assault rifle is.

100 round magizines

100 round magazines and drums frequently jam. This is why the military doesn't issue soldiers 100 round magazines and drum. This is why machine guns are belt fed. He most likely would have caused a lot more damage had he stuck with just standard 20 and 30 round magazines.Magazines are easy to switch out. Although its funny how after the Arizona shooting it was lets classify 30 round magazines as high capacity and talk about banning those.

extened clips.

Seeing how much planning the Colorado shooter had it looked like he planned this out several months. So that is seven gun.

2nd amendment opponents are generally on the same boat as those who want to confiscate all firearms. Looking at the UK and other countries that practically banned citizens from owning firearms they started out with the limits, registrations, permits and other **** while probably at the same time telling gun owners that they have nothing to fear no one wants to ban or take away your guns. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

I have a better solution: just make it illegal to shoot people, and then nobody will get shot, right?

This may be al little off the exact subject but I read today the psycho that called himself "The Joker" and threatened to kill his co-workersand had an arenal to do it shortly after the Colorado massacre was charged with........................ready? MISDEMEADOR TELEPHONE MISUSE !!! Now here is a nut with many many many semi auto assault weapons, threatens to shoot up his work place and gets charged with misusing a phone?!?! Is this gun control or is the lack of nut control. Stay tuned boys and girls we are going to hear from this guy again.
